Okay, this is getting obnoxious. Silent Hill fans are getting to be worse than Half-Life fans were.

It's time to move on, people. Random members of Team Silent breathing is not a clue that another Silent Hill game is in development.

If you expect a new Silent Hill game to be announced and get angry when it inevitably isn't, you have nobody to blame but yourself. Silent Hill is over.

The article title is very weird about it, but...

• Bloober Team (the guys behind Layers of Fear and The Medium) have been teasing that their next big project is "an existing horror IP from a very famous gaming publisher" with some already thinking it's Silent Hill.
• But then, Konami has already outsourced a Silent Hill project to a prominent Japanese developer, with a reveal coming this summer.

Make of this what you will, but until we get more details, I'm not listening to anything to do with "pachinko-crazy" Konami...

There is nothing in their statement that hints towards their next project being Silent Hill. Literally all they said is "another horror IP" and "a very famous gaming publisher", which could mean a hundred different things. They don't even technically say it's a pre-existing horror IP, it could be brand-new and they're just getting funding from this "very famous gaming publisher".

Also, calling Konami "very famous" in this day and age is... well, you know.

Really, forgive me if this sounds condescending, but this constant...yearning can't be healthy.

Just let it go. Wait for an actual announcement. These bread crumbs don't have as much meaning as you're trying to divine, just like ways to reverse the Spiderman deal or "Black Panther 2 has seven letters in it's title, that means Doctor Doom will be in it".

Has anyone else seen this Abandoned nonsense insanity?

Basically, people keep thinking that this game that got announced ages ago, called Abandoned, is secretly Silent Hill comparative to how MSGV was announced as "The Phantom Pain" by Moby Dick Studio.

Might not actually be Silent Hill related but boy is it interesting to watch everyone in fandom Hiatus brain and see everyone digging into whatever.

Personally I just feel bad for the developers of Abandoned.

When the game comes out and it turns out not to be a Silent Hill game people are going to get mad, and I'll bet the developers are going to take most of the flack despite doing nothing wrong.

Oh man, do not even get me started on that.

First, I was on Team "Maybe", because the number of coincidences was extremely high, plus there's virtually nothing about Blue Box Game Studios apart from some meh games like a Fatal Frame rip-off that ended up getting finished by someone else and the weird treatment being given to BBGS by Sony. BBGS boasted having a PS5 app explicitly for Abandoned trailers being shown in real-time and Sony has never *ever* done this with any of their first-party guys, so why roll out the red carpet for an indie team?

But after Hasan Karahman tweeted a video saying he was an actual person with zero ties to Hideo Kojima or Silent Hill, I ended up playing turncoat and went with Team "Abandoned is its own thing" because Hasan seriously sounded distraught. (Even if there was still the weird anomaly of how they got NUARE, who help on AAA games, to help out.)

But you would not believe how much BS Twitter fed itself. Stuff like "Hasan is an actor!" to "Hasan is a CGI guy made from Unreal Engine!" (That last one sounds like an exaggeration, but I promise there actually are people who threw it around unironically.) I actually went so far as to tweet that Abandoned was its own thing more than once, but I doubt anyone's hearing.

I was ready to be vindicated when the trailer app was set to come last Friday, but on that day, Hasan tweeted that it got moved to this August.

At this point, I'm Team "Just reveal the game so we can get on with our lives". Yes, I don't care whether or not it's actually Silent Hill anymore because August is way too long a wait and I've already gotten sick of the coincidences and the dot-connecting-even-though-there-are-no-dots-to-connect. (And it doesn't help that that only stirred the pot for the Team "Abandoned is Silent Hill" crowd because August happens to be the month P.T. came out.)

EDIT 1: Yes, it bites that this is happening to the devs. They probably just wanted people to pay attention to their new game, only to get the wrong kind…

EDIT 2: Actually watched the video by Night Mind and while I'm still convinced that these guys aren't affiliated with Kojima or Konami…I greatly underestimated how in the dark we are about Blue Box. And those alpha builds, like WTF? Who What the heck are these people? Are there even people? Because the only name we have on them is Hasan. No one else.

…What is even happening anymore?

I don't see why anyone can't make a Expy of Silent Hill. Its not like it's copyright concepts of Haunted Town.

The thing is that even if this game is a homage to Silent Hill, the fact that it's not actually Silent Hill is going to go over like a lead balloon, simply because people have convinced themselves that it is.

Tbh, I'm kinda surprised no one's really done that either. It's an uncopyright-able concept (Spooky Town with Psychological Horor! How original!) but malleable enough for a lengthy stand-alone installment franchise that you can make your own.

Especially since it feels like the franchise (and the fandom to a degree) can't seem to agree about if the franchise is about "Spoopy Cult Shenanigans" or "Psychological Undressing of Lead Character Adventure", so... why not just take that second concept to a new franchise?

Yet, I can't really think of many games that do that? Like, stand alone games do but I can think of very few genuine franchises that have done that? Or maybe there are franchises that have but I considered them bad and forgot about it? Idk.

I guess that's kinda part of the frustrating thing about Silent Hills being canned at all... I feel like it might be pretty easy to file the serial numbers off of it. Especially since I think the cult storyline is legit the weakest and dumbest part of the franchise.

Not everyone is keen to copy an existing idea,copying the concept of a "spoopy town with a dark secret" might be easy but everyone will immediately notice,an original idea resonates well with people.

Konami and Bloober Team officially announce a partnership.

The announcement says it's about the production of "games from existing and new IPs," so it doesn't automatically mean "new Silent Hill", but then how many horror IPs does Konami have besides Silent Hill and maybe Castlevania?
