As I have always fancied playing a more realistic shooter (I need to learn Arma 2 sometime - I have it, just haven't really played it), I hope well for its prospects. And the fact they are adding realistic collision detection for the weapons is pretty fraggin' awesome to help the art imitate life as to why no one tries to storm using long rifles.
I never would have thought I'd come crawling begging for more WWII, and RO 2 is gonna deliever. DAMN I'm hyped for this game. The only 'realist' FPS i'm looking forward to.
Looks great. While I'm more interested in the big mechanized operations of the Great Patriotic War at Kursk, Bagration and Vistula-Oder, you can't beat anything Tripwire puts out.
So I hear this is finally going to include a singleplayer campaign from the German perspective, something no other WW2 FPS has been gutsy enough to do yet.
With cannon shot and gun blast smash the alien. With laser beam and searing plasma scatter the alien to the stars.IMO it would be better to see an FPS campaign set against Brits and Americans rather than one against "those faceless Red hordes".
Oh, I agree. I could see playing as a soldier in the Afrika Corps working really well. Having a German campaign at all is still a good step forward. RTS and sim games usually have German perspectives, it's about time FP Ss did as well.
I remember when Call of Duty was fairly radical for having a Soviet campaign. Hell, even having a British perspective was pretty new. Before that it was all about Team America.

Now available for pre-purchase on Steam for a 10% discount. 20% if you have Red Orchestra Ostfront.
Is it too much to hope that any Finnish tropers reading this would suggest the idea of a Winter War/Continuation War-based mod for RO 2 to any modders they know?
P.S.: "Kollaa Will Hold" sounds too badass to ignore for a suggested title.
Speaking of mods, the following teams are looking for people:
Red Orkestra 40k: Heroes of Armageddon Iron Europe In Country: Vietnam (I think) Homefront '46 Revenge of the Turul: Heroes of Don (might be merged with other minor axis powers mod)
The beta for the delux edition is now open.
It's out. Seems to work well for me, though having your weapons not clip through the environment will take getting some used to. The maps are spectularly large!
i enjoy it a lot, but I absolutely despise the anti-tank class. Especially in the singleplayer campaign where they're shoehorned into maps where there are no tanks.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryIt's pretty fun, although there are a few annoying bugs like a few times in multiplayer for some reason I've not had baynet as rifleman, even though I normally have it and in the singleplayer campaign during the tank battle I've spawned in a tank with a disabled engine and been unable to scuttle the tank.
Needs some bug fixing but otherwise its a nice game. The AT class might need some buffs, being utterly useless at the moment.
Multiplayer, as always, is very hit and miss. I had a few great games, with respectable players. Then I played a game with spawn-campers on the enemy side and one of those "Stop Having Fun" Guys on my own, who chewed out the entire team for not winning.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryYesterday I just encounter a "12 random achievements unlocked" bug, along with my stats bugging out with the result being most of my weapons having upgrades and all of the classes at veteran/hero.
Stats has been reset, there is a double XP/kill event going on for compensation.
Free weekend, double XP for the duration and its 75% off. Also major content patch with tonns of bug fixes, tweaks and optimization. Also a free map.
Well I'm back to playing this game and frequently getting shot without seeing the enemy or totally messing up when I do and getting OneHitKilled anyway. Of course, anything I do actually kill is thus rewarding as heck.
I should ask the forums how to actually be somewhat aggressive as a rifleman.

Has anyone here tried Rising Storm out yet? It's the expansion set on the Pacific Front. If not, it's worth a try ( and perhaps a buy ). I have two extra copies for it, if anyone is interested.
Really? Nobody want's free stuff? Two copies of Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm, for free. Just kinda sitting here. Doing nothing.
Normally I would, but I've got way too many games in my backlog already. :/
Last thing I need is another distraction from my playtime with Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion, anyhow...

After noticing a distinct lack of a topic for Red Orchestra, I felt the need to spread the word about Red Orchestra since it's a very promising game. In short it's a realistic (but not too realistic to hinder the entertainment value) WW 2 FPS situated around and in Staling in 1941 and '42. One of the best things about his games is that the developers are a real dedicated bunch; both of their games (Killing Floor and the original Red Orchestra) have received a huge number of substantial updates and the developers are, even though it's still months for the release, funding a well-known modding group to make a expansion to the game set in the Pacific. They also have released the SDK to some groups so they can begin developing mods, a very promising mod seems to be a WW 1 mod.
