Bangkok, February 21st, 2011.

Even though it was winter (or whatever passed for winter in Bangkok), it was still a hot and humid night, above 25 degrees C. Even though their Thai stay was originally planned as a refueling stop, the Fortuna's crew had demanded some Thai shore leave. It had been granted. The whole officer cadre was reunited at the Paradysso: an exclusive (but still raunchy) nightclub in the outskirts. It was Mishima Akane's very first pay as Chief: Sound RVI tradition mandated that the doctor paid for the night out.

The best part of the nightclub was the garden: Immensely loud speakers blasted hard, mostly German industrial metal. Some people danced, others did drugs, some took a dip in the jacuzzis or the swimming pool. The crew was having some drinks while slacking over some chaises: Hans and Jade were having a long and heated argument on the merits of mojito versus tequila sunrise.

"I don't get it, Commander: Everyone gets crazy about Thai leave. Why? Clubbing and whoring is cheaper than back at Cheng. But we totally, absolutely had to go somewhere costing fucking fifteen American bucks for a drink...", Akane protested. "And escorts cost two hundred bucks", she continued her rant.

"You make 150 grand a year, Akane: Tax-free, I might add. What's a couple grand to you?", Igor shrugged. And the CMO groaned.

Paradysso was remarkably progressive for Thai standards: It provided escorts for every sex and sexual orientation, and it had a fairly liberal policy when it came to public drug use. Unfortunately, most of the place's patrons were US and Australian Navy officers, with some gangsters and mercs thrown in for the mix.

Three American-accented guys looked at the gang with suspicion, perhaps recognizing them as wanted criminals: One of the guys wore an MP armband.

"Not gut.", Miller muttered.

Rebecca Eastwood groaned as she looked over the soldiers. "I'm pretty sure one of those guys know me. Just don't start shit, and we won't have a problem."

Sipping her club soda, Rebecca lamented her situation. She'd much rather be deployed than on leave. Add in the fact that she was the most vice-free employee of RVI (Barring certain, exceptions, of course), and she was already compiling a list of warzones she'd rather be.

Still, she stood ready to support her fellows at the slightest hint of trouble.

"Heh, if there's something I like about you Miller, is the fact you bring me to titty paradises all over." Grandpa was unusually talkative for his self today. And unusually lively, judging how the elderly-home aged man was doing tribal dances, without a shirt, drinking booze like water, and copping some feels here and there, with a wolfish grin in his face.

"And on top of that miss medical smother is payin'. This warrants more party." He added, and then frowned.

"You know, I could toss the icepick over there and make it look like an accident. Frikkin' yanks, brownosing all over."

"This isn't like some of the clubs I've seen in Tokyo..."

Shinji Koizumi, ex-Public Security Intelligence Agency inspector and now RVI hostage negotiator (and part time goods negotiator), intelligence specialist and spy, eyed Akane and the other patrons from a distance. He was content to just lean on the wall and see what was going on, just wearing a white shirt, jeans and black Oakley military-style boots.

"Hmm..." Shinji wondered if someone was looking at him or at his "comrades".

"Masaka..." The ex-PSIA inspector sighed. "I think I'd rather drink sake that my businessman uncle almost prodded me to drink once."

"I think this place is even worse than Dublin..."

Michael "Mike" Chen, Chinese-Irish RVI contractor (or mercenary, whichever you prefer) and ex-Army Ranger Wing commando, strolled around the outskirts of the dancing floor as he was not to dance and instead, just relax and try not to remember the main reason/s why he chose to work in Southeast Asia when he heard rumors that some ex-ARW commandos were offered contracts in the Americas, Europe and Africa where the big buck can be made.

Just dressed in a gray polo shirt, brown trouser and the same Oakley-like boots Shinji wore, Mike hoped that he would blend in with the crowds and just have a good time and relax and be with Rebecca and company.

Miller chuckled... "Danke schön!", he told Gramps, with a large smirk on his face. "Try not to break the bank, anyway.", he said.

Akane had not even noticed the Americans. She looked at Shinji, amused: "Tokyo's far too tame, Shinji-san."

Looking at the American military police, Jade nervously grasped the Tokarev she'd hidden inside her waistband. If caught, it'd be a long time at Portsmouth for her... She wasn't going to risk it. Still, she didn't open fire yet.

Igor was quite calm, quietly finishing his vodka lemonade. He winked at Becky, saying everything's all right.

The American MP and his companion slowly walked up to them. Both of them were utterly drunk. "Holy shit, that's an actual Order of Lenin medal!", the MP said. "Never thought I'd get so see'em on a dude, like, in person'n'all.", he said, taking a highly inconvenient photo of the whole gang with his cell phone. "Can I take a picture?", he asked, far too late.

"I don't know if Gramps is doing the right thing there..."

Mike said, standing near Rebecca as he observed his antics.

"To be honest, I'd rather sing the Amhrán na bhFiann."

"Indeed." Shinji told Akane and nodded. "Things have changed back in my days."

"Still, eyes on those Americans, alright?"

Igor looked at the Yanks with discomfort: Nervously, he repeatedly opened and closed his zippo.

"Guess you won't un-take it.", he grumbled, shrugging.

Thankfully, Du Hast started sounding: A song both Navy men apparently knew and liked: Both drunken sailors pretty much immediately left for the dance floor... Still, the Navy guy that had went inside could be alerting his superiors... Or finding back-up.

"No problem, 'becca."

Mike told her. "If worse comes to worse, I'll give them a Fáilte from good old Dublin with some Chinatown in the mix."

"What now?" Mike then spoke to Shinji as he approached him and Rebecca.

"Give a few more minutes." Shinji advised Mike. "We don't know if the man's here to find some AWOL Americans or Australians.

"Your call, tovarischi: Should we stay or should we go?, the Commander asked. He hated stopping a party, but things could get ugly real quick: any course of action that averted a coke-crazed and twitchy Miller shooting people with his PDW looked appealing by comparison.

"..." Gramps stood still for a while, as he stepped down, trying to get a semblance of a working mind. Even in his inebriated state, he could know that they had taken a picture of Igor, and he begun to dance once more.

He stumbled a bit, tailed by two asian beauties that crowded the place, and staggered just enough to shower the camera with his beverage...accidentally. Or maybe not.

"Sorry, young one! I must be gettin' senile with all those boobies and booze!"

The MP pushed Gramps away: "DAMMIT! Look where you go, motherfucker!", he yelled at the Brit. "I had awesome pics on that cam!"

Meanwhile, Igor looked at the old merc, giving him a thumbs up.

"...Oh, well..." Gramps tilted his head. "Surely there's some kind of compensation that you might want, young one? Because you know... you ain't hitting an old man, ain't you?"

He then rushed forward one of the girls. "This one can do some killer things with table tennis balls, and other sort of things, and I've paid for several hours, so why don't you keep her? It's the least a subdit of Her Majesty can do for an ally,hm?" He said.

Shinji eyed the MP officer carefully.

"I have a bad feeling about this." The Japanese muttered when he Gramps shoved to the side.

"Iontach..."

The mention of the Thai escort's extraordinary vagina appeased the sailor all right: They left for somewhere more private.

'Me so horny... Me love you long time...', the bar girl was saying. She looked happy: After all, she'd much prefer screwing the young American than the old Brit.

"If they're looking for deserters, we're fucked. I am AWOL.", Jade said. "So let's get the Hell outta Dodge".

"We've gotta go: Any sort of firefight here would be a bloodbath.", Akane agreed. "You know cutting the night short won't get you out of paying for a full one, don't you?, Miller asked. Akane groaned again.

Igor nodded.

"But we don't know if they're hunting for the AWOL American slash Australian soldiers around here..."

Mike tried to reason with the others.

"Mike-san." Shinji told the ex-ARW commando. "Are you really paying attention to what's happening or did you drink something we should know about?"

Jade shrugged: "True. We don't know... And I don't wanna know.", she said. "Desertion. Two counts of membership in a criminal organization. Conspiracy to distribute cocaine... If they get me, I ain't gettin' outta military prison, like, ever."

She made a pause, blocking one of her nostrils with her thumb so she could sniff the remaining cocaine in her nose upwards. "No matter how many I've gotta kill, they ain't takin' my freedom away. Ever."

Quite ominously, Hans chuckled once and cocked his SMG. He was much braver when he was high and drunk. "If things go FUBAR, I call dibs on the cop."

The missing American had returned with two Navy SEA Ls and three Thai cops: Things were getting uglier by the moment.

"Feh, SEALS. Why don'tcha go to play with your guns and boats to Miami, you two-dollar ripoffs of British commandos!" Grandpa beckoned as he jumped before his partners.

The Navy officer smirked slightly.

"Fuckin' senile limey.", he said. "We ain't here to fight old farts... So stand out of my way. We're here to arrest Lieutenant Jade Wong: We've got a valid warrant. Will you comply?"

Igor was forcefully holding Jade's hand to prevent an immediate shootout. "We're not complying.", he whispered to her. "But this is an awful place for a shootout."

The officer chuckled, and handed out the warrant. The list of charges was surprisingly long: Conspiracy. Drug trafficking. Insider trading. Espionage. Treason. Desertion. Conspiracy. Membership in criminal organizations. Conspiracy to murder... It went on, and on, and on, almost filling the whole page.

"That's the woman you're protecting. Surprising, huh?", he asked with a devilish grin.

Jade grew even more pale. "Let me shoot them.", she whispered at the Commander.

"Er, woah, Jade, you've done all this?" Grandpa said, obviously faking the tone of voice."This is ...uh...infuriating! Yeah, It makes me ...sick." He said, as he gagged, and finally managed to barf in said order.

Haha take that, fuckers. He thought inwardly.

"Uh...sorry 'bout that. Guess you can get a new one?"
