The first time I actually heard of this was when Jason (from Blogsuki) mentioned the manga.
Hmmmm. Never read the manga... Is it any good?
A) My path went like this: Accel World manga (that comes out bi-monthly ) -> finding out that it is a light novel with a translation in progress -> seeing that the author also has another series (AKA:SAO) -> that series has a manga as well.
B) Nether the Accel World manga or the SAO manga have gotten very far, so it is hard to say whether or not they are particularly "good." Though everyone who has posted in the Accel World topic (that I started) has really liked it and talked about how sad it is that it probably won't become popular because of how in-frequently it is published.
C) I actualy had started taking about SAO in the Accel World topic because I didn't think that we were quite ready to create a separate topic for SAO. Thoguh that would have changed with the anime.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Well, while I don't dislike Accel World, the story is... not as interesting as Sword Art Online to me. Just my personal taste... Maybe the anime can change my mind
Sword Art anime is soooo farrrr away..... No one translating Alicization yet...sob.
If any of you are interested, the Caliber Arc will be completed within this week.
I want to see Yui in the real world(in the anime)! Referencing the conclusion of Caliber Arc
Aww yeah I was hoping for an anime of this. Well, a TV anime, since those tend to come every week as opposed to the snailspeeds of other mediums being released.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.Hey, the books are being translated by a group of people in their free time. All things considered, it is going reasonably fast.
On the other hand, the Accel World book transalations are slow. But still not as slow as other translation projects on the site.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Accel World only has ONE translator active at the moment. SAO has at least three. Two of whom planning to finish a part this month. Let's hope for more translators to accel world with the anime!(that seems to be one of the reasons why HS Dx D picked up so many translators suddenly anyway)
Drama CD for Versus is out!(No idea since when though)
I had no idea you can only do one youtube video at a time...

Yeah. There is also a rule about having only a certain number of images (I think one) per post. It is so that none of the forum pages take too long to load. Imagine what would happen if those rules were not included...
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Oh... BTW, is there anyone reading Mother's rosario? (aside from me)
As in, alongside the translation(which started from the other end)
I'm reading the series but hasn't started MR yer. SAO, ALO and GGO I'm done with.
...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura Chifuyuwhat about SS?
You mean the side stories? I know I would consider them part of SAO and required reading before ALO.
If someone has read both of those, I think it is fairly safe to assume that they have read the SS as well.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Nope. I haven't read SS. Even in T Mn I, I never read the side stories.
...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura ChifuyuWell, they're pretty interesting... but most of them include spoilers... If you've already read GGO though, most of them should not be a problem.

How fun Aria in the Starless Night is... I wonder if it's going to be in the anime...
I'd agree with you if it wasn't for the perplexing speed people translate anime at(less to do with the actual translating and more to do with the video editing work and stuff) and even before subs are out it's a lot easier for me to understand Japanese in audio than by writings.
If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits. The thing is, with an anime you (generally) only have to translate the spoken language. Even in dialog heavy works, that might be about the equivalent of a short chapter in a book. Add in that you are translating descriptions of things that might not translate well—not just what people say—and the amount of work it takes to edit that many words...
Yeah, I have to say translating a book would be much harder than an anime episode. If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words would it take to make a whole season out of one or two books?
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!I'd have to agree with Belian. Also, the typesetting and editin stuff to a video could be done at the same time as the translation process.Dialogue heavy works usually take longer for the subs to appear, after all.
Also, some works require some research when you're translating, which takes up time.
Like Ed mentioned, listening is easier than reading, which is probably why translating a novel is harder than anime.
Hmm... They could actually fit SAO and ALO arc in 13 episodes. I guess GGO and the rest are for season 2.
...a little brother should belong to his older sister, right? - Orimura ChifuyuAh yes, I forgot about that...(it's the reason why I subconsciously avoid writing my book...I always think about how much easier it would be to convey things to a viewer of an anime or something instead of something text-crazy even with illustrations)
I still don't think that it's more difficult to translate the book though, since when I think of subbing something, the speed of their video editing is what amazes me over the translating itself.
Also I was thinking more of the releasing speed rather than the translating...not sure how I got derailed to translations enough to forget about that until now.
TV anime comes out every week or so...manga tends to come out monthly...as for L Ns...I don't even keep track of them. >_>

If people learned from their mistakes, there wouldn't be this thing called bad habits.I hear Yuki Kajiura's composing for this show. Looks like this is an automatic watch for me. When will this show start airing? Summer?
