Discussion Thread~

A woman with long luscious white hair slithers across the transparent and almost watery floor. Her figure is unimaginable, even with the horns protruding from her head. Lowering her head, she nudges one of the many corpses with her nose... before moving her head back with a frown upon her face. The flower growing from a few horns from her head trembles a bit as the woman's white-scaled tail coils around itself. “They... they are all dead, aren't they?” asks the woman as trails of liquid are produced from her eyes.

“Yes... they are, Anima,” replies a fully armored black knight as he walks over towards the strange woman. Placing his hand upon her head, he glances over the sea of bodies, before moving his mighty jaws to speak towards a figure wearing a fine suit, and who is sitting upon a chair. “I don't suppose you know anything of this, Agnitio?”

“Just because my knowledge rivals his, it doesn't give you the excuse to automatically assume that I know everything,” grumbles the man as he leans back in his chair, twirling a bishop chess piece in his hand.

“...But you do know everything,” states the knight as his armor creaks with his movements.

“And you would do best not to forget that, Abeo.” The man gives off a casual smile upon saying that, before his face turns into one with a dull look upon it. “Anyway, it would appear that something with tremendous power forced its way here... and decided to make a snack out of all of the Keepers.”

“Along with destroying the Whisperers' Vault,” states a voice suddenly as it interrupts Agnitio. The source of the voice is a woman with almost pale-skin and whose turquoise-hair is longer that that of Anima's. Everything about her, including her clothes, are practically alien compared to the other three. The only thing that looks remotely normal is the object that barely resembles an electric guitar levitating by her side.

“I was wondering where you were, Aetas,” says Anima as she wipes the tears from her eyes and looks towards her. However, her face quickly goes pale, and her eyes widen. “Wait... Did you just say that the Whisperers' Vault has been destroyed...?”

“Yes...”

“And what of the Old Gods who were imprisoned there? Where are they?!” roars Abeo furiously as he quickly draws his sword, which is larger than himself with a single hand. The way he is, is almost as if he's ready to face abominations of untold power.

“Calm yourself, Abeo... The Old Gods are gone. They all escaped into the different time lines,” states Aetas calmly as she looks up at the seemingly infinite amount of orbs floating in the sky above. “Locating and capturing each and every one of them without the Keepers... is impossible.”

“Indeed... Usually, we could just revive them, however, if you haven't noticed already, whatever killed them has the power to prevent us from doing so,” murmurs Anima, glancing with sad eyes at the great loss of life surrounding the four knights.

“Then we will have to hunt it down and kill it!” shouts Abeo as he lifts his sword and starts moving towards one of the many floating orbs... sliding a hand over a hole in his chestplate.

“Don't be so rash,” says Agnitio calmly. “Unleashing your powers upon the time lines will do more damage than it would good. We need a plan of action, one that doesn't involve destroying all of the time lines mercilessly.”

“If we wait to construct a plan, then it will be too late to stop the Old Gods!” snarls Abeo as he turns towards his fellow knights.

Abeo and Agnitio continue to bicker at one another, shouting out ideas on what they should do. Anima simply continues to look over the sea of bodies, each a Keeper who served under one of the four knights. Aetas, however, simply turns her head towards a distant fifth figure who is sitting upon a ethereal throne... one that is more alien than herself. As the arguing between Abeo and Agnitio starts to get louder, a sudden voice halts all of them.

“That is quite enough... don't you think?”

The throne and the once distant figure are now directly next to the four knights... and the sea of bodies are all gone. “Arguing will not solve anything... now will it~?” chimes the young man as he stands up, who looks exactly like a normal person. Glancing over the four knights, who are perfectly silent and still, the man continues. “The Keepers are dead, The Whisperer's Vault is destroyed, the Old Gods are roaming free across the time lines, and something is preventing myself from creating new universes.”

Clapping his hands together, the man grins at the four knights. “Now, instead of arguing among each other like children... we're going to start working on capturing the Old Gods and hunting down the cheeky bastard who decided to free them, 'kay?”

“And how do you propose we go about doing that... Ragnarok?” asks Abeo as his anger ceases, and as he places his large sword upon his back.

“That's simple! Aetas here,” says Ragnarok as he suddenly appears behind Aetas, hugging her gently, “will swiftly go through the time lines and choose out the replacement Keepers for us~! While she is doing that, you two,” the man then appears next to Anima and Abeo, his hands placed upon their shoulders, “will be working on making items and objects that will help teach the newly-appointed Keepers on how to do their assigned missions!”

“And I suppose I will be in charge of organizing all of that information, and creating said missions?” sighs Agnitio, a small grin upon his face.

“Correct as always, Agnitio!”

“And what shall you be doing...?” asks Aetas as she looks towards Ragnarok... who has now suddenly appeared next to her.

“I...” the normal looking man simply gives off a small smile before he walks towards his disturbing throne, “...shall be taking a nap.”

With a tiny smile directed towards Ragnarok, Aetas twirls her finger a bit, before orbs begin to fall from the sky and levitate a bit from the ground. Immediately, the knight splits herself into millions of copies, each looking exactly like her. Every single one of the clones then calmly begins entering another timeline.

No matter what they were doing, even if they were in solitude, in jail, in the middle of a battlefield, watching television, or if they were on some voyage to a far and distant land... the newly chosen Keepers would soon be visited by a peculiar visitor...

Kikyo

A city in chaos. Streets burning. People fighting, dying. The police couldn't stop it, not with their numbers. They just kept dying. The citizens' rage was unquenchable. Kikyo hummed to herself.

"So you just want me to get them to stop?" she said to the voice on the other end of her earpiece.

"Yes, Kikyo. Do what you have to."

"Okaaaay," the young girl responded, axe slung over her shoulder. Jumping down from her high perch on top of a nearby building, she landed in the middle of the riot, right down the middle where the mob and the cops met. For a moment, everyone stopped, and was silent.

"Hey guys," the young girl started, "could you all just... not fight? Fighting's wrong, and I really don't wanna have to hurt any of you, so could you just go home? Please?" She was hoping they'd just see the error of their ways and apologize like she always had to to Father Anderson when she'd done something wrong again, but instead they looked... afraid. Kikyo wondered why, before remembering her axe. "Oh, don't be afraid of this thing! I'm not gonna use it on any of you! See?"

She held the axe out, and the peopke backed up, obviously even more afraid. Kikyo was puzzled. "Guys? You really don't have to be worried. Father Anderson just likes me to keep it with me at all times-"

"We'll do what you want."

"Huh?"

"We'll do what you want, so just please go away!"

The crowd began to back up timidly, dispersing. Even the cops. Eventually, Kikyo was left alone. She pouted. "They did it again, Father."

"Pay them no mind, child. You did well."

"Yeah, I guess..."

Jack

Surrounded by blackness a half-eternity wide, a light and heat rivaling an entire star system had been born. Born in the place of a death, the death of an enormous red star. The brilliance of the thing might even imply a conscious star, one that might have known that it was among the very last, one that wanted a proper finale. Whether the thousand-fold planets, strangely docile in their icy coverings, had come to appreciate that finale was a matter of debate.

"That makes three." The debater whispered to himself. Greatfather Winter had no one else to whisper to, in truth. The bodily essences of Summer, Spring, and Autumn had long since lost their minds and dispersed themselves amongst the plane of reality He could only watch, alone, as the last remaining specks of his universe fell towards eternal cold.

"It never gets old" he said. "I'm jealous." With that, he began moving himself towards the next nearest star, currently existing as a hundred-lightyear-spanning mass of of blizzards and planetary bodies. No one, mortal or god or primordial, was there to nag him for throwing his weight around.

"Thank goodness for that, atleast."

Aetas, with Kikyo

"You do know that you really didn't do much... yes?" spoke a monotonous, yet feminine voice from above.

Sitting on top of a streetlight, was a woman with long turquoise hair. Her legs were simply swinging as she played a couple of notes on her guitar, each note making a wondrous sound. Her face, however, held no emotion. Her eyes had a dull and uninterested look to them, although there was something else... almost as if she was disappointed.

"Praising someone for simply pointing an axe... your Father must be a pathetic person to give praise so easily," spoke the girl as she continued to play some more tunes. Unbeknownst to Kikyo, Aetas was patiently waiting for two things: one, to see whether or not the demonic-girl below her would notice that everything around Kikyo, except for both her and Aetas had stopped moving, including the wind and the fires, and two, to gauge her reaction at insulting Father Anderson and to get the chance to see the girl's abilities first hand.

Lifting her head, Aetas looked down upon Kikyo, still playing upon her guitar. "What say you, Kikyo? Is your Father a pathetic person or not?"

Aetas, with Jack

A sudden and new presence could be felt in the cold and empty universe... one that couldn't be classified by normal means.

Laying upon the snowy wasteland with no signs of being cold or being affected by the weather, which seemed to have completely halted and stand in mid-air, Aetas simply raised her head up at the mass of chilly weather that was known as Greatfather Winter. "You know... you shouldn't toss your form and mass around like that, it's very irresponsible of you to do so as a deity..."

Closing her eyes a bit and placing her hands behind her head, Aetas crossed her legs and began moving her foot calmly... and acting as if the still-weather and cold air wasn't there at all. "Are you lonely being here all by yourself? Do you miss the other seasons...?"

The girl then slowly opened her eyes, and stared directly into the core of the embodiment of winter with her turquoise-colored eyes... which alone felt that they could be just as cold as him.

"Do you miss interacting with people... Mr. Jack Frost?"

Sophia Sullivan

For a battlefield where thousands of lives would end by the time this was over, it sure made an incredibly beautiful sight.

Sophia sat on the edge of a grassy patch of ground, her feet dangling over a precipice that would never end. For this was an Elemental Plane of Air, a place where there was little solid ground to be found... just never ending heights and open air. Where the Sun never set in the sky... indeed, the only times were it got even slightly dark here was when the celestial orb became hidden behind one of the massive, ocean sized clouds floating lazily in the sky.

Right now, the sun was barely obstructed by some small clouds far away in the distance, its light staining the whole sky in pinks, red and purples like a sunset. The cold breeze hit Sophia gently in the face, making her black hair sway behind her. This time the air smelled like the open ocean, nice, salty and healthy. In the past hour that she had sat looking over the landscape, Sophia had managed to feel the bitting cold wind of a tundra, the hot air of a desert and many more. No matter that in this plane there were no deserts or tundras... any and all kinds of winds, from all different planes traveled and flew all over this open sky, carrying with them the mementos of their endless journey... the warmth, the scents... whatever they could carry would make its way eventually to the endless sky.

"Such a lovely place..." whispered Sophia to the wind, one hand on her cheek as she lazily let the moments pass. However, soon enough her quiet contemplation would be interrupted.

"Prime Sullivan, madam, it's time" came a little voice behind her. A little fairy in the uniformed robes of the army, standing on the grass a couple meters away, her bug like wings twitching gently as they clearly wished to start moving again and carry the fairy off into the wind.

"I know, I know... still, thank you for the reminder" said the Prime Sorceress, grabbing hold of the rune etched wooden staff at her side before standing up and patting the dust off her coat.

Sophia looked off in the distance, her green colored eye seeing far more than should be possible. At the other end of the sky there floated a giant castle... a Fortress. Home of her newest targets. They had prepared their defenses and cast their protective charms for months... however, at this moment when they were weakest is when they would fall. That is why Sophia had been assigned to this force.

For the first time in hours, Sophia looked down at the force she would lead. She sat in a massive pillar of stone overgrown with grass and vines, the whole thing more than two kilometers tall, flanked on all sides by smaller floating stone platforms which housed towers and other defensive structures for the wizards hiding beneath. There also massive floating ships, their crews making preparations for the imminent attack. Griphons, elementals and all other sorts of winged beings hovered and moved all around, preparing formations, delivering reports and supplies.

The eve of battle, just like many she had seen before. However, each battle was one less until the end. Of this, Sophia was sure. Reality had never seen someone liked her before... these battlefields who had seen titans clashing blades, dragons riping through fortresses, demons cleaving their way through all opposition... This reality had never seen someone liked her before. She knew it and such confidence in her own skills was the only thing that would carry her forward. She could not afford to lose. With the power flowing through her, Sophia would fight every battle until there was nothing left to fight... until in the end all that remained was peace.

Thus was her purpose she decided... letting the issue pass out of her mind as she closed her eyes. She stood at the edge of the chasm... and then let herself fall, let the ranging winds kiss her skin before her power enveloped her and let her fly.

Only then did she open her eyes, when she stopped going down and started to head forward, towards the dipping sun and into battle.

It was all over in little over four hours. The magnificent flying fortress now looked a lot less grand with a lot of holes blasted into it. Pieces of debris floated in some of the gravity free patches of sky around it... plus more than a few corpses among them. Thankfully, in this battlefield, most of the dead simply... fell. To where, Sophia was not in the mood to research.

She walked, alone, down the black steps of the upper keep of the fortress into the miraculously unharmed gardens. In battle she tended to be alone. Given the nature of her magic and the assaults that the enemy sent her way, it was more dangerous to herself and her allies to actually stick close to her. If things got to the point where she needed help, it would be fast in coming she knew. There was nobody in the gardens but Sophia actually never was alone.

There was not a tear on her clothes, not a scrape on her skin. Still, battles in this reality didn't tend to leave many visible scars. If you actually got hit with what your enemy threw your way then chances are that you won't live to worry about your wounds or your torn uniform. She tried to keep the face of him whose death brought an end to the battle off her thoughts, at least for now. After all, he was just another Magister, one in a long list of targets to eliminate. She did not let their demise weight heavily in her mind, however, his blood, as well as that of legions of his shoulders, lay on her hands. It mattered not the pristine state of her uniform, the lack of any mark of her opponent in her skin or clothes. The same blood which warriors of steel and bone could never rinse off their hands, still stained Sophia's own deep crimson.

Fortunately, to shake the woman off her gloomy thoughts she felt a presence... something she had not ever felt before. That was exciting. Sophia might not like the slaughter, the war, but she did like the battle, the excitement of something new that her enemies might send her way. Some obstacle for her to best.

She spun suddenly, aiming her staff at a most peculiar woman standing some distance way, sporting her usual confident smile "So, the Magister had another trick up his sleeve? Should have played it a bit sooner, I reckon you won't do him much good now"

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Varethos

As he wandered through the corrupted wastelands, scarcely illuminated by some molten slag, puddles of radioactive ooze and the occassional arc of electricity, Varethos found himself looking up into the skies that once belonged to his homeworld.

The sun had long since been covered by clouds, some as black as the night, some of an ashen tone, others of the deepest crimson. Suddenly, it started to rain. The rivers of molten metal sizzled, whenever the liquid, which probably was polluted enough not to count as "water" anymore, touched it. As the rain touched the lakes of glistening oil, the mixture began to boil and started emitting clouds of poisonous gasses, filling the air with a smell best left undescribed.

It seemed as if the sky itself was crying bloody tears over the loss of hope for it's world.

Some time later, Varethos reached the shining plains, a wide, open space full of monuments to the failure of life that doomed this world. There were broken contraptions lying everywhere, gleaming in a metallic silver, while mindless drones tried to retrieve them from the quicksilver lakes they fell into.

He reached the metalworks, a large facility in which those were created to follow down the path he had escaped from. To destroy the last dreams of freedom. To continue this hell.
The many chimneys emitted a neverending stream of smoke into the air which, combined with the rust from the nearby scrapyard made it impossible to breathe and ensveloped the nearby areas in a shade of darkest crimson.

Finally, he reached the spire, a tall, thin mountain made out of a polished, white metal, looking almost surreal. After making the long journey up to its peak, Varethos finally sat down and looked around. As the memories of his fate, the fate of what was once his world struck his mind once again, he tried to remember, what happiness felt like, what a smile looked like again.

If he could, he would have cried.

For a few seconds, the storm halted entirely, the mass of a million million planets being held in stasis. "I....am no god." Suddenly, even more quickly than the sentient storm had stopped, it began collapsing inwards on itself, not dissimilar to the death of many stars within his realm. In the place of a black hole, however, there was something much less peculiar, yet so much more at the same time.

"And before you came, there were none that I was accountable or responsible for." In the place of a nigh-incalcuable mass, now stood a man, or the semblance of one. He was tall, around eight feet by mortal measure, and deathly lean. His pale skin and light-blue eyes fit wrapped around his skeleton as if they were two sizes too small, giving his face an almost undead angulature. A wild snow-white beard hung to his sternum, making for a miracle that it was never caught in the dark grey mail that clung to his bare torso. He wore a pair of leather of baggy leather pants and boots of similar coloration to the mail shirt, and of similar medieval make. Over all of that, a coat of pitch black furs worked to hide all but his head, topped by unkempt hair that hung down to his sides, amongst the interstellar void.

"As to the matter of the other seasons, my lady, they understood my place in this universe, but were never fond of it. As such, I've grown accustomed to isolation. My brother, Death, would attest to the same feelings, were there anything left to die these days." He began stroking his beard.

"Which brings me to ask......what are you? You, who wanders through my dominion so casually, so....frugal. Are you a trick of my old mind, a shade of little miss Spring, tugging at my robes an asking if it's her turn yet?" He began shaking his head. "No, your stare is much to cold, much to world weary." Back to the beard." Are you an avatar of new creation, here to rip this existence from my hands?" Another shake. "No, I believe you could have done that well before I had you in eyeshot." He leant in towards the young-looking thing, rubbing his eyes.

"What could you be then.........."

Aetas, with Sophia

Giving off a small sigh at Sophia's retort, Aetas scratched her own cheek a bit. "I'm a bit offended that you would think that I would follow under a Magister... especially considering I hardly ever listen to him," spoke the turquoise-haired girl as she recalled Agnitio's smug smile. "I suppose I can forgive you though for your mistake, since that was quite an amusing battle you performed for me... one of the more boring ones, but still amusing nonetheless."

Glancing up at Sophia with dull eyes void of emotion, the fair and peculiar lady began walking towards a nearby pillar. "Oh, and you can go ahead and take a gander of firing one or two of your spells at me..." whispered the girl as she disappeared behind the pillar, and suddenly appeared directly behind Sophia, "...but I truly doubt that you'll be able to ever touch me."

"Even though you are indeed an exceptional Curatios capable of destroying fortresses and leading grand armies, the spells of your caliber will not be able to lay a scratch upon my bare flesh... that is a simple fact," spoke Aetas as she mentioned a very strange word, and as she spoke in a matter-of-fact tone of voice. "So do not feel bad... Miss Sophia Sullivan... for not being able to stand a chance against a being superior than any of your gods."

The woman's voice held no intent of boasting or gloating, or even a overconfident attitude... actually, there was no emotion or feeling at all in her voice. Each of her words were perfectly monotone, and could leave an eerie chill down any creature's spine. In fact, as she finished speaking, all of the butterflies who were in the garden stopped moving, their wings practically frozen in place while some had just stopped in mid-air. The flowers had stopped moving as the wind halted, and were Sophia to look up, she would notice that the birds, faeries, griphons, and even the clouds had all stopped moving. It... was almost as if time itself had paused all around them.

Aetas, with Varethos

"So... there is still some humanity left inside you, isn't there?" murmured a soft voice from almost directly next to Varethos. With her boots off to her side, and sitting with her bare legs dangling over the edge of the mountain's peak, the strange woman simply swung from side to side... almost as if she was waiting for someone to arrive there. Just when did this woman get here, and how had she gotten here unnoticed?

"This world is filled with sadness... and it is rather hideous, is it not? I'm sure if Anima was here, she would shed many tears..." murmured the girl as she stared off into the distance, not really speaking to anyone in particular. "Even though this world is hideous... it is beautiful as well."

Saying something strange, the girl turned towards Varethos, and held out a flower. The flower itself... was perfectly untouched, and it was almost as if it was perfectly immune to the disasters that plagued the world. Every part of it seethed with life and a hidden beauty. "It is beautiful because there is still hope... and because there are people like you, Varethos." Holding out the flower that had seemingly been forced to stay frozen in time towards Varethos, the girl cleared her throat before speaking once again.

"Oh... and if you were expecting me to smile, I wont. I'm sorry, but there is only one person I ever show my smile towards anymore."

Aetas, With Jack

"A question such as that deserves a complex answer, Mr. Jack Frost," spoke Aetas as she looked directly up at Jack with the same look she showed him before. There was no sign of being scared, or even intimidated by the man's new appearance. Actually... it would seem that it wouldn't had mattered if he had kept his previous form or not. Her stare simply said that it wouldn't have mattered what he truly looked like... nothing would ever scare or surprise her.

"I am something that transcends anything that is limited within this universe. In a way, I am what could be said to have allowed you to live, and have indirectly caused all of this to happen to this timeline of yours. I am what allows you to move, to speak, to eat, to drink, and to age... without me, there would be no knowledge, life, or even death. Do not get me wrong, I am not the strongest, for there is one thing that surpasses even me." For the smallest of a moment upon saying that, a small warmth could be felt from the girl, one only a keen eye could see as the edges of her lips barely formed a small smile, before vanishing.

Looking up at Jack, Aetas continued as she tilted her off to the side a bit. "Have you figured out who, or what I am yet, Mr. Jack Frost?"

"I... am Time."

Knowing a greater authority than his when he saw one, Jack got down on one knee, and opened his arms in a bow. "Then it is most certainly an honor, Lady Time." He rose back onto his feet, more limber than any man his age ought to. "It would most certainly seem that you've worked in my favor." It was true enough.

"Now how might this old sentinel serve your purposes?" he asked. "As you see, even moreso than I, there aren't may goings on here. Has the brilliant passing of this star been so bright as to catch your eye?"

Varethos to Aetas

"Humanity...", Varethos' rattling, yet bitter voice answered, ignoring the flower "...is only a concept... There is the chaos of life, the calm serenity of death...but not here...this world is the empty perfectionism of the machine. It is broken, wounded far beyond any healing I could ever imagine. Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, but I fear I may have become blind to it. Aetas, With Jack

"Huh... you took that rather well," hummed Aetas as she calmly stood up. Not even having to dust herself off, she turned towards Jack. "My purpose for being here? Well... it wasn't to see the stars fade... since I've seen that specific star pass for at least the nineteen-thousandth time already. You become rather apathetic after seeing many, many things over the eons."

"Now, back to my purpose for being here... Specifically, I am here for you. My Lord Ragnarok has asked of me that I find well-suited champions to assist him. Normally, I would explain things in greater detail... but I feel as if Ragnarok would like to tell you all of what is happening himself. I wont force you to come with me, for there is a chance that you may never return here, but I highly recommend that you think carefully before you choose... since this is a one way trip."

"Mr. Jack Frost, what say you? Will you abandon your time line, and come with me to assist my lord? Or... would you prefer to stay here, and watch this universe disappear into nothingness?"

Aetas, with Varethos

"Do not worry about me, Varethos, for you cannot catch that which cannot be touched..." spoke the woman as she continued to dangle her feet, and as she drew the flower back towards herself. "You are correct in me not being a human... for I something that surpasses a mortal in every way possible."

"Though, that's enough about myself... Oh, and I'm not the one that's going to be claimed here... you are." Glancing towards Varethos, Aetas spoke once more in her monotoneous voice, "I will not take you by force... but I will propose you an offer. You can come with me, where you will take orders from my lord, and have the chance to see the kind of worlds you seek... with life, beauty, knowledge, and even the cold embrace of death. However, you will never be allowed to return to this world, and you run the risk of having a horrible death. Or, you can stay here where it is far safer... and where it will forever be broken by the perfect machinery."

"Your choice is permanent, and you will not be able to take it back... so choose now, Varethos... How would you like to spend your time from now on?"

Varethos to Aetas

"Return to this world...I have nothing to return to...if I had a family, they're one of "them" now, if I had a home, it is destroyed now. There is nothing that binds me to this place. I would do anything to get away from this place...I often tried to destoy myself, too...but it didn´t work. There is no death here anymore, we killed it. I would rather die a free death than exist in this state..."

Calmly, yet firmly he spoke the words:

"I accept your offer and I am ready to face all the consequences that come with it."

Jack to Aetas

"I'd be a foolish old man to think that there's much left to do here..." Jack said, stroking is beard again. He began pacing on what was pure nothingness. "And any excuse to walk amongst those who actually desire my company is a good one...." The intensity of his pacing increased, massive shards of his stormy form billowing from underneath his black cloak.

"There's not a soul to miss me here." His pacing became running, and his running quickly became a speedy, circular, flight. His form became obscured in a swirling blizzard. "And perhaps the stars wouldn't mind passing in private." Faster and faster he flew around he flew around the angel, at speeds that'd rip the atmosphere straight off a smaller planet. "And I cant quite be negligent if I serve a higher cause...."

Out of the massive blizzard eventually shot a bony, pale hand. "Grandfather Winter is at your aid."

Sophia Sullivan

The first thing that Sophia did then was to use her eye to inspect the person in front of her, this being that claimed to be greater than a God. She would come to regret that, for as soon as her eye tried to measure the mana within that one it became overwhelmed and caused a sharp stab of pain to hit Sophia.

Sophia closed her left and rubbed it gently, the frown that was forming on her face due to the woman's words shifting into a little smile. Sophia could appreciate power and it seemed like this woman was not boasting "Why would I shoot at you? If you truly were my enemy then the Magister would not be dead right now"

"I can enjoy a good fight, but I think fighting you wouldn't be fun at all" says Sophia as she moves a few steps, to poke a butterfly stuck still in mid flight.. trying to make sense of the spell that has made time stand still. However, as expected she found not a trace of anything. Either the spell was complicated beyond imagination to be completely imperceptible... or time itself bowed to this woman.

"Still, you have said two curious things so far, Madam. I've had a lot of titles, but Curatio is a first for me. And I've also had a lot of Masters, but I count you not among them to have battled for you"

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Kikyo

"Well he can be really mean. Like the time he sent me to my room for trying to steal cookies, even though I was sooo hungry." Her face mimicked her internal flashback, showing signs of hunger pangs and pouting.

She was quiet for a moment. Peering at one of the flies trapped in time with extreme interest, she reached out and touched it, only for it to fall to the ground. She pulled her finger back, afraid to touch anything else.

"Ummm... who are you again, lady?"

Aetas, with Varethos

Hearing the machine's words... Aetas simply closed her eyes as she listened carefully. Nodding her head, as if accepting his decision and his motives, Aetas opened her eyes, and gently extended a hand towards Varethos.

"That is good to hear... Very well, take my hand, so that we may seal your fate as one of the Keepers of Akasha," spoke the girl as she continued to hold out her hand. "Though, this is your last chance to decide... once you take my hand, your fate will forever be sealed."

Without saying another word, Aetas kept silent... and waited for Varethos to decide his fate.

Aetas, with Jack

Watching Jack at his spectacle, Aetas tilted her head out of amusement, somehow managing to keep her eyes on him even with his god-like speed. Still keeping her eyes on Jack as he created a blizzard, Aetas immediately eyed the hand that shot towards her.

Tilting her head, she extended her own hand... and grasped Jack's. Immediately, a strong strain of pain assaulted Jack's hand... one that felt as if it was an enormous fire burning within. However, it soon ended... and Aetas tilted her head a bit to the side, a small hint of surprise upon her face.

"Curatios...? Interesting... I would have thought you to be a Aequus..." simply nodding her head as she spoke those odd terms, Aetas pulled her hand back and looked upon Jack with a face that held a hint of pity. "I do hope you don't mind having an overly-confident man as your faction leader, Jack... if so, I am sorry."

Aetas, with Sophia

Aetas simply looked with hidden amusement as Sophia rubbed her left eye, and as she tried to deduce the nature of what has caused all time to freeze. Raising her gaze as Sophia raised her two points, Aetas simply took a couple of steps towards the girl before finally speaking.

"Curatio is a term my fellow Knights and I use to describe those Keepers whose skills are under Agnitio's domain. Agnitio is... literally Knowledge itself. Just one of his spells would make all of your magic seem as if it came from a simple ant... so you would do best not to get on his bad side."

"And as for becoming your Master... Well, even though you wont be taking your orders directly from me, I was sent here in order to offer you a proposition," spoke Aetas as she extended her hand casually towards Sophia. "If you take my hand... you will be unable to return to this universe ever again... however, you will be able to experience fights unlike any other, lead people from across other universes to fight for a wondrous cause, and you will be under the employment of a man whose power exceeds my own... and who created the concepts of life and death... essentially, he even created you. Not only that, but you will also have the opportunity to learn and see things that would only be possible in your dreams..."

"So... what shall you do, Sophia? Will you accept this proposal... or refuse?"

Aetas, with Kikyo

Literally face-palming, Aetas let out a sigh... before gazing upon Kiyko with disappointment. She had somewhat wanted the girl to do... something, rather than tell her a story about being hungry and sent to her room without cookies. For a moment, she had wondered how could this girl go from what she was, to this with such a simple seal.

Ignoring her own feelings, Aetas opened her mouth and answered Kikyo's question. "You may call me Aetas. And, before you even ask, I am here for you. I came here to propose to you an offer. Basically, I wish to ask for your assistance in helping me with a task... however, you will be unable to ever return to this place once you accept that task. You will get the opportunity to meet many new people, along with possibly making some interesting friends if you tried hard enough."

"So, what is your decision, little Kikyo? Will you accept this offer of mine?" said Aetas as she extender her hand towards Kikyo.

Kikyo

Perhaps it was some primal impulse, something etched into her being, but Kikyo wanted to say yes. She could meet new people, go to new places, and do things that Father Anderson wanted her to do. But that wasn't the real reason she wanted to go. It went deeper than that, into uncomfortable places she couldn't explain. All she could tell was that she wanted to say yes.

"Ummm... okay? I don't really know what you want me to do, but it sounds exciting!"

Sophia Sullivan

Sophia looked down at Aetas' hand. She could ask a few more questions, but for the moment she mostly understood or could make good assumptions on all the information given to her. And given the overwhelming power of that she who stood in front of her, Sophia felt inclined to believe all she said.

However, there was a problem.

Sophia turned away from Aetas momentarily, looking up at red and purple colored sky of this plane "It is an incredibly offer, Madam. Seriously, if I had no attachments I would take it in a moment. However, the part where I never come back is a true problem for me. See, I love this ridiculous world of mine... war torn as it is, there is good people and true beauty here. And I am the only hope, the only one strong enough to put an end to this conflict. Until that happens, I am bound to remain here"

Aetas, with Kikyo

"Very well then," murmured Aetas as she walked towards Kikyo, her expression remaining the same.

"You just have to take my hand, and we will complete your contract into becoming a Keeper, little Kikyo. Do know that this is permanent, and that there is no turning back... however, I do recommend that you take my hand... since this is a rather desperate situation."

Moving her fingers a bit, Aetas calmly awaited the young girl to take her hand.

Aetas, with Sophia

"If this universe lives that long to see that conflict resolved." Moving her hand and rubbing her temple as she closed her eyes, Aetas inhaled a bit, before exhaling loudly. "Were we under normal conditions, I would happily leave you alone with just that... however, I don't intend to leave behind any of the chosen Keepers without giving them all fair warnings."

"To speak plainly... in the grand scheme of things, this one world that you hold dear to you, compared to yourself, a Champion... is insignificant," stated Aetas bluntly and coldly. Suddenly, the turquoise-haired girl had appeared in front of Sophia, and her eyes held a very... cold aura to them. They seemed infinite, and incredibly mystical as well. "My Lord has shown and taught me much... being his very first creation. One valuable lesson that he has taught me, is that the loss of a single world... is the same as losing a grain of rice, since it is just one world out of an infinite amount of universes."

"Though... allow me to tell you the real reason I have come to get you, along with the other Champions of the many time lines. A being... one that has powers which rival my lord's... has killed all of the previous Keepers who served my lord, and is now destroying the time lines every second while preventing my lord from creating new ones. I am here to retrieve as many Champions as I can, so that I may make them into new Keepers in order to combat the Destroyer and his followers before it is too late to save any of the universes."

Aetas paused a bit, before continuing. "However, there have already been some Champions who have refused my offer... even with all my warnings, and have chosen to stay within their time lines. We could have used their strength in restoring order to all of the time lines, and to recapture the beings that are helping the Destroyer... but I will not force them to do something they do not wish to do. It may make me a hypocrite by acting such, but that is perfectly fine... since being a Keeper is often something far worse than death."

"Now... Since time is of the essence, I will ask you only one last time, Sophia. Will you abandon your duties of this world in order to save every other universe? Or... will you stay with this world till the end? There's a chance of you dying either way... however, I will tell you that you will do more good in the end by assisting us."

Extending her hand towards Sophia one last tine, Aetas continued. "I will not force you... but I will give you the free choice of how you will wish to live from now on; as an immortal protector of all universes, or as a mortal protector of this universe. Which life will you choose, Sophia?"

Sophia Sullivan

"See, the only problem about all that is that I care only barely more than nothing about all of those other time lines and Universes. This insignificant grain of rice is my world... it contains all I love, all I know and all I am. It suits perfectly well such a small being as myself, Madam"

"The price of never seeing this place again, to turn my back on this my world and all who live in it while they need me most... Well, it far outweighs all the power, all the knowledge, all the eternity, all the enemies and challenges I would find in your infinite amount of universes"

"So, if it is a choice of me saving this world or saving all others... I will pick this world every single time, Madam. To you it may be tiny, it might be insignificant, it might be irrelevant... but it is mine. To me it matters more than anything"

"So I would without any hesitation decline your offer, bid you farewell and wish you luck on your endeavors without ever looking back on this choice" says Sophia turning away for a moment and waving her hand as if in goodbye.

"However..." said Sophia, looking back at Aetas, her eyes sharp and full of conviction.

"There is only argument in what you have said that holds any weight with me. That this Universe is in danger. That it might end due to this Destroyer you mention. That after all our efforts, some strange something from outside our Universe might step inside and wipe us out without us even realizing it"

"That is something I cannot allow, something I that I cannot certainly ignore"

"So, I will accept your offer. To become an Immortal Protector... if that's what it takes to ensure this protection of this and only this Universe... Then I shall agree to it, Madam" says Sophia, bowing her head slightly before she takes hold of her hand "Please, allow me to save my Universe"

Jack

"It has been been......" Jack began rubbing his palm, unleashing gusts of snow to dull the almost astral burn. "Quite a while since these cold bones have known pain, Lady Time." He let out a dry chuckle, briefly wrung his hands, and folded his arms into his voluminous robes.

"As to the matter of an overly confident associate, that is something I nearly miss. If this master is half as prideful and full of pomp as Lord Summer, I'll be mired in nostalgia, not irritation." He let out another dry chuckle.

"Though I hope you don't mind if I withhold the bulk of my true form to compare with this master you speak of. If we are to travel across realms and save them, as opposed to decimate them entirely."

Kikyo

Kikyo's eyes lit up, what had come to the surface sinking back into the depths of her psyche. "Father Anderson always did tell me I should help people out when they need it!"

And like that, she took Aetas' hand. It was likely she didn't even know what she was getting into. She probably didn't even comprehend it. But she'd taken her hand, there was no going back now.

Aetas, with Sophia

"A wise decision, Sophia..." murmured Aetas as she gripped her hand and as a burning sensation assaulted Sophia's body. So that it was simply hot... would be very wrong. "We've already wasted enough time bickering... so do excuse me for doing this."

With those words, the turquoise-haired girl immediately pulled Sophia towards her...

Aetas, with Varethos

Gripping onto Varethos' hand, an impossible burning sensation quickly flowed into the machine. "Do not be startled, the sensation will pass in due time... for now, you are to come with me," hummed Aetas as she yanked Varethos towards her...

Aetas, with Jack

"You are going to regret those words, Mr. Jack Frost," murmured Aetas as she suddenly disappeared from in front of Jack. "Agnitio's pride is unlimited... He's unrivaled when it comes to his ego."

"As for your current form, it is fine... since it makes doing this all the more amusing," said the Knight as she appeared behind Jack, and gently pushed him forward...

Aetas, with Kikyo

With a small pause, Aetas felt... just a bit bad for bringing this seemingly innocent girl with her. However, she simply gripped Kikyo's hand as an odd burning sensation began to ravage her as well. With a perfectly calm demeanor, Aetas raised her free hand up.

"I shall accept your help, child... though, I do hope that you can be responsible with yourself..." spoke the girl softly, and as she slowly waved her hand passed Kikyo's eyes... temporarily blocking her vision for just a moment...

...and then, they were gone. The burning sensation faded from the newly chosen Keepers as they were either pulled, pushed, or faded into the new realm. There in front of them, stood not Aetas... but another Keeper. Were they to look, they would see that were there not only a Keeper in front of them, but on the sides and the back of them as well. There were all kinds of Keepers... some who looked like men, women, children, elves, dwarfs, bipedal humanoid-looking lions and dears... heck, there was even a rather large looking rock-like creature that towered over the other Keepers with its tremendous height.

However, there were even more Keepers arriving... and soon enough thousands among thousands of Keepers stood in bewilderment at the place they were brought to. The place that they were now in was nothing like the realm they had come from. Everything felt odd and looked alien... almost as if this realm was one that was not meant for the likes of the newly appointed Keepers. The Keepers would feel that the floor itself felt as if a large, transparent, and endless ocean was beneath their very feet. The sky, complimenting the floor... was equally infinite, but instead of clouds... there were an infinite amount of orbs floating above together, each containing a small image within... while some were pure black and shrouded.

And then suddenly... a small clap echoed throughout the area, one that ringed within the heads of all of the Keepers. The source of the clap... was the perfectly normal looking man who was standing in front of a ethereal throne that was made out of the same material as the floor.

"Welcome, my new Keepers!" roared the man as he clapped his hand, and as his voice somehow managed to reach everyone. Without waiting for anyone to say anything, the man continued. "As of this moment... you all serve me, and my loyal Knights~ Ah! Speaking of knights, you have all met one of them already," chimed the man as he designated the girl next to him... who had somehow managed to appear by his side. Leaning in, he whispered rather loudly towards her, not really caring what the Keepers thought. "...You couldn't have picked out better looking people...? Out of the many thousand here, most of them are rather-"

"More are coming, Lord... these are just the first ones to have accepted my proposal," sighed Aetas as she tried to ignore the man's behavior. It was not working.

"Ah... that's right. Oh well... hopefully we'll get some good looking ones soon. Anywho... from now on I recommend that you abandon your moral codes, your self 'vows', or whatever it is that you all believe personally... for I honestly will not care what excuses you have if you simply do not complete your tasks," stated the blonde man as he grinned at all the Keepers.

"Oh, and I might as well introduce you all to your Faction leaders," as he spoke, three new figures suddenly appeared by the man's side. "You've all already met Aetas, my first Knight who reigns over Time. Keepers who are a Aequus, or in your mortal tongue a Planeswalker, will be serving under her." Turning towards the three new figures, the hooded man nodded his head, and gave them the signal to go ahead.

Slithering forward, a rather seductive looking woman smiled a genuine and warm smile at the horde of Keepers, before speaking in a soft voice. "I am Anima... and I reign over all Life. Keepers who are a Dolosuses, or in other words a Lifebringer, will be learning and taking their orders from me."

Immediately after she finished, a tall black knight walked next to her, and gently patted her upon the head. "I am Abeo... and where as Anima reigns over all Life, I reign over Death. Those Keepers who fight with only their brute strength and agility will serve under me as Comminuses, or Executioners."

"And I am Agnitio... out of my brother and sisters, I am the most intelligent by reigning over Knowledge," murmured a calm man as he simply leaned back in his chair, his fingers entwined with one another as a smug smile emerged upon his face. "I will be leading all those with a high intellect as Curatios... or Speallweavers for the simple-minded. Oh, and feel free to personally thank me for all of your future missions later."

Rolling his eyes at Agnitio's remark, the normal-looking man simply took a step forward in front of his four knights, and scanned the whole array of Keepers. Smiling wider, he cleared his throat. "Now, before we continue on, does anyone here have any questions that they would liked answered~? Also, please... please refrain from asking stupid questions... I hate people who ask stupid questions."

Everything for a moment was silent... Even some of the more scary looking and intimidating Keepers kept their mouths shut. It was almost as if they were all waiting for the few brave souls to ask the being who has yet to properly introduce himself the first questions...

Sometimes, you just gotta do the unexpected to catch the expected unexpected individual who you are expecting.

"I would hope that your more a fan of simple questions......", said Jack. He slowly made his way to the front of the hodge-podge crowd, not so much walking, but gliding across the transparent floor. Nearer to the seat of the throne, he stopped.

"For those are often the wisest to ask, in my experience. That leads me to ask; who exactly are you?"
