coming this august. Guess it was pretty much finished by the time THQ went bottom up. Stuff to notice: I have no idea the trailer is so jumpy. I think I saw a mech suit at one point.

Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote?

Koch Media owns it now. Spent a pretty penny on it.

The series has decided to be Crackdown, and the Saints are now in the White House.

This seems too early. I fear this is a cheap mission-pack sequel.

I liked 3 okay but it failed to live up to the fucking masterpiece that was Saints Row 2.

I'm hearing IV is basically Saints Row 3.5, using the Enter the Dominatrix stuff.

[up][up] I had the opposite reaction. Saints Row 2 was a leg down compared to 3's over the top style. Then again, I didn't play 2 till after I've played 3 so the controls were complicated a bit. And the tagging mini game was lame.

Fool! It's not about over-the-top style! It's about Tarantino-style grindy gang violence and gritty storylines.

Combining all three enemy gangs into one was a terrible idea.

You aren't really gathering three gangs into one, aside from the Syndicate. And the three you recruit are defectors and/or screwed over by the Syndicate. Besides, If I wanted a gritty crime drama game with gangs and stuff, I'd play Grand Theft Auto IV

That's the thing SR 2 wasn't a gritty crime drama, it was a gritty crime comedy.

And yes they did. The storyline is only one in the game. The first two games broke them up and each gang had it's own mission chain and it's own story. This is waaaaay more enjoyable, and also made the game a lot longer. (About 36 hours to beat SR 2, only about 12 to beat SR 3).

Wasn't most of that just padding? Had to do such and such to get enough respect to do another mission before you he to do another hour or so of some stupid pointless sidequest?

No, it was real easy to get respect fast. And even if that wasn't there, there were still more REAL missions in SR 2 and weren't just copies of the side activities disguised as missions.

Lets just chalk it up to which we played first and leave it at that.

No. I'm sorry but your view is just plain incorrect. I'd feel really bad if I let you keep wallowing in ignorance...

HA! Just kidding, like I really care that much.

Normally I don't mind silly and crazy but this is a bit too much...

2 was silly and self aware but there was still some grit that made it somewhat grounded. When 3 came bout it felt like it just became a parody. And now we're just getting absurd.

This looks like a SR 3 expansion.

...

Oh wait, thats because it is. This was a canceled DLC for 3 that is now being turned into a full game. :|

I have enough grit in games. I like how "fun" SR 3 was about sexuality. That's not something I've seen in any other game. Sexuality gets treated very reverently in games, SR 3 Dildos and S&M parlors were.........fun. Eccentric. I dug it.

I don't like gritty games either, but I just don't think good comedy comes from just going "LOOK A GIANT DILDO LOL XD"

The plot of 2 was silly yes, but it was also grounded enough to where you cared about the characters (Carlos for example)

In 3 I gave zero shits about every single character when I realized Gat died like a total bitch. Saints Row 3 became a parody of itself. Its Flanderization: The Game.

I don't even care about the plot so it didn't bother me :P

It's not really great comedy, no, but it's different. It's about as silly as all the crazy guns you can use. It's a style, an untypical one for games.

See? This is what SR 3 has done, it's made people not care about the plot. Fuck it, there used to be a story here, dammit!

I played SR 2 on PS 3, didn't get too far into it, just cause I was distracted and then I got a gaming laptop.....

Eh. The plot was okay.

Pretty much.

It really seems that the people who played only 3 like it more, and those who I talk to who started with 1 or 2 liked 2 more than 3.

Yeah, having played all three, 2 is much more refined than the first game and 3 was several steps back. I mean, it did some things right, the cell phone interface and control scheme is better but other than that...
