As long as the thread seems to be alive, anybody here doing fanworks?

I’ve been discussing doing a crossover with My Hero Academia with a friend of mine, but that likely won’t be for awhile (we’re currently focusing on a regular MHA fic).

Oh God! Natural light!

I'd had a similar, slightly dark notion that put Luna Nova in the BNHA setting as a place where the students practice magic to repress or counteract dangerous or unsettling quirks. (Presumably, Appleton would be the boys' equivalent, and maybe use the anti-quirk drug.)

There was this idea of a fanfic where LWA has a crossover with Pokemon.

Akko would have a Incineroar, Mimikyu, Mega Beedrill, Espeon, Dragonite and Zygarde.

Diana has a Greninja, Pachirisu, Venasaur, Absol, Alolan Ninetales and Bastiodon.

Can you imagine Chariot at the time? She saw a stick. This dirty, puny, useless stick was the Grand Triskellion.

This is how I imagine her thoughts?

Chariot: You mean to tell me that I wasted more than ten years of my life, humiliated day after day, lost my gift to fly and worst of all, lost the people that loved me over a stick?

Does that sound like someone so humiliated that she want to dig her own hole to live in?

Why would Chariot care about the appearance of the Grand Triskelion? It's still the world changing magic she was promised it would be.

Let's see, if I were mixing LWA and Pokemon...

My instinct would be to give Akko a Ratatta that evolves into a seriously badass, top-percentage Raticate. "Don't listen to them," she says, holding her Raticate protectively. "You're cute."

I'd want Diana to have a Serperior that mimics her expressions and poses when she's being haughty and gives her judgmental looks when her composure breaks. (Snooty banana snake is perfect.) She actually inherited him from her family; she'll rely on him to protect her from legit threats, but never uses him in sporting battles or to catch others. I've named him "Big Mike," just to see if anyone gets the joke.

@ Comun: Chariot was desperate. She wanted forgiveness. She wanted to protect Akko's future. You can see Chariot giving pity to Croix showing that she felt the same way, disappointed that her life goal that robbed her everything was a stick that was useless to anyone but the Chosen One.

That piece of information would have been very useful to her because if she had learn about the stick, she would gladly abandon it to find Akko and make amends to her. And who was gonna believe her? What if Akko never forgave Chariot and she sees her bringing a stick to her? She would be disgusted and more enraged at her. Everyone who already have bad opinions on Chariot would just shunned and mocked Chariot for the rest of her life for being a fool.

@ Duranzo:

I chose Litten for Akko because it reflects the idea of Akko's dream in becoming a Witch.

I chose Froakie for Diana because Froakie's ninja theme reflects how Diana put on a mask.

Also, the fact that Akko has a Western animal while Diana has an Eastern Animal shows how similar they are.

[up][up]To be clear, I wasn't arguing with your choices, just putting mine forward. I think that they are good representations, and I hadn't noticed the East/West thing going on.

Also, come to think of it, Serperior and Froakie wouldn't even be mutually exclusive, since Big Mike belongs more to the family than her.

It isn't actually arguing but explaining why it happened.

Also, Froakie is Diana's own Pokemon she adopted during her visit in Japan.

Akko's Pokemon have interesting backstories.

Litten: Chosen by Akko to be her starter Pokemon.

Beedrill: Caught when she first started as a Pokemon Trainer. Litten and Beedrill are the only two Pokemon Akko caught before leaving to Luna Nova.

Espeon: Given as an egg to Akko by the Pappilidonya. She evolved during night time.

Mimikyu: Raised back to health and captured during the Fountain of Polaris.

Dragonite: A descendant of a Pokemon belonging to one of the Nine Olde Witches.

Zygarde: The guardian of the Grand Triskellion.

Another thing, hypotethically this universe also has Kill la Kill and Luluco etc. Akko and Ryuko from Kill la Kill are childhood friends with Ryuko, the older sister of the two.

Akko should have a Magikarp. She already has a knack for talking to fish and she could relate to being considered useless.

Heck, Akkofish is even orange.

On the fanwork front, one of my "get to eventually" ideas is a thing with Akko as a planeswalker. Mainly because 'walkers are usually magical prodigies in canon, and have a certain tendency towards wankdom in fanfic, so it'd amuse me to have one that's pants at spellcasting.

Durazno Since: Jan, 2001 Relationship Status: Drift compatible
#2240: Dec 28th 2018 at 1:30:40 AM

Like planeswalking is the one kind of magic she can pull off? I could see that! Where do you think you'd have her come from?

I had a premise I was I was playing with for a while where Akko was a barbarian from Jund who was inspired to help people and make them happy by witnessing a planeswalker (Chariot) stop a battle in her youth. She was going to help Diana, a magician from Esper, to mount an expedition into Jund to forge her own etherium and recover her mother's remains.

Another idea would be that Akko and Chariot turn out to be related being niece and aunt due to Akko's mother being Chariot's long lost sister.

Another would be Chariot becoming Akko's step-mother.

[up][up]Ah, I was gonna have all the LWA characters be from Earth like normal. It's just that Akko's spark ignites while she's trying not to get eaten by the cockatrice in the first episode and she ends up making it to Luna Nova by way of Bablovia. So from the perspective of everyone else she's some bizarre idiot savant who can teleport and doesn't need the Philosopher's Stone to cast, but is otherwise a clueless incompetent babbling nonsense about other worlds.

But yeah, Jund Akko and Esper Diana make sense. They're definitely red and blue-white, respectively.

Oh! Bablovia would be a clever way to do it, because the un-sets are in their own multiverse, aren't they? That means that you can use MTG stuff without worrying about, like, Phyrexians or the Eldrazi or whatever, and can posit whatever wacky planes you want. (It occurs to me that Lotte would have been left behind in the cage with the cockatrice - I hope that situation gets resolved without Akko!)

As for Esperite Diana, my thought was that I'd cast the Cavendish family as an old established faction in Esper (with an odd name, admittedly), and have Diana's mother be a weirdo who thinks that Esperites can learn valuable things from the other lands, and share with them, rather than just trying to extract resources from them. Diana's determination to venture into Jund and forge new etherium for herself shows her wanting to inject some red - compassion, openness - into the family.

This has the bonus of giving me a more sympathetic Daryl. Now I can cast her as someone who's satisfied with the grim, unchanging, white-blue-black order of Esper, and terrified that her poor, sweet, confused niece is going to get herself eaten by a dragon for Bernadette's silly ideals.

Also, I have to admit that I get a big kick out of Diana being a magical cyborg who's ~60% made of loops of gorgeous filigree.

Yeah, Diana would rock the Etherium look.

On my own thing, I'm not above mixing un-sets and normal sets because like this is a crossover fanfiction anyway. I figured Bablovia's goofiness was the best tonal fit with LWA, but if this became a full-fledged thing instead of pie-in-the-sky plotbunny I'd probably send Akko off to other places in Magic canon. Just, not to Innistrad or Eldrazi-ravaged Zendikar.

I wonder if this is right in the Tear Jerker page.

  • It's hard to accept but this is where the first Quest has truly end and all members have paid the price for it.

    • Despite all the power and wisdom she possesses, even Woodward could not have foreseen this outcome. She then left in severe disappointment and embarrassment that she allowed her and her friends' entire legacy to go into ruin.

    • Croix got what she wants but she can't even use the world altering magic meaning all the terrible things she did stays that way. She has destroyed her entire career and reputation over nothing and will possibly be hunted down by the people she hurt, both humans and Witches who would hate her the most for destroying their way of live.

    • Chariot got the worst of it. It seems like her entire life is meant to fail. She failed Croix, failed Akko, failed Woodward and now she failed magic. Even after that, she is still going through this and it nearly cost her life and got herself humiliated in front of Akko. TWICE. All that's left is her awaiting her student who she believes is going to give her the punishment she deserves, finally accepting she is the worst witch in the history of worst witches.

[up][up]Depending on your tone, I think Innistrad could work. Just treat it in a more halloweeny way, you know? And maybe menace Akko with an Altered Ego! Just about any plane is going to have dark and horrible elements that you'll want to protect Akko from, right?

[up]My inclination is to say that if you think something should go on the page, go ahead and add it, and see if anyone objects. You don't have to check things with the thread here.

There are some ways you start a new season or how to end the series properly.

Start a New Season 1) Change: Akko helped the Witches to rediscover the secret to Yggdrasil but she couldn't have been able to if Croix didn't start her hate experiment.

Even though the world is saved, it doesn't change the fact the world was in danger thanks to Witches. Whatever shred of respect everybody had for Witches during that Golden Age is completely gone and the Witches have to step out of their comfort zones and work hand and foot to earn back everyone's trust much like Chariot will have earn back Akko's trust.

To me, giving someone another chance and fully forgiving that person are two different things. Akko just offered Chariot another chance because Chariot proved her work and dedication was all for her student. Chariot had to slowly climb back to win it all back with Akko guiding her.

2) 9 Realms: Let's be honest, there have to be some mentions about the 9 realms of Norse Mythology. Probably make the new season into an adventure anime.

9 realms isn't something that would have ever occurred to me, but it would be interesting. It'd also be a way to get around the problem of our protagonists being world famous.

(It's not really a problem, but it does drastically change the genre, you know?)

It seems like the ova 1 problem writ large

Akko has just saved the school/world from a dragon/missile. How can her peers/people go back to treating her/witches as they originally did?

Which OVA 2 solved roughly by having nothing change and it not being overly dwelled on. Akko still lacked the respect of her peers and the faculty. In fact it seems she is of anything less respected.

The anime solved it by having the show just immediately end without dealing with any of the fallout. Presumably when the Nine New Witches go out into town they get “good for you”s and maybe discounts on chocolate egg creams

Right. Like I assume we wouldn't want everything to go back to how it was, but you'd have to figure out a new way for witches to be in the world.

That would be an interesting show, and LWA has a darling cast to explore it with, but I don't think that's the kind of thing they'd write?
