Enforced Fan Rules, maybe?
This about the person, not the rules.
Also, I really do think this needs a rename. The current name can and has been misused for any kind of generic party pooper when it's not being misused for complaining about compettive playstles you don't like.
We need a name that makes it clear that isn't just about someone who plays "No Items! Fox Only! Final Destination!", it's about someone who looks down upon anyone who dosen't. The current name dosen't capture that at all neither does Fun Is For Noobs.

Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianWhat name do you suggest, then? Just rephrasing the problem won't solve it. =/
Actually, the current name is a line-of-dialog name; aren't those grounds for automatic renaming?
I'm having trouble seeing the argument against renaming here, other than "I like XKCD".
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Luke, I Am Your Father suggests otherwise(and anyway I'm pretty sure there's no rampant potholing of the phrase in unrelated contexts). That said, I see no reason to keep the name. "No Items Fox Only Final Destination" at least sounds like somebody shouting out rules.

Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I still support something more general like Self Appointed Serious Business Enforcer.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)I still support axing the page entirely. It's just inherently bad, and a rename isn't going to fix that.
Belief or disbelief rests with you. That's not really an option with nearly 40k inbounds.
I dunno, I think the current name is fine. I mean, it describes the trope pretty clearly, I don't see anything confusing about it, and we don't have any pattern of misuse. So it seems to me like it ain't broke.
Rhymes with "Protracted."That's a pretty silly argument. If we don't want line-of-dialog titles, then obviously that is a relevant argument in rename debates.
And yes, it is clearly a line-of-dialog title, just look at the trope namer: it is literally somebody saying "stop having fun, guys!"
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! This thread has been running too long. There's been proof of misuse on the first page, as well as proof that this is not an established term outside of Tvtropes, and both of that should have been mentioned in the crowner.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I looked at the wick check on the first page and it counted any non-videogame example as misuse. But we've established that it's not actually videogame-specific, so that's no longer correct.
And the title, as it is currently punctuated, is not dialogue.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Well, "Stop having fun, (you) guys" would probably count as dialogue, and "Stop Having Fun" Guys just makes no sense, IMO.

SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)It doesn't seem there was a consensus, or indeed a lot of input, on adding those weird quotes in the trope title.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! They're guys who say "Stop Having Fun".
Rhymes with "Protracted."It's not inherent in the sentence. For all I know it could be about people with "Stop Having Fun" tattooed on their foreheads, or they're the ones "Stop Having Fun" is being said to, or it could be some kind of name or Title that doesn't have to do with anything. "Guys Who Say Stop Having Fun" grammatically means something specific. "'Stop Having Fun' Guys" doesn't really mean anything definitive. It's really just an awkward, and in my personal opinion, stupid name. Also, it still has dialogue in it.
SPATULA, Supporters of Page Altering To Urgently Lead to Amelioration (supports not going through TRS for tweaks and minor improvements.)It also doesn't say why they say "stop having fun". Is this the same as a "get off my lawn" guy? If not, why not?
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!@SNDL I'm sorry I was just trying to make an argument for renaming it.
I think Serious Business Enforcer is the best suggested name so far.
Whether or not it is counts as a dialouge-like title is irrelevant because it is bad name regardless.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianThat sounds like the best to me as well, figure Serious Business should be in their somewhere.
Support Gravitaz on Kickstarter!I don't think the current name is unclear. It's a pretty spot-on description of the trope.
The main complaint against it back at the start of the thread was that it was being misused to refer to non-videogame examples. But based on the discussion we've had so far, it looks like it's not a videogame-specific trope in the first place. So if we broaden the description like Worldmaker suggested back in this post, we should be able to solve this issue without renaming.
Renaming is not a magic solution, after all. Even if a trope is broken, that doesn't mean it needs a new name. In this case, there doesn't seem to be a problem that would be fixed by renaming—tweaking the description would give us a simpler and more effective answer.

Rhymes with "Protracted."I don't think the name describes the trope clearly. The Scrub also forces people to stop having fun; does that make him a stop having fun guy?
edited 24th Nov '11 2:13:46 AM by GildedATM
The Scrub doesn't force people to stop having fun, he forces people to play the way he wants them to. He's not interested in making people take things seriously, he's interested in making people play the way he wants them to/thinks is fair. So technically "Stop Having Fun" Guys player is also The Scrub, but not necessarily the other way around.

Vote up for yes, down for no.
I think Fun Is For Noobs is actually almost worse than "Stop Having Fun" Guys, in terms of clarity and stopping misuse.
