I certainly wouldn't mess with a nuke if I could set it off by mistake.
Detach the section of the ship he's on and slip away in the night. It's not really clear to them why he's sticking around in the first place. Or just give him a lot of supplies and ask him nicely to leave.
Attacking him is silly, sure, but that's not their only option.

Yup, that's how I see it as well.

They also know that he can fly. They'd need to find some way to keep him grounded for that to be worth the risk. Remember, if it backfires that means you and everyone that you love are dead.
But why would he follow them? The thing is, he's unpredictable enough that doing nothing at all isn't any safer. Like, not even the slightest bit safer.

I disagree. He's done nothing but sit around, save for when someone else directly asked him to intervene. He's been nothing but predictable.
I'm not actually sure they know that Amy asked him for help. They just saw him suddenly fly away and blow stuff up, unprovoked. I'm guessing Amy's going to do a lot of yelling at people next episode.
It doesn't realy metter if he is predictable or not. He is something they CAN'T CONTROL and something that can kill them all in single moment whenever he wants. Even if he were genuine nice person (and he isn't) They can't just take that chance and bet lives of all citizens on his benevolence. It is better if he is gone.

She did in in front of a ton of witnesses, so my guess is "yes."
The fleet's leadership has already shown a tendency to favor cautious and conservative approaches to unknown and hazardous situations. While it's possible that this development will cause them to totally lose their shit, I doubt they'll suddenly start taking idiotic risks after one unanticipated turn.

Exactly cause they favor cautious and conservative approacheas they will try send him away (if there will not be some more extreme ideas), and it would be completely understable and possibly best course of action.
When the choice presented is to 1) Do Nothing or 2) Do Something, the conservative choice is to not rock the boat.
It's a story, though, and people not rocking the boat is boring
Also, remember that they believe that Chamber is a human. I could see them trying to kill him and the guy in the the jumbotron, and steal the overpowered weapon while they're asleep
There will probably be conflict and certainly some ruffled feathers, but calmer heads will win out in the end because the show can't end in the third episode with Red/Led destroying the fleet in self-defense.
....you people are overthinking again. The opening shows him intermingling with the crew of Gargantia (even as far as being buddies with Pinion). I think everyone is just off because everyone's expecting something bad because this is Urobutchi, and an Urobutchi anime with no deaths/mindscrews is the same as a Tomino anime with no retarded female characters or a Junji Ito manga that does not feature cannibalism and abominations; basically: unnerving and unnatural.
Which is ironically the greatest joke of all.
I'm disagreeing with Tenzen and Clarste and nodding along with Izaak. My god, look what he's already done to us!
I don't realy care about Urobuchi and I read Fate Zero only cause I heard Saber is bullied here. What I said is just logical (hope so) conclusion of current situation. Anyway It's not like we will not find truth soon anyway.
BTW Savoie, what about little bet, with embarassing signature in stake? I always wanted try that.

Nope, you're gonna wait for another week. We have episode 2 only because its the BD release. Episode 2 hasn't officially aired. In other words, two week wait for episode 3.
That's because I only really post to say "you're overthinking it" when things start getting out of hand, when a page (or more) is literally filled of only 2 posters arguing the same thing over and over with no apparent development or end in sight.

That can be considered soon.
I was thinking of it as a one-episode plotline standing between him and being accepted, not a permanent antagonistic relationship. Also Amy giving emotional appeals to various people.
This may have already have been said:
With the Gargantia people initially talking about "sinking" Red, and the like, the pirates did them a huge favor by allowing them to see what an extremely bad idea that would have been.
On a more note: What it the current inhabitants of earth operate on a bluff/intimidate/kidnap/trade morality and have a taboo against killing. Whelp, Red just stepped all over that.
Black/White Morality — meet Blue/Orange.
Please spay/neuter your pets. Also, defang your copperheads.Considering that the pirates blew up some of the Gargantia salvage ships, I kinda doubt that theory.
No way, the Earthlings eat corpses!

Loves feel-good animation a whole lot. They've seen at this point that he's probably more neutral to their cause than antagonistic—the fact that he didn't respond to having guns pointed at him by reducing them to a quick burst of energy and gas (Which he's proven firsthand that he can do) shows that, at the least, he'd prefer peace over conflict. All he needs from them is information, which they're willing to give, and since that's literally all they can give him (Barring food and shelter, I mean), he's unlikely to have any ulterior motives. Apart from taking a girl hostage and killing some pirates, he's done nothing to justify apprehension.
That said, he'd still be fairly frightening, even if there's no rational justification for the suspicion. Moreover, if they're trying to be cautious, an unknown factor such as him (Who, unless they employ him as a guard, brings them no benefit) would be foolish.
I'm guessing that the third episode will feature some need to have Red stay with them—in other words, a reason for them to want him to stay that surpasses the risk.
I'm curious about the barnacle-punk thing the Earthlings have going. It means they don't need fuel. What with the whole ice-age thing, I'm wondering if they're environmentalists, and are just angry at Red for creating all that smoke.
And they're symbiotic with the Hideaz...the Hideouzu...the tentacle flowers too, because why not.

Fire, air, water, earth...legend has it that when these four elements are gathered, they will form the fifth element...boron.Yeah. I went and rewatched the 2nd episode. I'll think I'll go back to the massive Oh, Crap! theory for now.

Control question: Would you like live nuke on your garden?
