I'm not sure, the only thing I can think of is a 'key' that I'm building in my mind, in an attempt to trick myself into lucid dreaming. The key only exists physically in my mind, and theoretically when I find it I'll figure out that I'm dreaming.

My Two-Face Coin. I know how long it takes to stop spinning on a hard surface.

Also, its badass.

Don't you know?

An MP 3 player or Ipod would actually work because I know what files are on it, how much it weighs, and what it does when I turn it on.

[up][up]...That's actually really smart. I definitely know my iPod better than any other object I own.

I used to like my claddagh ring for this, but everyone used a ring and I stopped wearing it months ago. The only other two options would be my bracelet and my glasses, but they're both a little too generic to work.

And if I claim to be a wise man, well, it surely means that I don't know.

For me it'd have to be something that I carry on myself at all times and is practically innocuous.

I'd choose a pen. In a dream, I could flip and twirl it effortlessly. In real life, It'd be weighted on one end.

I'd choose either my Optimus Prime keychain figurine that has a broken leg or a Snapple Cap with a false fact on it.

My logic is undeniable.

A totem is an object that a) you always carry with you, and b) has a property not known to anyone else, and thus cannot be replicated in anyone else's dream.

Therefore, the perfect totem I would use is my smartphone. by installing apps and adding contacts to it, you can constantly change the unknown property. Other can touch it, and even see it in real life, but they don't know what all the apps on it are, or your entire contact list. simply check it yourself before attempting the extraction.

The chess piece and the loaded die are standard totems. The top is very much non standard. It is a projection powerful enough to enter into the dreams of another and behave consistently. Just as the projection of Mal always shows up to cause trouble, he has internalized that her top spins forever outside of real life. That said, with him finally being free of Mal, it's behavior can no longer be relied upon, so the ending is still inconclusive, no matter what anyone else has said.
