Manga/Dragon Ball

Gohan's one contribution to the Cell arc before his big fight with Cell was him investigating Cell's Time Machine with Trunks and Bulma. That's literally it. Taken as the culmination of Gohan's build-up in the previous seasons, it works, but if you look at the Cell saga in isolation, Gohan has no presence in it whatsoever until he's suddenly the last hope.

Before the Cell fight, Gohan literally has just as much presence in the Cell Saga as Yajirobe does.

That's not true at all. Gohan's training with Good is a pretty big deal, as his part in Trunks' backstory.

The ROSAT is a big turning point because it's where he becomes a Super Saiyan, and Goku outright says that he'll surpass him.

It's be preeeeetty weird for him to become a Super Saiyan and then not have a role in the rest of that arc.

I think the Gohan/Trunks' relationship should have been explored more, and maybe he should have gone with Trunks' and Kuririn to Gero's lab. But there's not really a whole lot else for him to do.

So, apparently, Kamiccolo was Monsieur Thenardier ban-evading. I always thought the lack of an avatar combined with such active posting habits was a tad off.

Going with Trunks instead of Kriller would've made more sense, just something.

While that caught me off guard, I want to state that having no avatar isn't ground for assuming someone is a ban evader. I know plenty of tropers who don't use one that have been here for years.

Yeah, that's always struck me as odd. Like, Toriyama has been open about the fact that he tried to make Gohan the main character and even said so within the manga.

I can understand people thinking that Toriyama was forced to change Gohan from fan/editor reaction, due to how abrupt it was and that his interviews aren't as well known, but there are people insisted that Gohan was never intended to be the main character even after they're informed that was the case. I'm not trying to say anyone here was doing that, but it's just one thing that has stuck out to be as truly strange.

Also, dorky/nerdy characters can still be cool, something the older Gohan pulled off well until Toriyama just didn't bother writing him out properly.

Well, good riddance. Thenardier used to creep me out due to how sheerly far-right he was, and Kamiccolo's agressivity was off-putting.

Gohan was odd; he was the viewpoint character for plenty of Z, he contrasted Goku in terms of not being as static, but all in all Dragon Ball wasn't written with a long-term plot on mind, just general details.

Current for the anime or current for the manga?

Man watching U9 get erased reminds you that no matter the reason, the fact they actually did it & so casually at that really does show that the Zeno's & Angel's are inhumanly cruel beings.

I mean mass murder at a multi-universal scale, I think only a few guys like Rick Sanchez or the Anti-Moniter has pulled shit like that.

Nah, you see, it's totally okay because this was all a test, since if the the winner just so happen to be omniscient or insane and wishes back the universe in spite of the fact that all contestants are told that the tournament is held to wipe out the low quality universe, thus doing so would be going against Zeno's wishes, then all the universes would get to survive.

Ah of course, what a brilliant and truly not last minute cop-out I mean "Test" of character.

I mean its not like the Zenos got rid of universes 13 -18 on a whim... or one destroyed Trunks timeline when they could have just dealt with Zamusu while only preserving itself and its guard

So are the Zeno Death Group really the bad guys here?

I don't think it being a Secret Test of Character and the Zen-Ohs being wrong/amoral are mutually exclusive. They're still a couple of bastards just for doing it in the first place, even if there was another layer to it. Take note of just how much time next episode is dedicated to all the characters processing the destruction of a universe.

Its worse in this case because U13-18 is a Noodle Incident (we don't see how he acted) & the Zamasu thing you can possibly justify.

With the TOP we see them force tons of people to fight for their lives in bloodsport for poorly defined (we still don't know what mortal levels mean) & they treat the whole thing as a game. You have these people giving it their all to save everything they know & love, several undergoing a Despair Event Horizon, the Destroyers selfish bastards to the extreme pissing their pants & giving last rites, & up there you have the Zeno's reacting to the whole thing like a children's television show & Grand Padre enabling/engaging along with their immaturity.

They are essentially spitting on all the lives of the people because they are treating them like commodities, toys for their own pleasure, animals to fight for the scraps they throw at them, & then thrown out into the garbage without a second thought. Then when its over they basically go "Nah bro it was just a test & you passed. Good thing you did too, we would have killed you otherwise."

Zeno & the Angels for the most part are fucking monsters. With them as the apparently unstoppable Gods, DB really has become a Cosmic Horror Story.

I don't know you could probably make an argument she should have been on to Zamasu... then again Whis seems to set the standard that if its not directly dealing with their Destroyer... The Angels seem to be no interference

then again that turns around to Zamasu was Gowasu's picked replacement'and he seemed awfully amped to give his job up' so He was gonna get linked to Ramushi
