Have I said yet that I'm amazed at the authenticity of these games? Because I am. I know of few other games like them.

Anyone curious about combat on the Ostfront? Well, Red Orchestra 2's free (and you get to keep it) for a day.

Added it to my Steam account, no idea if or when I'll actually play it though.

Damn, definitely taking advantage of this deal!

One important question though... how active is the online community? I know the free download will likely cause a spike of fresh blood into the servers, but how many players were typically playing before? I don't wanna find out that I'm entering a game with a community that migrated on to the next expansion or anything...

^ There's always be at least a few servers with high population, from what I've played in the past few months...not that much, but there's definitely ones you can play. Plus, you can play Rising Storm even only with RO 2, you're just restricted to limited class and loadout...so you can at least still enjoy some Pacific theater action.

For your area, I think there's a few Japanese servers that are quite populated.

Well Rising Storm 2 got announced yet no one's said a thing so I guess IT'S UP TO ME.

A focus on asymmetry will be sought again.

Squads will created by players, and iron sights can be misaligned during gameplay (such as from moving).

Players will not lose speed continuously as they lose stamina. Also, shotgun.

Hooo yeah. Definitely gonna be grabbing this baby someday. Probably during a Steamsale or something, but I will be grabbing it. Just hoping my rig is capable of running the game, the graphics requirements seem much higher just from the few screens released.

Whoa, I didn't even know those existed. And I can see why they haven't appeared in any other FPS so far - aside from making underslug shotgun attachments and shotguns themselves redundant as a choice, the amount of pellets such a large shell might carry would make for an ugly spread radius indeed.
