You can tell you're in a dream if you have too many fingers, or too few, or if your number of fingers changes. Same with teeth...

-Nemo had only just stepped downstairs when he suddenly saw light appear from inside the kitchen.-

-He tenses, readying himself to grab his daggers.-

-Quietly, and quickly, he rushes to the wall next to the door, and peeks his head around.-

-What's going on...?-

(Some very tall, labcoat-clad figure with strange hair is in the process of assembling something intricate... COMPLEX... A MODERN MARVEL KNOWN AS–)

SON...! Your TOAST is ready at last!

(He whirls around on his feet, stooping his giraffe-like frame down to present Nemo with a perfect slice of toast, topped with a little pat of butter... and then pauses.)

...Wait a second, you're not my son. Wherever did you come from, little boy...?

Kitchen (Nemo)

-...-

-...Nemo steps forward, and looks at the toast.-

-It... is food. Food...! He's had plenty of food here, but he still can't help but feel a little... excited when he manages to see something edible.-

-...Hmm?-

-Nemo looks back up at the man, and...-

"I came from the Isles... and I walked in from in there..."

-He looks back towards the Main Room.-

Kitchen

(The scientist puts a hand to his obscured chin for a moment, pondering...)

...Ah yes, the Isles! Ohohohoho~, I have no idea where that is.

(Gently pats Nemo on the shoulder with one hand, passing him the toast with the other.)

But I do know that you're obviously very lost! Ah, but not to worry, I happen to be a single father of two children roughly your age, as well as the most genius scientific mind of our age. We'll have this entire dilemma sorted out long before any Amber Alerts are issued, rest assured!

(Does a heroic and confident skyward POINT of his gloved hand.)

-Nemo takes the toast, and just... looks down at it.-

"...You're allowing me to have this...? What about your son...?"

-He meant for his son to have it... Should Nemo really take it?-

-Hmm? Well, he definitely doesn't know how to get back to the Isles, so he would consider himself lost.-

-Then the guy points up, and Nemo looks upward.-

"What's an Amber Alert...?"

-He has NEVER heard of it.-

Oh, no need to worry about that! I'll just make some more, there's plenty of perfectly toastable bread left over from our post-Peace Day bruncheon— which is a concept I invented, by the way! It's like a luncheon, except with brunch foods!

Ahhh, and Dib is probably still upstairs anyway. The poor child is constantly tormented by persistent delusions, such as the existence of aliens! So he's probably busy with that right now.

And Amber Alerts, that's just something we do in our modern age to inform the public of missing children. Certainly more convenient and reliable than the prior milk carton method! But in my care, you won't have to worry about any of that. I'll get you safely back with your family as soon as scientifically possible.
