I don't know, but it's terrible. I see the little numbers and I'm like "WHY CAN I NOT SEE THESE".
I feel like I'm missing so much. It's like Bartimaeus leaves a thought only half-thought and continues it in the footnotes, and then I'm like "I wanna know this irrelevant-but-hilarious story! D:"
Victory! Honor! Destiny! Mutton!There was a part near the end of the first book that I loved. At the end of a Bartimaeus narrated chapter, he said he calmly talked to Nathaniel about a dangerous situation they were in. At the beginning of the next chapter, which is in third person and Nathanial focused, we see the same scene but Bartimaeus was clearly panicking. Best use of Unreliable Narrator ever!
Also, I can't help but think that Quentin Makepeace is what you would get if Cameron Mackintosh or Andrew Lloyd Webber wanted to rule England.
