I have no idea right now whether anyone ever tried going to that other secret base or not.

Addendum: I said we had eleven transporter-watches, but Terrific said we had sixteen or something back before the Earth-1 team left. I was just going by the people mentioned back when we split up into groups to go through the sewers, so...

Sorry for the delay in posting guys; I was hoping for Totemic to make a post. I'm still hoping, (considering that I'm talking to her character and all,) but in the meantime, I'll try to move things along a bit.smile

What happened to Mr. Cliche's sword beam?

Wow, when did I become a "her"...

kk, I was waiting for your response to my previous post in this thread. No, I don't consider telling someone else about what my character did prior in the RP significant. I consider my character (and the other players through their characters) actually being able to offer input about what we, as a group, should do next to be significant.

In retrospect, speaking from prior RP experience, you messed up when you originally built this arc up as the final arc, only to break that sort of thing later. The initial goal was to confront Comedy and stop the kidnappings. Instead of letting us go about just doing that, in whatever way we choose to do it, you're taking us on all kinds of side tours (and hinting that there's even more going on), which is rather boring. And because of how you did it, now we can't even get back onto the main track without nine kinds of Aborted Arc and What Happened to the Mouse? being put in.

If I can't actively play out my character, and I can't actually progress towards the central plot goals of the RP, then there's not a lot of reason for me to participate. And if you aren't actually going to listen to me and get the RP back on a better track, then there go the rest of my reasons. So let me know what you want to do, and then we will see exactly what role Medium plays in the future.

@Space Jawa: You're in the Rebel Base, with everyone else. If you have any more questions about where your character is and what you're supposed to be doing, just ask me.smile

@Totemic Hero: ...I'm sorry, but I just don't see the problem. For one, we are on the main track. We're ''supposed to go the Rebel Base, to the lab, and then use a transporter from there to get to an airship where Comedy is, and then you take him out. Second, this may actually be the final arc. I admit, I did have plans for later stuff, but I'm actually getting a bit burned out on the RP as well, so we may just end up beating Comedy, getting everyone back home, and leave it at that.

But as for doing things in your own way, well, I guess we differ on that. I gave you the opportunity to talk to each other, do a few things of your own, in places such as the walks to the base, and in the base itself, but it seemed that some players were a bit lost. It may also have to do with my style of RP'ing; I like to give some freedom, but I also like having an interesting plot as well. I also like to keep things moving when things are going slow, or when the players seem at a loss at what to do. In fact, the last RP I did was much more controlled then this one, believe it or not, and I lost nearly everyone within 3 months in the process.tongue

But, we are on the central plot of the RP, I told you how we're going to proceed just a couple of paragraphs ago, and there aren't really going to be any sidetrips. Now, as for doing what you want in the RP, I don't think I really directly controlled characters singularly, other then just moving the crew along into the next area, but if it bothers you so much... I can try to not do that thing as much anymore, and not control your character at all, in any way, if you so wish. Just tell me, and I'll comply. But other then all that, I don't really know what to tell you.

To be fair, I think part of my frustrations stem from the fact that everyone (both you and the other people here) conveniently forgot where Alex was originally from. Reasonably, they ought to be giving her opinions on things at least some consideration, if not outright asking for them. (Any issues with how much she could reveal could be settled via PM.)

However, to top it all off, you basically separated me from everyone else (and ridiculously so, as waiting another two days would have gotten one of the missing people to post), writing yourself into a corner where there can be no bad consequences for whatever I chose to do in regards to helping Malandros. At that point it stopped mattering what I posted, as Medium was not in real danger (and neither was Malandros), and you were too concerned about getting to Plot Point Q to actually put in the risk that necessitates the tricky choices.

Yes, it takes longer. But making our choices have real impact...and holding the looming threat of immediate Bad Things over us...is key to being a good GM.

I... You might be right. Maybe, sometimes, I could wait a bit more before just going ahead with whatever. I can try and be more aware of that, but you have to understand; I want to keep things moving. I can wait for a day or two, maybe even three, but beyond that, I'll to get things moving again. However, within that time-limit, when it comes to how the heroes 'save the day', or defeat their opponents, or whether or not they 'get out of this one', I can leave that up to the players. It might not be perfect, but I'll try the best I can.

Speaking of which, I find baal increasinly difficult to wedge in without one upping someone like Strix or the sort, and seeing how the rp is going, it'd be best if I just stopped trying and assume that he dies or something.

Any ideas on how to tackle Baal's problem? So far the only thing i've managed is to be either ignored or pissing off other characters.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Um... I'm very, very sorry to say this... but I think it's time to end the RP. I just... I've completely lost my drive to play it through and finish it. Part of it is that I've simply been getting interested in other things, but the other... is that the RP simply isn't interesting anymore itself. I think I might have had not enough freedom after all. There was freedom at first, but once we got into Earth-2, there was just one plot-line to follow, and that was that. It was just me moving players along from one point to the next. Any attempts to try to give you 'freedom' still didn't really let you branch off and do your own thing for a bit. In addition to that, half of the players seem to have just walked away. I really think I could have done a better job, but we're already past the point where I could have things open up a bit. But what it all comes down is that, as the GM, I have to enjoy GM'ing this RP. I can't just do it out of obligation, because then the RP becomes a half-hearted effort on my part. I don't know, but maybe there's something I haven't thought of, but... it's very likely that this RP may, very soon, be coming to an end.

Now, does that mean we can't see the storyline that has been building for the last 9-10 months come to it's conclusion? Not necessarily. If there's enough demand, I'm willing to stay a bit longer, and (somehow,) get us straight to the final battle. I may be 'burnt out', but damn it if I'm just going to let this story go without giving it some kind of closure.

But, you've heard what I have to say, so, I'm willing to hear your thoughts.

[up]Sorry to hear it... I enjoyed it while it lasted but if you are burned out its better for you not to continue. That said, I want to hear a semblance of what you had planned for our great finale, if you could provide one here.

Glad to hear you all (or those who've actually read this thread recently...) liked the RP. Maybe we can do another one sometime.smile But for now, I'd still like to give this RP some decent sense of closure, and so, I think I'll do a plot summary. It won't be as good as, say, fan-fiction or the like, seeing how it's only summarizing the ending-that-never-was instead of showing it, but it's something. I'll get to it soon enough, but it might have to wait a bit. Again, glad to hear you all enjoyed the RP, and I hope to see you in other stuff again sometime.smile

In other news, I'm doing a much more ridiculous RP of my own, if anyone is interested.

[up]Thank, Totemic. I admit, there were some problems with the RP later down the line, but I think it was good while it lasted. Oh, and looking at your new RP, I think I'm interested in it.smile After GM'ing my own RP with it's fairly serious, very involved plotline, it's be nice to try something different.smile However, I still intend to put up a summary of what I had planned for the end of this RP, so you all can still expect that.smile
