We already have a thread about Spider-man for general discussion but lets get more in depth about the other spider characters.

Kaine, Flash, Eddie Broxin that kind of thing.

Surely the title should be 'The Other Spider-men'.

What about Mayday?

Am I a good man or a bad man?

If its a Spider Superhero who isn't Peter Parker its fair game for this thread.

What about Mayday would you specifically like to discuss?

Would you like her to be included in the 616 universe in a Rachel Summers type scenario? Or no?

Marvel completely dropped the ball with Arana, but then given the way she was conceived I guess that is not too surprising. Toxin though, what the hell?

Yeah I'm not too fond of the idea of palette swapped 90s Venom either.

You know what would be interesting? If Bucky got a hold of the Toxin symbiote for a bit.

Or if Brock decided to use Toxin as a means to continuing his career as Anti_Venom. Man I loved Anti-Venom.

Yeah basically anything other than turning him into a generic evil dude or a retread of Venom from the 90s would be better than... a retread of Venom from the 90s.

I was hoping Toxin bonding to him would give him back his anti-Venom powers except hed be Anti-Toxin now so the pun in the name would still be there. Also what is Spider-Girl doing. last she was seen was in Spider-Island getting powers and then nothing.

She was in Avengers Academy for a while, but that ended and I don't think anything came of it.

She was? Hmm I missed that. Probably because she didnt do anything. regarding the new scarlet spider issue though i am surprised at what was in the letter was not about spock and was instead about something else coming for kaine either the avatars of the gods, the kravinoff's or something else.

Yeah, I think Spider-Girl appeared as a background character in a couple issues of Academy after the move out West. Other than that, she hasn't done anything since Spider-Island. Shame. She's cool, she deserves to show up somewhere. But there's a lot of young heroes who deserve to be showing up somewhere.

Odds are they'll pull her back in when they need another B-lister Spider-character to kill off.

They should give her a slot on Young Avengers, or else make a New Warriors book with her in it.

Marvel completely dropped the ball with Arana, but then given the way she was conceived I guess that is not too surprising.

Marvel actually doing something good with Arana was surprising. Once she was out of Avery's hands she was actually set up to have a decent series or at least to be a distinctive figure in the Spider-man mythos. Sure they did abruptly drop all answered questions about her history, leave the conflicts with her enemies unresolved, abandoned all her supporting characters except for Gill(actually him too), then replaced her powers and weapons with watered down versions of Spider-man's but when a character's creator is their worst writer I think one just has to take what they can get.

Toxin, the symbiote stronger than Venom and Carnage combined, was doomed to comic book limbo when him and Pat's first villain was razor fist, a man who would barely be a believable threat to an NYPD cadet. Besides his absurd power level the only things that really stood out about Toxin were his host dynamics and personality. I think the solution there would have been to simply acknowledge that he makes Spider-man (almost)completely redundant move him as far away from New York City as possible and then give him a completely new adversary or dilemma that Spider-man could never handle.

That or I suppose put him in a team book, which would be the natural thing to do with a policeman. Toxin could tie directly into Arana's book since Gill is an investegator of sorts who the police could work with...damn I hate looking at characters who never were, especially when they are recent instead of relics from the 60s when all the status quos were established.

Toxin's power level is only absurd when you are comparing him to street level heroes. When you place him in the big leagues like Thor or the Hulks level he is still certainly a heavy hitter but he's not going slam aside everything in his path. He could certainly hold his own against anything short of a reality warper if his host was actually a decent fighter (which has historically been Toxin's biggest weakness with neither Pat nor Brock being able to get the most out of his powers) but he could easily serve as a very frustrating distraction for the higher tier threats by playing keep away and tossing solid objects at them and could take down any lesser threats all by his lonesome with no trouble.

I actually think if they could get him a smarter host he would serve as a perfect member of the Secret Avengers.

i for one am glad that Miguel O'Hara will be getting some more action soon. i've always liked his character (and his costume).

I'd like to see her pop up in Young Avengers eventually, but the writer may not want more than one Gratuitous Spanish speaker.

I'd give the fight to Ultimate Jess because she seems more brutal and driven. Plus she was a member of the Ultimates and has SHIELD training, so she's probably a bit more equipped for combat.
