Are the light novels translated?

Did Saito actually die at the end of the second season in the books? Well, obviously, there's no such thing as seasons, but something about that seemed really ... off.

Baka Tsuki has them translated up to the beginning of 4th season.

IIRC Saito in the novels was only near death when Tiffania found him.

They did.

Well that makes no sense. Why would he lose his familiar status if he never actually died?

But he did die. He just got lucky enough to be brought back to life.

Well, that's how I remember it, anyways.

I'm trying to find that scene to clarify but he did lose his status as Gandalfr when he died/almost died.

Edit: Yep, found it. Derf says he died.

Works.

Man, that is one badass swordguy. I got a kick in the anime when he possessed the fighter jet.

Derf's "death" scene hit me harder than the Pope's. That's how cool he is.

I kept expecting the pope to be a badguy, so the pope's death didn't hit me at all.

I mean, honestly-every single scene with the pope was basically him acting like a nice guy but secretly fucking Saito or others over. I was absolutely astounded when the series ended and he DIDN'T turn out to be serving some ancient evil overlord in the name of serving God.

I really liked the end of the series when Saito and Louise went home to earth to be all like "HEY MOM AND DAD I MARRIED A MAGICAL GIRL." I want a post-series OVA based on magical shenanigans on earth.

Question: how the fuck did Saito steal a fighter jet? The thing was fucking armed with missiles!

"There's no such thing as coincidence in this world!"

What an asspull.

Step 1: Grab a weapon.

Step 2: Use epic ninja powers that comes with being Gandalfr.

Step 3: Steal a jet.

Step 4: Save a loli.

Again, mods are pretty bitchy about the usage of the term "loli."

<Rie Kugimiya> That's discrimination!

[up] Yes, I don't even like Louise and I still want a post-series OVA.

Magical Gandalfr powers apparently beat the Japanese military.

I want to read a fan-fiction where Gandalfr uses a fucking nuke.

THAT'LL beat the ancient dragon >:/

Where was this said? Because I found this in Volume8 Ch5:

“For one moment, your heart stopped. So partner, the familiar's runes died as well. Magical spell-based objects can make assumptions too. Like flies escape the door that seems to be dead – the runes may have left as well.”
Tiffania also says in Volume8 Ch3 that her ring can't raise the dead. And apparently the spinoffs say you can't bring back a dead person's soul. So barring him somehow getting his soul back (like Wales did before dying again), he'd be soulless for the rest of the story if he had actually died for real.

Being clinically dead means your heart stops. That's actually been a plot point in Buffy too.

Being BRAIN dead is an entirely different story mind you.

Also, I love the way Delf says aibou.

On a side note, Japanese Voice Acting was a lot better than the English Dub. ^^

Sorry for the necro, but there are news. Apparently they are continuing the light novels.
