I've been "Meh" on this series for a while now since Eren turned into a genocidal maniac, but this ending though...The only way it makes sense is if Isayama is making a point about facism being inherently dumb, but then we have the stuff with Historia and Ymir, so I just don't know.

Honestly looking back on what he’s done since the timeskip doesn’t make sense with how he acts in the last chapter. Even apologizing to the kid that gets stomped. Because in the end all he cared about was MUH Mikasa and playing God.

The issue with Game of Thrones is that supposedly the ending would be similar to that of the novels, but characterization had been going sideways for a few years for it to be valid.

Same! I'm very pleased with how Jean turned out and Armin really knocked it off the park several times. Just for that, the manga's not a wash for me.

Considering I bit the bullet and binged the entire anime with my sister some time late last year, I have many MANY concerns cause I was looking forward to finishing it with her and this is all very...yeah. I guess great pretender will be dethroned in most disappointing ending at least

Which is not the answer of someone who actually learned something from what happened. Spoiler warning but pic related since it still means Eren still had a point when it really shouldn’t have, especially as it turns out he was just an Incel Narcissist with a God complex.

I do think Mad Skillz theory of Falco being the one dealing with Eren would have been vastly more preferable.

I'm a bit more bothered by how nothing really changed besides Historia's apparently a fascist now. Paradis is still under the control of the Yeagerists and they and the world still want to destroy each other. At this point, I'm half expecting there's a bomb in that ship and it killed all of the Alliance to ensure the cycle of revenge would continue.

Amusingly enough, the thing that annoys me most is the implication that Reiner apparently still pining for Historia. Like dude, give it up. It's been 9 years and she's a fascist now going against what you're trying to do. It just annoys me they ended his character on that since from the Marley Arc, they made me like him more. The Eren reveal doesn't annoy me as much as I thought.

Eren guilt tripped her into siding with him so honestly I wouldn’t be surprised by this development. In the end she can either try to go along with what he set in motion or give up.

It makes the scene where she even reminds him of how his mother died worse because he not only goes through with it he killed his mom too.

...Wait a second, since Eren just undid the Titanization of the Eldians in the fort (what a goddamn waste of page space that was), couldn't he undo it for all the Wall Titans? If nothing else, having several million century-old Eldians blinking awake in the rubble of the civilized world would make for a nice visual.

That vision of Kid!Eren soaring above the clouds being free makes a lot of sense if I think of it from Birderen's perspective actually.

I guess. I just think if this was supposed to say how War Is Hell and "fascism is bad" then it's a terrible way to say it. Considering how the Yeagerists still control Paradis, and are backed up by the Queen, and everyone still wants to go to war with each other. Couldn't he have the Yeagerists collaspe and imprisoned? And end it one something like "the present is grim, but there's still hope for the future"? Cause from what the spoilers indicate, the Alliance are aware that going to "peace talks" will amount to nothing. Actually, I'm surprised how the Alliance are actually still alive and allowed to live on the island.
