I came here thinking there would be a preview chart of several confirmed series for the winter season, just like the other season threads.

• Another season of Hyouge Mono, that is also not going to get subbed on time

It certainly is when it fails to be either creative or entertaining.

Oh come on.... I'd rather have something fun than something seriously made with drugs like Steins;Gate. It's predecessor is a lot tons better... also made with drugs.

No. Chaos Head is godawful. I hate hate hate it. Not because it's generic harem crap, but because it's just festering bile.

Anyway, entertaining stories don't have to be angsty. But generic harems aren't entertaining because they're generic and thus have little novelty and often little in the way of fresh humor.

Ok, give me a combo of tropes that haven't been used in anime. Since we've already done everything then it follows that everything they do is generic now.

The funny thing about novelty is if everything is special, then nothing is. I can stomach 4-5 run of the mill shows if it means that one gem shines all the brighter for it.

True that, true believers. I think that one special show is enough for one season.

^^^ Do you have any idea what I'm even talking about? Avoiding being labeled a generic harem... make that a generic story isn't about going out of your way to say something no one has ever said before or picking and choosing from a list of arbitrary storytelling devices and constructing a story around them. It's about making a plot that is not interchangeable with the plot of another story. It's about characters who are engaging and unique without going down a checklist and striking off traits and personality. It's about a setting that stands apart from other settings, or at least doesn't blatantly copy them in the hopes of cashing in on their success.

^^ Not every show has to be amazing, I'll admit. But saying there's nothing wrong with generic shows just strikes me as absurd. If you're going to tell a story, then tell a story.
