That's quite encouraging to read, thank you. ^_^
As to the social features, I may very well never use those, or use them only very sparingly, so a lack in those elements doesn't bother me overmuch.
My Games & WritingMy apologies for the necro-posting, but it seems appropriate in this case. As per the Desura page on the site:
Update: For a while they had placeholder pages up on desura.com and indieroyale.com but recently those two pages have become blank.
Meanwhile their Twitter accounts are just throwing gaming-related meme images around for some reason.
The website is back up again but not much is working.
Why would they even bother at this point? I'm pretty sure all of the game developers who once had content on Desura have moved on to greener pastures, and the brand name has already suffered damage, so there's little reason in continuing.
EDIT: Yeesh... doubly so, now that I'm reading the links on the page. Most of those haven't been updated for a couple of years now, and many of them are outright encouraging customers to seek downloading their games elsewhere for a variety of reasons.

From a selfish perspective, I'm hoping for a chance to pull down my games...
Why would you want to pull them down?
It's slang for "take out from storage", here meaning "download".
Yeah, this isn't coming back. Bought up by Finish company Behemouse and now hosting online minigames.
Never used their customer service.
All the games I have on my Desura account are, I think, DRM-free. At least, the ones I've downloaded. I can open them without starting Desura or being connected to the internet at all.
Considering that, I don't see how they'd revoke your license to play anything.
For what it's worth, Desura runs the Indie Royale. Not all Royale games are on Desura, but most are. So Desura is basically a haven for tons of indie games you've never even heard of. Of course, that doesn't mean they're all good, but there are a number of great games that haven't made it to Steam — such as Flying Red Barrel, Slydris, Explodemon, and others. (FWIW, I've played all three of those, that's why I know them.)
In fact, the Royales are a great way to get Steam keys along with DRM-free versions of games, at the same time. In fact, I don't ever remember seeing a game with a Desura key that didn't also have a non-Desura installer, in a Royale bundle. According to Wikipedia, Desura is officially DRM-agnostic, and I think the way they do this is by simply leaving it up to the publisher to choose what, if any, DRM to package with their software.
My only complaints about Desura are that their social features could use a little bit of improvement, and the Desura window sometimes starts slightly displaced from where it last was. Minor issues, really.
