Hmm, I was typing up a post when I realized something that could use a little confirmation, then a potential ask of edit depending on said confirmation.

@Atomic: Does the form Alearth is in now include her wings, horns, or tail?

No, it doesn't. Even her eye color has changed from red to icy blue.

Well, in that case I'm not sure if anyone else should've recognized her so quickly, since she transformed out of sight and all.

Though, I'll only force an edit if Atomic would prefer it.

I'd appreciate if they didn't recognize her. Although if they want to be portrayed as excessively trigger happy people who twitch at the smallest thing, be my guest...

Figuring who she is needs some careful examination and noticing that Alearth was away. So the discovery actually implies they have noticed her leaving first, which is highly improbable due to the fact they were busy with other stuff. The other option is that they suspect from every dark-haired teenager and they always recognize them as succubus.

I'll not force the edit, tho. If they wish to keep acting like pointing guns at sexy women and calling them succubus for little to no reason who I am to differ? It might be PTSD.

Oopsy. I assumed she still had the horns and stuff. I'll edit.

They're bounty hunters. They're supposed to be suspicious and jumpy and it wouldn't not at all surprise me to learn that some of them have been...approached by succubi before.

What form do Succubi take in this, anyway? Are they shapeshifters? Cloven hooved, batwinged, horn demons? Or do they just look like (hot) human females?

Depending on what they look like, I might re-edit Blight's response.

They're also supposed to be entertained on other business, and I don't recall any character having spider sense.

I think they're pretty much shapeshifters, but in their natural form they have wings, tail and minor demonic features.

Clark isn't actually doing anything at the moment. If anyone, Clark has the perfect excuses to go after her: he's utterly paranoid, has supernatural experience (and thus would be suspicious of any nice-looking women showing up) and isn't doing anything, thus giving him time to see her.

As far as I recall, he was talking with Malena about Ross, and therefore trying to pry out hidden truths beneath. I classify that as busy. People tend to space out in these cases. Then again, if you want to play it like that be my guest.

Although for consistence you should tag Malena in the bag too...

Still a weak argument for me, bro. "Just finished" is not "constantly monitoring the demon to notice the switch."

He doesn't need to notice the switch...I dunno about your logic, but from my point of view, some unidentified, very nice-looking female who's making moves on someone and comes out of nowhere pretty much screams succubus. Heck, they're even more likely to not realize it's her and then kill her because of it.

Except that the other nice looking girl, Malena, did fit the criteria too until Ross identified it. In story she appeared from nowhere, was not acquainted with the team, and had some familiarity with Ross. Does that also scream succubus? I'd say not. That you don't know her is not a enough reason, plus the moves she's pulling on Ross indicates a degree of familiarity. If anything, the little teasing would make her look less suspicious.

It means that they'd known each other for a while. Your character, on the other hand, appeared ex nihilo and so far Ross has shown no signs of knowing you. Nor would I expect him to show any signs thereof. So yeah. Plus, she didn't try to come onto anyone as soon as she appeared, whereas you did.

You know that, I know that, but your character doesn't know that. Also Ross hasn't made signs of knowing her because Firock hasn't posted yet. Without said positive or negative feedback, spotting that as succubus is hardly justified. Also, a playful attitude is a playful attitude, doesn't mean anything in its own.

Sounded like she was coming on to him from where I was sitting.

Incidentally, what happened to the collar?

The collar is still there. That's the way to spot it's Alearth. However the other arguments are rather weak when used (you'd be swinging your gun to a lot of people). Coming onto Ross doesn't grant a gun to the face nor labelling her as succubus when it was never mentioned INGAME. It takes more than that.

While a hot, unidentified female making a unannounced entrance and making moves on someone is mighty suspicious, at this point in the timeline it's incredibly unlikely that a succubus would actually try that in the middle of a barricaded community; especially in a room with a lot of armed individuals who likely know what succubi are. (Alearth not withstanding, of course.)

That might be pretty close to their modis operandi, but they're not complete idiots. Speaking of this though, this seems like it's a good time for me to step in with another "things your characters might already know" quick confirmation. Today's lesson, succubi/incubi.

  • Succubi and incubi are one of the lower-tier demon types. While just as dedicated to killing humans as any other demons, they also have a liking towards sexual activity, even with humans. While this liking does drive some of their actions, they are just as intelligent as humans.

  • Their primary ability is to shape-shift, through which they can take any form barring certain size limitations. (They can't go too small or too big from their default form.) Hence they almost always appear human or humanoid, and typically highly attractive since they find it hard to break that habit.
    • There is in fact a ritual based around forcing them to take their real form. (Clark is probably the one most likely to know it, actually.) It involves luring one into a ritual circle with just the right pattern set up and some special ingredients, like a lot of rituals.

  • They can also make illusions to an extent, which combined with the shape-shifting does make them one of the most tricky demon types to deal with. Although they can camouflage themselves, actually turning invisible seems very difficult even for adult succubi and incubi.

  • Like other demons they can order around unintelligent monsters, though not to the extent of higher demons. They do this through telepathy, which they can also use on Humans if they so choose.

  • And lastly, they have some kind of ability based around tempting humans, or at least making them hold still. Exactly how this ability works is unknown except to those that have experienced it, and most of them are dead for obvious reasons.

Once again, you guys may pick and choose what your characters would know, except for the last one which I'm tacking a GM approval requirement on for somewhat spoilery reasons. (If you want approval then get it, I'll PM the details to you.)

And with that done, I'm gonna try to get a post in the main thread soon. EDIT: Now that's done too. Ended up being shorter than I expected.

Yo all! I decided to join up.

Due notice that Alexander will not be showing his face around the group. Better get used to the mask [lol]

Oh! Since I just did one now, I should probably point you towards the other two "things your characters might already know" that I've already done, in case you missed them.

Lesson 1: local area

Lesson 2: zombies

I'll go link these to the first discussion post for future newcomers.

I have a question.

Could Alexander show up during the hunt for the werewolf, because I assume the group has to leave to chase after the thing. They find out they're hunting the same thing, so they join forces?

Seems easier to me for him to show up in between missions.

That depends on if they actually go after it. They don't exactly have many leads on it, besides where it was staying last.

Yeah, in between missions would probably be easier. I have some potential plans for things the next in-game day, which could provide a good way for him to get in.
