Shonen Jump ToC Rankings

Just caught up with Zipman. Damn, I like the designs, but I get that the protagonists might not seem that charismatic (even though I like them). And things are feeling a bit rushed too. I really hope it can last, but with that ranking...

As for Mashle, I still think it's a gag manga and it shouldn't get in the rankings, but if it does, I really fear for Zipman. And will really find it hard to understand Shueisha's judgment.

So in the Undead x Unluck universe there's apparently no stars in the night sky? Interesting plot point I guess?

Well, Guardian of the Witch ch. 3 explains why they need to take the witch alive: apparently only the witch's guardian can kill her safely, so they need to capture her, get her to bond with a new guardian, and have him kill her.

Wish that coulda been slipped into the initial assassination explanation, but hey I'll take it.

Probably the fault of someone who answers to Unlit or some such.

Next week, Yozakura and Mitama will both get color pages; MHA will be absent.

Yozakura sold about 11,000 volumes in its first six days (about on par with Act-age or KNY's first volumes). Mitama sits at about 5,000 copies, so its situation is a little more precarious, but it's still getting a color page so… let's wait and see.

None of that bodes well for Samurai 8's fate though.

In fairness to the Act-Age anime situation, it probably takes time to drum up voice actors who can portray roles based on being the best actor ever. It's a bit of an ask! :V

Didn't Kn Y took three years to have an anime announced and made?

And who are experienced in stage play acting, I guess. Not that easy, admittedly. =[

Yeah, it took a little while for KNY too. Act-age seems to get more publicity overall though, what's with the JVC ads, real-fake websites and all.

Hey, Astra Lost in Space didn't get animated until two years after it ended.

Da fuck chapters 7-45 of Act-Age isn't on Viz. The hell?

They haven't got around to backfilling it, as it originally did not run in the U.S. version. Incidentally, the official site has now added the series "The Right Way to Draw Jump" that ran back in the day.

Demon Slayer, Haikyuu, and Twin Star Exorcists still have gaps as well, but Jujutsu Kaisen got filled in last week so that's something I guess.

Aaand KNY proceeded to sell 3 million more volumes last week.

It's scary. Not only is it on tracks to beat One Piece's 2011 sales record (37 million), it is doing that with only 20-ish volumes instead of 50…

I don't think anyone could have foresee Kn Y steam roll everything.

For real. This is the first manga in a while where I just don't get it, and I'm starting to annoy myself trying to.

What's there to "get"? Lots of people like it, it came during a time there was a void of traditional Shounen Battle series, and the anime was well-adapted, that's all there is to it.

Well Kn Y is very japanese, it theme, aesthetic, time period and characters all very Japanese and resonated with the Japanese audience more than OP or MHA

How much of it is a matter of people buying previous volumes en masse in order to get caught up?

That plays a big role, obviously. That's also what happened with One Piece after the Strong World movie.

What did happen with One Piece after Strong World?

A huge Newbie Boom, from what I get?

undead unluck is still fun, but I feel they were a bit too unsubtle about the new girl's power.

Also I hope this series undergoes art evolution cause while I overall like the art, flow and designs, it's not a manga I'd physically buy (I determine my manga buying by how much I like looking at the pages)

Of course, Demon Slayer still has a ways to go to break One Piece's record for total manga sales.

Yeah, that probably won't happen. XD

I find Gina's power in U2 a bit confusing… "canceling a change of state"? The hell does that mean?

edit: Oh, no wonder I felt like I had skipped a chapter. That's because I did. Really like Gina after reading chap 5.
