I think that they were not playing the Tanklathon as official Saunders tank crewgirls, so they went ahead and had silly faces painted on.

Too bad something as advanced and powerful as my VTOL A-Gear from Ace Online isn't Senshadou-legal, even if I stripped it down to the rookie guarder and rookie cannon (Not to mention it can take off and fly).

(For maximum explanation, The Anima Mortar (A-Gear) Airframe from Ace Online is a VTOL-capable hovertank, armed with a rapid rocket bundle and a mass driver cannon. It's got loads of shields, and you can unlock a variety of powerful abilities, like an antimissile shield, a power surge that rapidly recharges your shields, and a charged shot attack that can destroy opponents and has massive splash damage. Never mind that it has siege mode, which locks mobility but improves the stability of the rotating turret mass driver, improving accuracy, effective range, and rate of fire. Did I mention that you can also unlock the ability to activate Siege mode midflight and come to a dead stop in midair, becoming a floating turret dishing tremendous damage rapidly? In an environment like Senshadou, without B-Gear and their deadly bombing run barrages, difficult to hit I-Gears and their merciless storm of missiles, and stupidly durable M-gears packing armor-piercing missiles, A-Gears would be able to trump even the 21st-century Abrams, even with the crappy rookie gear they dump on you when you're training in Free SKA!)

Seriously, directing the driver is usually done with a stick or by punting them, not by basically massaging/tickling their shoulder/neck with your feet and toes :V

From what I can gather from Rin's speech bubbles, Shizuka is not merely commanding Rin on which direction the tank should go or general speed changes (i.e. "slow down" or "speed up"), but telling her to make unusually specific movements ("Target Anchovy's tank", "Slow down slightly", "To the left...", "Keep the hull steady") depending on how she touches her with her foot. How the hell Rin could even understand the naunces of her foot "gestures" without having any prior experience with them or a deep emotional rapport with Shizuka may be an indicator that Shizuka somehow subconsciously recognizes things about Rin that even Rin isn't aware of.

Seriously? Also Shizuka deliberately approached Rin to ask her to "be her horse", so this level of understanding is insanely deep. It's like the bonds of True Companions or the bonds of lovers.

Also it clearly excites Rin to have this kind of close contact.

Could they have been childhood friends or something? Or perhaps Shizuka is a stalker good enough not to be caught?

As far as what's been said, Rin and Shizuka are merely classmates who apparently never spoke before the latter invited her to tankathlon.

One thing I noticed is that Rin, despite never having spoken to Shizuka before the whole underground tank sport business (Seriously it's kinda like that if official Senshadou is a legit sport), thought of her as a princess.

... Well, technically, the word hime literally means "young lady of noble birth", and can just as well be applied to a non-royal "princess" (i.e. anyone who qualifies as an "ojousama"). And Shizuka definitely seemed to exude the aura of grace and social loftiness that would give such an impression.

Well, okay. In any case, AK subs is doing all the Ribbon Warrior translations.

Just started trying out the English dub and the voices sound a little different from my expectations, lol. Saori getting the sort-of-Valley Girl treatment feels kinda off :V

It just gets me that all of the dub voices improve over time but the President's. Like, four episodes in, the voices start sounding better. Not hers. Argh.

Say, what's the actual word used in Ribbon Warrior for "tankathlon"? We know that "tankery" is denoted with senshadou in in-universe Japan, for example.

I dunno, we'll need to find the raws.

Reading many chapters of Love Love Operation in one sitting is never a bad thing.

Chapter 17:

• Anchovy's command poses are always badass.
• Aw, Momo is loved. But still under-appreciated.
• Wait, why's Pepperoni a hostage? Cappricio, I get, but...

Chapter 18:

• Nonna's smiling face must be a sight to behold.
• Such magnificence! Nina was totally in awe. So she couldn't help but topple it over. Don't blame her for its balance issues.
• Huh, so Katyusha was right in going for the avant-garde look.

• Anchovy's a formidable goalkeeper. Beware of whiplash, though.
• Shocking truth! Anchovy wears contacts! And she doesn't always look badass! But contacts, man!

• A chef's worst nightmare: a customer with a bottomless stomach.
• The Anglerfish costume will now set Anzio's fashion scene on fire with its chic design and elegance.
