[up][up] You have a right, it's just your choices are impractical. The video game medium is much different than the film medium. It would be too hard to adjust from one to the other (most of the video game composers that also do film had already started in other mediums by the time they did video games, Mark Mothersbaugh was in Devo for example).

Also, there's the case that most people don't really pay attention to video game music. For this film, you are likely to expect parodies of the stereotype of video game music (which makes sense due to the characters' 8-bit nature). You won't expect an epic, sweeping piece from a first-person shooter.

[up]I understand that the way that music is composed for film and video games are done differently. Its just that I think if you got a film that focuses on video games, you should have somebody from the video game industry to do the composing.

I just hope Thomas takes some advice from a few video game composers or at least listens to some video game song tracks to get a good idea on how its done. I cant comment about Wall-e's score since I have no desire interest in seeing it. I'm just imagining the score of Wreck it Ralph draws inspiration from video games. Even sounding a bit similar to some songs that I know that are from video games.

I just looked up Martin O'Donnell's biography. He started out in film and television. And the producer for the Halo 2 soundtrack, Nile Rodgers, is also a film composer (scoring films such as Coming To America and Beverly Hills Cop III).

It looks like a neat concept, and the story seems quite cool, but I'm a bit worried that the people behind that may not be all that familiar with games and thus might end up getting a lot of stuff wrong. For example, that character who's supposed to be a "glitch", how on earth is she supposed to work? I doubt the creators have ever heard of phenomena like Missingno or Ermac.

Disney could have scored David Wise...But they didnt. Missed Moment of Awesome there for me. But in all seriousness, as a gamer. You think they'd get a game composer for it.

Who cares. The Newmans kick ass.

Yep, now it's just a matter of whether they "did the research" as Dreamer questioned.

[up][up]This.

I really could care less that they didn't choose a small name video game composer. Tron Legacy 's soundtrack was done by Daft Punk who may I remind you are not video game artists, and yet the music still kicked ass.

Besides, I'm a strong believer that the film's composer should not be chosen solely on their personal experience but on their artistry and thematic style they create. Thomas Newman seems like a perfect choice for this film, I can definitely see the film benefitting from his tonality of innocence and curiosity.

You never know. We could see a reference to "Lostnumeral" or something in the background.

It looks like Newman may not be doing the film after all, as he is replacing David Arnold on Skyfall (due to Arnold being busy with the Olympics).

I'm now expecting either Michael Giacchino (whose schedule is empty between John Carter and Star Trek 2) or Christopher Lennertz (who like Giacchino, has done a fair share of video games as well as family films) to replace him.

Edit: Alright, so there's images from the film available online, but unfortunately I'm not allowed to link to them. They should be pretty easy to find if you google it though.

[down]Edit 2: To answer Kyun's question, this is a new account, so I'm not allowed to post links, nor am I allowed to post without a ten minute or so wait in between posts.

Why are you not allowed to link them?

K I took a quick Googlesearch. A few of new images appeared online. One of them is a concept painting for the racing game in the candy level. Another appears to be a parody of HALO, or a very high-tech shoot em arcade game. And we have a close-up of Ralph's face for the first time... he very much resembles the Heat-meiser.

Also if you type in the movie's title in Google Image search, you get a shot of a college-age Sully and Mike. .... I still don't like this idea.

Alright, since this account is old enough now, pictures can be found here: http://www.warpzoned.com/?p=18762

I notice that asides from the bricks and apartment building, the picture of Ralph's world seems to be in some sort of void.

Perchance there isn't a lot to Ralph's world except for the building and his own home.

DV Dizzy's got images of a D23 article on the film.

  • 8-Bit opening confirmed
  • Bowser, Zangief and what appears to be Robotnik all confirmed for Ralph's therapy group.

ROBOTNIK.

THIS WILL ROCK.

The article is obviously written without a subjective viewpoint. I wonder how old the writer is.

Robotnik has re-formulated his egg diet and has lost 200 pounds. Watch it happen.

And Zangief will be in for body slamming a kid named Richard.

How were they able to get Robotnik? Does Disney have any previous affiliation with Sega?

[up] I do know for a fact that Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog used to play on Toon Disney.

I think I've seen a picture of a costumed Sonic character at a Disney park, but I'm unable to find it.

[up][up] Disney always liked featuring Sega and especially Sonic at Epcot's Innoventions. Also, those old Genesis games

[up][up] Come to think of it, the one and only time I've entered Disneyland's Innoventions, they had Sonic 2006 set up.

Also, I expect Bowser to be reformed after he was evicted from the Coney Island Disco Palace during the Great Dinosaur World Recession.
