Moving to The Order of the Stick: Webcomic.Order Of The Stick

The page for The Order of the Stick is currently at Webcomic/OrderOfTheStick. It's been custom titled to have a "The" in it, but we proably shouldn't use custom titles for situations where we can just type it as normally (although custom titles will be needed anyway for the "of the" bit so eh).

This isn't really too big a deal, but discussion pages rarely get properly looked at in my experience, and hopefully this can be dealt with quickly here. I'm willing to move all the subpages and stuff.

The webcomic is called The Order of the Stick, not Order of the Stick, so the "The" is right where it should be. What is the problem with it?

The page is custom-titled to "The", but the page itself is at "Webcomic.Order Of The Stick" (no the). May as well make the links actually match the text and comic's name.

Oh, ok. I wasn't sure what you meant. What we need to do then is creating the page called Webcomic/ The Order Of The Stick, and then redirect the page without the "The", right?

Webcomic. The Order Of The Stick seems to be a redirect, and has amassed 187 wicks.

Generally, though, it's just odd to find a link, and then have the page have a different title. I don't know if custom titling text to add an extra word might mess up other sentences.

Definitely should reverse this, and have The Order of the Stick as the main page with Order Of The Stick as the redirect.

I agree, they should be reversed if the one with "The" already exists. Having the one without the "The" as a redirect isn't wrong, but the work has the "The", and the page should have it too.

Yes, let's do that.

All the subpages will have to be moved as well. That will be fun.

Can I go ahead and move it all then? I'd like to get this matter over as soon as possible, as I have another issue I want to make a TRS thread for.

I've started with the moving already. You can check the wiks, if you don't mind.

I already moved all the pages except the reviews (I'm not sure how do I move those) and the "crowning moment" ones (they had the name right). We will need some custom titles for some pages, like the different pages for the characters (so we can put the ":"). Also, do we make the former pages redirects for the new ones?

Hmm, do we really need this? It's just the one example; clear up the fact it talks to itself (and probably change it to an example of High Octane Nightmare Fuel), and it can just fit nicely on the YMMV page.

Yeah, do it. Being unmade and having nothing waiting for you seems very bad in the comic, but it can be up to debate in real world as one of the most common alternatives is hell for all eternity.

I don't think it would hurt anything to have the old subpages as redirects to the properly titled subpages.

[up][up][up][up]It's probably bad to just leave old pages hanging about in the database, so redirecting's probably the best option. Also, if they have inbounds people may still use those links to get there. I've fixed the reviews.

[up][up]I'll put it on the YMMV page. OotS isn't really a scary comic, and we can always easily remove it from a YMMV subpage if we decide it shouldn't be on there.

Come to think of it, the misnamed pages in the auto-indexing namespaces (Laconic/, Trivia/, Quotes/) should be deleted rather than made into redirects.

I don't really care if they are cut or made redirects. How do we make a custom title for the character pages? Do we cut the examples pages too?

You make custom titles for the character pages the same way you make a custom title for any other page. Except I already did it.

No particular reason to cut the examples pages.

I don't know how to do it for a normal page, in this case the page in particular was a character page, that's what I meant.

The examples pages (the old ones) are left as a redirect then. Alright, is anything left to do here then?

Well, for future reference then, in the Tools menu on the left of every wiki article, there's a link to the Title Customizer. There, you enter the wiki word (with the namespace, if it's not in Main/) that you want to have custom-displayed and click the submit button. This will pull up the page where you can enter how you want the title to be displayed. After you submit that, one of the moderators will review it to make sure it isn't completely erroneous, and if they approve it then that's how it will display.
