Well yes Super Saiyan 2 still exists, I'm just saying that's not what Gohan used against Cell.
I agree (at least with the power of retcons - but its more like retconning a retcon in my view). Super Hero is putting right what the Buu Saga put wrong - That Gohan's power fighting Cell was Super Saiyan 2, rather then Gohan's own, unique hidden power that had been built up since Raditz. But now its okay for people to have their own Super transformations again, so Gohan can have it back.

In hindsight, that should have always been the explanation for Gohan's strength.
I've had an idea in my head for a while that SSJ 2 should've been something unique to Saiyan hybrids, while the equivalent power up for a full-blooded Saiyan would be SSJ 3.
Obviously, the names would've been different.

Well, now that Beast has been confirmed to be a thing anyone could theoretically do, it'll be a matter of time before Heroes milks it to the extreme.
How canon is XV 2? I never knew that to be a thing to consider.
Its not. Its part and parcel with Heroes.
It's pretty convoluted to argue that Gohan was doing something different to what Goku and Vegeta did later despite them achieving their forms after seeing Gohan doing it, both gaining the same lightning aura, end up with a similar level of power as Gohan, and how both Gohan and Goku get spikier blonde hair from the transformation.
The argument is that originally, Gohan WASN'T using a new level of Super Saiyan; That the power he unlocked when fighting Cell was all Gohan. But then Dragon Ball kept going, and Gohan lost his protagonist spot, so it was retconned to be Super Saiyan 2, something not unique to him. With the hope being that now Beast Gohan is a make-good, them giving Gohan back that power that was supposed to be his own.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Dimps was just being a bit lazy there. I do find it interesting that they added Beast before UI, also they should give Namekian CACs Piccolo's new forms.

I can't believe Xenoverse 2 lasted longer than Fighter Z.
Arena fighters tend to have an easier time at implementing new characters than traditional fighters do, plus I'm pretty sure Arcsys is busy with other fighting games at the moment. As much as I would like for them to do more DLC or even a sequel, I kinda wanna see Arcsys dabble on a Jump crossover game. Aside from DB, they've also done work on One Piece and Fist of the North Star titles, so they got some material to work with. Plus, Spike's gonna be too busy working on the next Tenkaichi to do work on the next Jump crossover anyways.
There's absolutely no reason to think that.
Hell, we know it's not exclusive to Gohan even in the Cell Games because Cell undergoes a similar power-up and even compares it to Gohan's Super Saiyan 2! Cell doesn't have any of Gohan's cells, either.
Ever since Cell turned up the talk had been about the Saiyans finding a way to go beyond Super Saiyan, leading to the creation of Grade 2 and 3, as well as Super Saiyan Full Power. What Gohan achieves at the end of all that is the first true ascension past Super Saiyan.
There's never been any reason to think it's something other than a new Super Saiyan form.

Trunks even said that Gohan managed to ascend correctly, as in being able to get more powerful without sacrificing any speed or vice versa.
I think people just assumed it was a power up exclusive to Gohan because it was explicitly tied to his rage boost, something that was exclusive to him at the time.
