Who knows...thing is they basically say "it is only when the EU doesn't do the reforms we want". Yeah..worked so well for the UK, didn't it? But the typical Af D voter LOVES this kind of grandstanding.
Regarding Rosa Luxemburg: As the article rightly points out, she is a complicated figure in German history.
On a different note...Maaß should really learn to be more careful what he says. At this point he should know that the Brits interpret every notion of "further talks" as "yeah! they are open to renegotiate the withdrawal agreement!"

She is more than complicated. She actively lobbied for Civil War in Germany, and fought against a government that wanted to implement a fully democratic constitution. She ultimately did more harm than good. Unfortunately her murder made her a martyr, and the GDR made her a hero, but this picture is now (slowly) correctes by historians.
So guess which party just got put as a whole on Examination by the Verfassungsschutz *sips tea*
"You can reply to this Message!"Always nice to see, when radicals are their own worst enemies. Given how much corruption had surfaced just by a light overlook on the AFD's doings, I am quite curious what an actual investigation will find... *takes a cup from 3of4 and sips too*

Considering that they had a very hard time to get to the NPD...yeah...not too optimistic there. But it is kind of important that the gesture is made. Because honestly what else can you do with a party which intends to candidate for the EU parliament with the intention to abolish it?
I mean, the EP had to deal with Nigel Farage for Years...

"You can reply to this Message!"There's an entire wing of the European Parliament whose stated purpose is the abolition of the Union. This isn't new.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.Yeah… "I don't know, nobody in Europe knows you…" One of the most cringeworthy things he ever did and right-winger still play the video and cheer about it.
I know, but adding this to everything else the Af D has done, putting the party under observation was overdue.
Hopefully there will be more investigations into their finances.

Yes, but trying to run on leaving the EU in one of the most pro-EU countries is tantamount to political suicide.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. Are we complaining 😝?
"You can reply to this Message!"Germany steps up monitoring of far-right AfD party
But the Bf V agency is not yet going as far as to use informants or phone taps in its nationwide watch on Af D.
Af D is the main opposition party. It entered the federal parliament for the first time in 2017, winning 94 seats in the 709-seat lower house (Bundestag).
Af D sees Islam as a threat to German values, urging tough immigration curbs.
The party is expected to do well in the European Parliament elections in May, like nationalists in many other EU countries.
The Bf V will impose a higher level of surveillance on the Af D youth organisation JA and on an Af D grouping called Flügel (Wing).
Flügel is led by Björn Höcke, a controversial figure who drew sharp criticism when he labelled the Berlin Holocaust monument a "memorial of shame".
The Bf V has previously put a watch on some socialist politicians in Die Linke, a party with roots in the old East German Communist Party.
The Bf V is empowered under the German constitution to act against perceived threats to the democratic order.
Some statements by Af D leaders have been condemned as encouraging neo-Nazi extremism. Af D activists took part in far-right rallies in the eastern city of Chemnitz last year, marred by clashes with police.
Yeah, it can sometimes be easy to miss considering their propaganda but the Right is often just as if not more good at circular firing squads then the Left.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnAbove all, they usually do what they accuse others off themselves. So...better take a really, really good look at what they are doing. Follow the money.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Someone really needs to pull a Mel Brooks on the AFD. Set up loudspeakers outside their offices blaring nothing but music by famous Jewish artists.
Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies. At this point im kinda wondering of springtime for hitler should be their leifmoit a this point.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Why stop there? Let's find out where they like to eat and pay the restaurant to serve only kosher while we paint Stars of David in their cars!
A few activists erected a small replica of the Holocaust memorial outside of the house of one of the Af D's most prominent (and controversial) politician.
This is the politician who infamously criticized the Holocaust memorial in Berlin.
Yeah, they did it pretty much directly after he made those remarks.
It would seem those activists have a wickedly smart sense of humour.
I hold the secrets of the machine.Oh, they have come up with some quite fun ways to set signs against the Af D. The most recent cola gaffe was engineered by them, too.
Cola gaffe?
That was towards the end of the last year...frankly, it was mostly an own goal for the Af D. The activists created a fake Anti-Af D Coca Cola add which went viral. The Af D made quite a fuss over that being not allowed advertising (since Coca Cola is a trademark) but Coca Cola just said: Yeah, but we happen to agree with it.
So the Af D went and did a Pepsi style pro-Af D advertising - and got immediately slammed by Pepsi for it which made very clear on which side of the debate it stood.
So the Af D went "all German" and picked Cola brands produced in Germany - including one which is very alternative and pro LGTB, which was hilarious in itself considering how the Af D feels about gays, but naturally every single German brand also basically told the Af D to f... off.
The whole thing was a thing for a week or so...by the end of it a lot of companies has started to advertise with pro diversity and anti racist messages. And the Af D looked REALLY ridiculous.
I hope you are right, but I suspect that not many voters will leave the Af D for them. It is not like e.g.
On a different note, while I appreciate the Guardian, I must say that I am shocked that an article like this was published.
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/jan/15/germans-take-to-the-streets-to-celebrate-rosa-luxemburg-karl-liebknecht-berlin
It is puzzling how anyone can still glorify ab enemy of the Weimar Republic like this (and villify someone like Noske -who while resorting to extreme measures - actually defended it.
It is laughable to suggest that someone who actively formented Civil War and participated in an uprising against the young democracy could have prevented Hitler.
