Welcome to the main discussion thread for the Marvel Cinematic Universe! I'm editing this OP and pinning it to establish some basic guidelines. All of the Media Forum rules still apply.
- This thread is for talking about the live-action films, TV shows, animated works, and related content that use the Marvel brand, currently owned by Disney.
- While mild digressions are okay, discussion of the comic books should go in this thread. Extended digressions may be thumped as off-topic.
- Spoilers for new releases should not be discussed for at least two weeks. Rather, each title should have a dedicated thread where that sort of conversation is held. We can mention new releases in a general sense, but please be courteous to people who don't want to be spoiled.

It dosent help that moment as at the start and drax look pretty silly stabbing the monster, specially when he got up of it and it was dead.
Drax have the problem of many post revenge chararter: and then what?.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Indeed.
Instead he's more of the team Big Guy/Brute.
A shame really, he's a bit too archetypal.
Well he said he wanted to go after Thanos via proxy but he just doesn't piss him off as much as Ronan did.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."T He team is archetipical, is just that Drax dosent get anything to do.
And thanos cant even get much of a fuck about Drax to care, funny is that he try the same stuff as ronan in the same place.
Also, I keep mantain that Ego is feel more of a dick than Thannos.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"If it helps I didn't watch Guardians 1 either. Not all of it anyway. Just Quill saving the universe thanks to Ooh Child by the Stairsteps.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The Guardians movies are easily among the best in the whole MCU and you should watch them post haste.
Self-serious autistic metalhead who goes by any pronouns. (avvie template source)Eh, James Gunn lost his grip on Drax in Got G 2 already.
Funny thing is, I never got while people said Peter is a man child, I mean sure he is inmature and everything but people exagarate a lot of it, he is a very resorfull men and good strategist which is beyond other manchild chararter does.
In fact is strategy BEAT THANNOS, so one can give him some respect.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"His strategy beat Thanos because Thanos was playing way too lightly.
I mean you tell me it's among the best of the MCU sure. But people also told me that Iron Man 3 was a great film that subverted people's expectations. Coincidentally I am no longer friends with those people.
So, I'll get to it when I have nothing else to watch on Netflix, I guess.
He might have had a winning strategy, but he also screwed up the entire plan.

I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!The MCU has so many movies, you will find fans for nearly every single one of them. There are people with quite diverse tastes in the fandom. And if some of them love Ironman 3, all power to them. I still will worship the Captain America trilogy.
What is noticeable is that Marvel is really cagey regarding Captain Marvel. Not quite as much as they are regarding Endgame, but I wonder if this is part of a new marketing strategy (in: We stop revealing everything in the trailers because the audience keeps complaining about it), or if there is a big twist they want to hide.
The only obvious twist I can think of is the Kree being revealed to be evil, but that feels more like an end-of-first-act twist, not really a huge twist that completely changes the film. Then again, they have avoided outright saying that twist in the trailers, so maybe they actually think it's a lot bigger and less obvious than it is.
Then again, again, everyone thought the Homecoming trailers completely spoiled the movie when they showed Peter in his old Spidey suit, when in the film itself, that twist is small potatoes compared to the "Vulture is the love interest's father" twist.

I think they're being cagey because they don't want to have too much focus all over the place when what they really want is for people to be hype specifically for Infinity War.
For the same reason, we're getting zilch but synopses and details about Far From Home. The other two are getting downplayed, if slightly in Captain Marvel's case. Spidey has been outright thrown under the bus thus far.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Well, casual fans who haven't seen Agents of Shield and don't realize that Ronan is a Kree might not realize that the Kree are evil, but I think most people know, which kind of is the hook of the trailer because Captain Marvel is clearly not seeing the whole picture and you kind of want to know how she will react when she realizes the truth.
Speaking of Ao S, I wonder if their decisions to have a Kree invasion parallel to Infinity War is somehow related to Captain Marvel.
Well, based on the Fandango pre-sales, Captain Marvel gets a lot of attention.

I love the Dramatic Irony there. If you've seen Guardians of the Galaxy, then you know the Kree are an entire empire of assholes, but poor Carol thinks she's Luke Skywalker.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. What never made sense to me was the joke of "The monster's skin is just as thick from the inside as the outside and Drax looks like a stupid asshole for stabbing it from the inside-out."
Like, yeah. No one has ever done that bit to try and stab the monster from the inside-out. You let yourself get eaten or whatever so you can stab the soft, squishy organs.
My various fanfics.I am mostly into the notion of earth being the location for a war by proxy. There are so much you could mine there thematically.
Funny thing IM in the mind Iron man 3 is a great movie, not because of the villian but because it the omvie who does challange Iron man the most, it does really bring the face he something more than the suit.
I dont know I kinda like better than "Iron man want good but does evil" over and over again.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Oh, I liked the intended themes of IM 3...hell, Marvel liked the theme so much, how often had we know the hero having to succeed without his favourite crutch? It's the execution which bothers me.
Indeed.
There's a lot to like in Iron Man 3 (Tony is at his absolute best, proving that it's really not the suit that makes him a hero), but...
...well, there's a lot to dislike about Iron Man 3, and it outweighs what little good there is.
One Strip! One Strip!.....Does it?.
I mean, does it? the villian suck but villains in Marvel always kind of suck, ether than or get karma Houdini(Loki, Odin....Valkyre).
Killian is most insignificant part of the movie, specially marvel movie who focus more in the hero anyway.
I really love iron man 3 tony, seen AOU and CW and compare with that is heartbreaking.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"I’m getting annoyed by the whole “hero loses access to their equipment so they can prove their fine without it”.
Like I don’t want to watch an Iron Man movie where Tony is out of his suit for most of it unless the story is like really, really, REALLY compelling inwhich 3 isn’t much.
The suit is part of the package, it’s what makes him unique. I don’t need an entire movie to show he doesn’t need it or he’s more than just it.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."For one "this thing which sucks also sucks elsewhere" is an awful argument. And two, you assume that this is what we consider a problem. But when I talk about execution it is a mixture of different things. Just a few examples:
I hate the choice of music. I know it sounds nitpicky, but if Tony listens to Christmas songs, it should be Heavy metal versions of them.
Speaking of Christmas, why is the movie set around Christmas anyway? I am not against the notion, but if you do that, there should be some sort of point or reason why.
The whole "I have just created monsters" line. Really? By getting rid of a stalker who was waaaaay over the line and having a one-night stand with a woman who was well-aware that this would only be a one-night stand?
So, the whole "giving out the address" thing...for one, I don't get why Killian even decides to attack, it doesn't fit into his plan at all (and the plan is otherwise pretty smart, btw), but two, why is Pepper still in the house?
And speaking of Pepper, I HATE everything they do with Pepper in that movie. I hate the constant bickering and the lack of trust between her and Tony, I hate the whole "wearing the suit for 5 seconds" thing, I hate the random creeping Killian does on her (and how the hell does he just happen to know Pepper, too?), I hate that they seem to think that Pepper needs to be some sort of action girl instead of allowing her to be the competent CEO she is and help Tony that way.

All told I'm glad I didn't have to pay money to see IM 3. It's a reasonably watchable and enjoyable but ultimately pretty subpar movie for me.

Guardians 2 does a lot right but its humor is just so bad that I can't watch beyond the last third of it.
This song needs more love.
