The title implies that the situation is: Character A from Universe A falls in love with Character B from Universe B (substitute "planet" or "time period" as needed) and they have to choose whether to be together in Universe A or Universe B.

Yet there are tons of examples of one Character being irrevokably transported to another universe and falling in love there, with no implication that s/he can or wants to return home.

A rename seems better than a split in this case.

mudshark: I don't expect Nate to make sense, really.

That sounds more like a different trope altogether. This trope is about the fact that they have to choose one or the other, or break up.

So we need to clean up bad examples? Or create a supertrope page for "interdimensional romance"?

The Quiet One. No OTT. No unfunny. No squick. No crusades. Harmless and clean.

Clean up the bad examples, (save them on the discussion page, so that they're available for the new trope) and see whether Interdimensional Romance is different enough from the other Romance-with-obstacles tropes we've already got to get its own page.
