Wait, wait, wait.. Is this trope about all in-universe scribblings looking terrible, or looking better than other characters' reactions imply?
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.It can be the latter but not always. (that would by YMMV) it's all about the reaction from the Peanut Gallery. They just have to think it's bad.
There is a TRS up.
Sparkling and glittering! Jan-Ken-Pon!Could go for some of the panels in this one. (Left to right - and the quality is a bit shaky... don't get me started on the translation) Could have the drawing and a crop of the woman saying "a grade schooler could draw better than you" or the last panel (changing the bubble too "was my drawing so bad that it makes you cry?")
EDIT: Got a better one. Top left.

I don't think that the reaction from other characters is that necessary, reading the trope description. It boils down to "when a character creates a 'bad' piece of art, it's really bad."
That said, I think the current image needs more context.
Reaction Image RepositorySomething like this◊ where the artist is shown actually drawing the crappy art might be good.
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know. Not bad; I also like the two suggested panels from the first Eerie Queerie manga, although dude in the cat outfit is freaky. There's also this◊ from the Scott Pilgrim film, and the first shot of Giles' presentation at 2:25 from this video of "Hush" from Buffy.
Clock is set. I'm still partial to the ones I mentioned before.
I think the Scott Pilgrim one is better than the Buffy one. There are probably tons of images we can get; does anyone have any other suggestions?
And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know. The clock's up. I made an Image Links page and will tag the thread to go there. Locking up.
So the trope is about in-universe bad artists. The pic just shows bad art.
What about using two shots from the Yuru Yuri sequence of this trope?

Thinking 2 and 5.
