Apparently Youtube used 32-bit integers for their view counter, which has an upper limit of just under 2.15 billion before the code breaks and the number loops around to a negative number.
Guess what video forced them to upgrade to a 64-bit integer view counter? 
(And for a bonus, go watch Gangnam Style and mouse over the number of views.)

It looks like it had a good run on the top, but in the next month or two "Gangnam Style" is all but guaranteed to be dethroned as most viewed video (by the music video for Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again", which is trailing it by just under 40 million views and already took the "most liked" crown from it).
Once again, it holds true that nothing lasts forever.
