Jean at least is trying to give future history students some eyecandy to look at when bored in class, I can respect that.

At least we have Falco and Gabi for a healthy relationship, and can always fanon/meme Fingerstein happening down the line if need be.

@m84 Considering that Isayama has said that Game of Thrones seasons 1-6 influenced how he was going to do the final arc, I think Eren Jaeger is supposed to be Bran Stark.

I can't help but feel repulsed at the events that have occurred.

Ao T is known for having some fairly realistic conversations when it comes to human matters like this.

How the rest of the world ate Armin's rhetoric up is beyond me. 100 years wasn't able to heal the scars left by 1700 years of Eldia oppressing the world - but the near slaughter of the remaining Eldians was solved by **Umi Da**?

I don't even know what to say. The latest chapters weren't the best ones, but... holy fucking shit.

It's like most of the manga is a 9-10/10 and this chapter is a 1/10. It feels like a bad joke.

As someone who was blown away by chapter 121 and 122, a lot of the things Eren says and does make 0 fucking sense here.

- He says he won't leave Paradis' fate to chance 5 chapters ago, then does just that by taking away their Titan powers and the Rumbling and dying

- He apparently really loved Mikasa yet... never did anything about it. Like this woman had hearts in her eyes whenever she looked at him. Why did he never act on it? Even fucking Armin was better than him at expressing his feelings and Armin barely knows Annie.

This is just full of plot holes and makes Eren feel like a completely different person. The real Eren is the one from Chapter 131, a kid disgusted with the horrible things he has to do. He's a tragic hero (for his nation) who has to pull the trigger. The Eren in 139 makes no sense.

@The Airman I've already head-canon'd Jean and Mikasa having the craziest imaginable sex possible as Bird! Eren watches and cacawing that she was supposed to wait at least 10 years. Cue crying bird.

Basically this is how it ends for them. ◊ Suffer and cry for me more, Eren. muahahaha

@Mad Skillz: Given how Ymir was the catalyst for everything that happened, her just disappearing like that isn't what I'd call a good resolution of anything

But whatever, you already seem to have decided this ending is perfectly fine, so I'm not going to debate with you about that.

I mean, it sounds better than the spoilers/early translations made it sound. Still some nonsensical and skeevy bits, but not the worst thing ever.

Instruction manual on character, themes and overall story destruction. Everything Eren ever said is

meaningless, he says one thing in one chapter, then the complete opposite in the next chapter. So many plot holes in this chapter.

He actually had to try and make it this bad, it reads as a really bad fanfic. What was the point of chapter 130 and telling Historia his plan, what was the point of Historia asking him what he thinks of her having a child. Genuinely wouldn't surprise me if they took out that whole conversation from the anime when the adapt it. It's pretty obvious he was influenced to change the ending, all the Historia/Ymir parallels in the manga and anime they beat us over the head with and he turns around in the last chapter and decides its actually Mikasa who parallels Ymir which makes no sense.

And somehow Ymir wasn't a slave? What the fuck was the point of chapter 122 then, it quite literally shows her as a slave, Eren has to tell her you're not a slave, but suddenly she loves the groomer pedo rapist King Fritz.

I had such high hopes Eren wouldn't be like all of the other trash-tier M Cs in most anime and manga, but Isayama had to go and shit the bed he made and slept in.

It's funny how Go T is apparently the standard to which badly written endings are compared to. I personally don't think Ao T reaches that mark yet, though points for trying, I guess.

In a way, Eren kept his promise. He eradicated every single living Titan.

I hope the My Anime List Full Metal Alchemist fans are happy, cause their manga and anime adaptations are still gonna be number 1 after this chapter.

Tbh, I'm more confused than angry or disappointed.

I literally have several questions, but I suppose they're meaningless at this point.

@Violet The chapter explains it on the Eren bits. When Eren unlocked those memories, he gradually became more and more insane to the point that he felt incoherent even to himself. His mind was in the past, present and future and therefore everything's already happened to him making it all inevitable. He's incapable of changing his mind because everything's already been written for him so all he can do is move forward until someone kills him. He's the biggest slave of all.

@Yakuza I'm definitely not behind the Ymir bits. That stuff is just bad. Her resolution is bad. The character endings for a lot of the main cast is fine but I'm not counting Ymir in that. There are other things that I think have worse problems that has to do with framing.

How’s the reception in Japan?

I recall the reception to the last several chapters have been generally positive there compared to the divisive reactions from the west.

The fact Eren lives on in birbs is why this shit is still hilarious cause it means PATHS is still there. They just can’t access it anymore.

Japan isn't as outspoken as the West about shit like this.

In general, people in Japan are just satisfied that Isayama finished his work.

Now granted, you can probably go to 2ch for similar reactions as the West.

Gotta love how Mikasa is apparently the most important person in the world, but we absolutely no answer as to why or how. And what was the deal with her headaches?

They’re probably too busy memeing about Rebuild of Evangelion which is still going strong over there.

Which also has its own uncomfortableness with a certain character that even one of the Japanese V As comments on it cause they find it ridiculous.

I read a comment from a Korean fan explaining the reception to the last chapter in the fandom and they said they were satisfied but that the ANR ending had no real supporters there and the most popular ending theories were Code Geass or Timeloop ending

I know Titanfolk melted down from the leaks but they were very pro-Jaegerist there and the reception has warmed a bit since english typeset came out

HA! ZERO REQUIEM BULLSHIT CALLED IT! I'm glad I lost all emotional investment in this series, otherwise I'd probably be very upset. It's like the difference between being in a car when it goes over a cliff verses just watching it happen.

Yeah but when you get scathing comments you get scathing ones. I’ve seen too many that do call it uncomfortable masturbation. Like you can’t look away from how bad it is when you do get Japanese reviews that aren’t favorable.

And in general they even meme a ship with Shinji Ikari and a minor character over the one that happens in the movie.

Man, Reiner talking about "What a man" Eren was is probably the point when I busted out laughing.

You know, in theory, there's nothing wrong with a lot of the choices in this chapter, but the framing is what isn't doing it for me.

The "Ymir actually liked being a slave" bit is probably the point when I just mentally checked out.

I honestly can’t take Reiner seriously anymore. Especially as all his PTSD disappeared the moment it was inconvenient for the plot. The story really feels like it tossed anything across the final arcs that is inconvenient for where it ends.

Reiner is probably the most blatant case of character assassination.

I'm not one to jump on the hate train like everyone else, but that's just too jarring of a shift in character for me to not call it out.
