Witch Girl Adventures: The 13th Class

Calisera turned and looked up at Circe. She was used to having to look up at people. Her father was pretty tall but apparently she'd taken more after her mother in the height department. It was her! That girl who had questioned the headmistress this morning. For some reason she had the same oily aura that some of the more ingratiating courtiers back home had. She wondered why.

"Oh no. We didn't have men on campus at my old school. This...screw up? I do not know it, but as to why I'm here, it's like I said this morning. My parents believe that it would be best for me to know about other cultures and worlds, especially since Mu trades with the witches of this one. I expect I'll be put in the diplomatic corps for a while to know of other places. But for now I'm here. And I want to learn more about this world." She smiled. "And try its' food. Have you ever had this spaghetti?" She stumbled a bit on the word.

Circe gave a small rather dry laugh.

'You really are for real aren't you Princess?, she said 'I bet all the stories you were told of here were of mortals and witches, hand in hand working together for a brighter tomorrow.'

She make a more serious face.

'You seem like a decent girl, Princess. Trust me there's nothing about to learn about the mortal world that you wouldn't rather forget' She said she said in a quite whisper. 'Tell me did they even tell you about the disappearances last year?'

She looked at Circe in confusion. "No. Mother and Father told me of the wondrous things you have in this world, and that witches and mortals have a long and tangled history. But nothing specific. And...disappearances? Someone was practicing teleportation spells? Have they returned yet?"

Circe eyes gleaned wickedly.

'Last year headmistress despite being at this school for over hundred years quit suddenly. She didn't even hand into resignation in person. People thought it odd but they got worry when one could get in touch with her. Miss Carton said that she just decided she wanted to make a fresh start in life, but then the bodies started turning up...'

'Cedric woodworth!' said mary mallon loundly. 'Were you at the front of the line?'

'Umm...' Circe mumbled.

'Please apologise to your fellow student and take your place in the back of the line now, please.' she said firmly.

'Miss... I' Circe started.

'Is there a problem?' Mary said Icely.

Circe mumbled an apology and went to line back. She look back at and Calisera and seem to mouth the words 'go for the salad' to her, but she couldn't hardly be sure.

The ghost turned herself to Calisera and smiled brightly.

'Why hello there miss' she said 'what can I do you for?'

That was a strange conversation. The fact that the previous Headmistress had left didn't overly trouble her. Mother had explained about the immortality of witches and she imagined the older witch had simply gone to find a new purpose in life. The bit about the bodies caught her attention. Did they not have someone skilled in Necromancy to speak with the dead people?

But then Circe was sent to the back of the line and Mary was talking to her. She smiled. "I would like to try your spaghetti, your salmon, and your salad, please. And anything else you can recommend."

'Good to see a girl with an appetite' said ghost enthusiastically and dolloped the dishes on on to Calisera's plate in no particular order.

'You girls are are turning in a load of stick insects before my eyes I swear' She continued 'well take a seat and tuck in'. She said waving her arm canteen.

The girls had already started organising themselves in groups of three or four and taken a sit at the tables.

The tall black witch she'd has seen earlier had taken a seat with a pale looking brunette witch with heavy lipstick and a stocky asian witch with twinhead tales and dark eyeshadow who was amusing herself by making her salmon flop around in the cream Cream sauce as if it was still alive with her wand.

A well-dressed majestic looking witch possibly an older student was sat with a book in one hand next to a Friendly looking tanned blonde witch who talking into some sort of box she held to her head and was laughing loudly.

Circe had already be served and was sitting down next to a pair snooty looking girls who seem to being the effort not look the other students.

In the corner the redheaded girl and playing rather nervous Playing looking girl had sat down trying to make themselves look as invisible it possible.

Calisera took her food with a smile and a polite "thank you" and looked around, deciding on where to sit. There was Circe and her group, but even in another world, the Princess could recognize the look of arrogance. It came so naturally to so many people back home that it was instantly recognizable here. There seemed to be groups and power dynamics forming already. Although the tanned blonde with the device at her ear looked intriguing, she did have to wonder why that redhead and her friend were trying so hard not to be noticed.

On a whim, she came over and sat next to them. "I hope I'm not intruding." She gave them a winning smile. "I am Calisera. Who might you be?"

The red headed girl and the plain girl looked at short blonde which who had sat next to them, While theredhead was nervous the plain one looked absolutely terrified.

'please don't tell me enjoy the frog your the highness!' The plain one blurted out her face distraught.

'Clam down Michelle' said the redhead.

'The Princesse is not gonna turn us into frogs' she said patting her on the shoulder. 'Isn't that right?' She said taking a Reassuring check at Calisera.

'My name is sandy and this is Michelle. She's an outsider so this is all pretty new to her, forgive her if she comes across as a bit skittish.'

"Why would I turn you into a frog?" She looked puzzled at that, but continued to smile. "It is nice to meet you both, Sandy and Michelle. And do not worry. Your world is as strange to me as I imagine the magical world is to you, Sandy. We'll learn about each other's worlds together. That should make it easier for both of us to adjust. So how do you like being a witch so far?"

Sandy seem to relax slightly and made the smallest of giggles at the question as if she found it odd.

'Never really thought about it like that' she said. 'My mama told me about these powers I was developmenting when I young and how I see what others couldn't and how I needed to keep it a secret. She made it seem so normal I just never questioned it.

she closed her eyes as if in memory

'I remember at time the biggest thing I was worried about when my mother said I was a witch was if l would be turning green or not'. She said with a sigh. 'Guess I was a superficial kid'.

She shook her head, her twin braids flying. "Not at all. Hag's Syndrome is a legitimate ailment of the magical world. But even if you did turn green that doesn't mean you would have to be an evil witch. The syndrome just makes your skin green. The power that being a witch gives you is not bad or good, it just is. It's how you choose to use it that makes it bad or good."

"Oh! But now that you are a witch, maybe I can help you get accustomed to the magical world? There's all sorts of fun things to be done. We could go flying together, if the school allows it. You haven't lived until you've seen the world the way the birds do." She beamed.

'Hag Syndromes real then?' she said with a worried look on her face 'guess ma lied to me'.

Sandy smile and changed the subject.

'Yes' she said enthusiastically 'i would enjoy going flying together'.

"Wonderful!" She beamed. "Do you have your own brooms? I'm sure the school has some practice ones if you don't. Or you could get a Cape of the Winds. All the fun and it's a stylish accessory." She beamed at her new friends.

The Next Day

Calisera, Sandy, Michelle stood shivering the very next morning in the Schools's stables. The stables were discreetly in a dense part of the woods in the back of the school grounds far from any prying eyes.

Sandy had convinced the other two girls to take Crypto zoology. Calisera had leap at the chance to see the animals of the moral world. Michelle on the other hand seemed to go simply so she would have not her leave her friends side.

Calisera looked around the the damp cold field, morning dew still fresh on the ground. The creatures of the word both fascinated and scared her.

The were two large four-legged animals eating grass standing at fair distance from her and seemingly minding their own business. They were strange creatures, one was white with black spots the other Caramel Brown.

Even further away two brown small animals watch them carefully. Calisera had mistake in the small balls of brown fur for some sort of plant or stone at first until she had got close and the Critchett jumped away suddenly flashing a small fluffy white tail at her. They both equally amazed and worried the her with their speed and unpredictability in contrast to the larger docile animals animals that paid them no attention.

Calisera had retreated from the small hopping things. They were fast! Fortunately, they seemed to be as scared of her as she was of them. And there were those large things over there. She hoped they wouldn't run from her. She carefully tiptoed up to one of the creatures and reached out to pet it, not sure what it would do.

When it did nothing, Cali started off into the woods proper to find some other creatures. Back home she'd never be allowed to go anywhere without guards but she felt safe here and besides, Sally and Michelle would be with the class. They'd tell her if she missed anything.

'I wonder was keeping the teacher' said sandy to her self, she saw the small blone witch start to wander towards the woods.

'He dont go to far,' said called to her 'teacher should be here soon'

Sandy thought about mentioning that bear activity of late, But she decided against it. Michelle was jumping enough as it was with out scaring tabloid gossip. Should knew it was ahighly unlikely Cali would run into any wild animals so close to the school, especially in the winter time. Besides she's looked like a smart witch and should know how to protect herself.

Calisera turned and waved. "I won't be long!" Then she turned and walked off into the woods in no particular direction. She walked over roots and low hills, looking in both directions. She was especially looking for...she didn't know what. More of the scary small creatures that hopped? Or maybe some of the large creatures that just ate and sat. She didn't really notice the path she took or where she was going, just trying to find some new specimen of Earth she could bring back and show her friends.

Terrine giggled softly as she watched the short blonde wander into the woods and away from their Crypto zoology class. Making sure the two friends of the girl weren't watching she casually moved into the tree's not to worried about the noise she was making.

"Oh witch!" She called out when the girl had come finally into view, making her voice as raspy as she could. "What is such a pretty one like you walking in my domain!"

Calisera jumped and eeped. She spun around, head swiveling rapidly. One hand came up to the clear pearl pendant around her neck, while the other hand raised her wand.

"Y-your domain? But I thought we were at the school! I'm sorry! I don't mean to intrude. I was looking for more of the creatures of your Earth here." She lowered her hands, then spun them in a circle and bowed, forming a triangle with her fingers. "I am Princess Calisera of the Royal House of L'Trixis of Mu. I am sorry to have intruded on your domain, mistress." She lowered her head.

Terrine stifled a grin with a hand, as she gave her own bow.

"Well met, Princess Calisera. My name is Terrine Halbrough and I have been looking for you, I have a message and information you might find useful for you future."

She let her grin show. "Then we may speak of your payment for trespassing on my domain."

"Payment? Of course Mistress Halborough. I have good Muian coins that I am certain can be traded for whatever the local currency here is. Might I ask, what is this information? I was not told I was to recieve a message this morning." She reached into her uniform and pulled out a cellphone made entirely of blue pearl with a gold tracery along the edges. "I am told that one can convey messages on this. Will you need it for your message?"

"Oh no my dear, payment will be made with something other then simple coins. And the message is as follows." Terrine said. She clicked her fingers and looked sternly at the other girl.

"The message is as follows. Don't wander out of our class before it starts, trust me it's how you get detention." She smiled devilishly. "And the information is just as important, don't trust everyone who tells you something."

"Oh no. I'm not leaving class. Sally told me about this class, where we learn about the Earth's creatures. I'm trying to find one for the class. That's why I'm..." She blinked and looked around. "Well, somewhere. I'm not sure where anymore. But somewhere near the school. Um...do you know where exactly? And where a creature can be found? I don't want to go back with nothing. The class will be disappointed."

She then looked at Terrine. "You're...not a teacher then? Or the owner of these woods?"

Terrine sighed.

"Spoilsport, I thought you were going to continue being convinced no matter what I said. No, I'm not a teacher, or the owner of these woods, I mean seriously? I thought the school uniform would give it away. Such a thing as too easy, you are it."

She sighs again.

"But seriously, we have creatures too look at back at the class, the teacher is probably late is all and we're going to be in for hell when we get back, I would assume. She shrugs. "It's how it would work on TV."

"As to where we are? Not a clue, I just wandered around really untill I found you."

She did a double-take. "You're a student? But...but then..." She looked puzzled and shook her head. "And what's a TV?" She smiled, now looking around the forest. "Well, maybe you can tell me on the way back?"
