Lina waved her hand dismissively. "I figured you guys might snore less, and I was having trouble sleeping at the other inn so I came over here. Didn't help much." She yawned. "Maybe I should go back to them and see if they have an easier way of getting food than trying to find something to hunt." She contemplated that, shrugged, and started to head outside.

"There must be at least one restaurant in this town that will feed me properly..."

You guys are free to have a fight anywhere you want to, but interfering with an innocent girl’s meal is unforgivable.

"So we're in groups?," Nick asked from the corner of the inn he'd spent most of the night. "Why is that?"

Griff stared at Nick in bewilderment when he asked that. "Well would you rather travel alone throughout this barren wasteland? This is a very dangerous place. It's much safer to travel in groups than alone, in case of various threats." He retorted. This person wasn't being thought highly by Griff. Then again, maybe he didn't know the severity of the situation, which was understandable. Still, that question was just begging for a rebuttal like that.

"There's another group we occasionally meet up with during the trip," Oswald answered Nick. "Met with them thrice," he explained. "First was this abandoned suburb where everyone got turned into toys and attacked by freaks of nature; second was at this palace owned by a penguin monarch who's planning to convert his place into sound kinda inn or something; and finally right near the bottom of the mountain we recently scaled through where we first met the head of this mercenary group called the Bloodhounds."

Ezio listened to all of these explanations, his face neutral. Inside his head, though, his mind was whirling, the cogs turning at amazing speeds. His eyes minisculey darted to different places on the table, trying to convince his mind that, again, he really was here. After a few minutes of this, he shook his head slightly, pinching the bridge of his nose in thought. "So none of you are from here, then," the assassin said to the group that was gathered in general. "That simplifies things." A heavy layer of sarcasm was slapped onto this sentence.

The assassin stood up, his cloak flowing out under him once again. "That does not matter, however. We are all stuck here, and we might as well make the best of it." He stretched, his back popping as he did so. "Like I said before, you strike me as the kind of people who stick together — travel some. Not a lot, but some. I move to my next question, after that awkward transition: may I join your little group? I feel that if I do not join in with an already preestablished group, I may just die in this unfamiliar land." Ezio shrugged. "Morbid, I know, but hey, what're you going to do?" He then continued to stand there, clasping his hands behind his back again. He nervously extended and retracted his hidden blade as he stood there, only a slight chink being heard with each press of the tiny button.

"Sure you can join up with us, pal!" Oswald said. "More the merrier I'd say!" The rabbit then heard the slight chink coming from assassin's wrists. In the cartoon industry, chink along with any other similar sounds are always obvious sounds for blades, but he could not tell where they were coming from where he was sitting. Must be a nervous tic, he thought.

Agatha relaxed somewhat, her suspicious expression dropping as the clank introduced itself.

"Nice to meet you, Wheatley. I'm Agatha." The spark said by way of introduction, speaking over her shoulder as she reached for her vest.

"Well, we've been told this planet is called "Extremus"." She said, pulling on garment and beginning the search for her boots. "Sorry we can't be much more specific than that." She added ruefully. "I understand it's some sort of... dimensional scrap heap, or graveyard - a collection of debris from many other worlds."

"Yeah, ya can join us," Rogue said to Ezio, pointing her head to Nick Fury. "Heck, Nick Fury's new here, too."

"But we ought to save our weaponry for when we truly need them," Rogue said, pointing to Ezio's back. "We usually have to kill creatures to survive here and have fought a lot of enemies, too."

Needless to say, it would be good to have more help on their side, especially in this hostile enviroment. Rogue would be willing to take any help they can get.

Ezio snapped out of his self-induced reverie at Rogue's comment regarding his weapons. His mouth turned down into a frown, and his hands came to hang by his sides, the blade retracted. "Yes, quite right." He looks as if he is thinking now — his hand strokes his beard, which is now a good inch longer than it should be. "Damn. I need a shave," he muttered to himself. Ezio glanced up at the group, smiled with his pearly-white teeth, and chuckled. "Sorry. I'm just not used to my beard being this long."

This apology given, he turned his attention to the little talking rabbit in the group. He raised an eyebrow. "Okay, I'm sorry, but I must comment on this — what are you? Everyone else I see here looks at least like a human, but you..." He sighed. "I apologize. I am just not use to seeing discolored rabbits speak to me as if it were routine."

Suddenly, Ezio realized something. "Ah, right. I've just remembered." Ezio inclined himself slightly, in what could be considered a bow. "My name is Ezio Auditore of Florence and, since secrecy doesn't seem to be a problem here, I am part of an order of Assassins." You can almost hear the capitalization inflected on the word. "We Assassins cleanse the world of what you would call..." He searched for a word. "...Bad people, if you want to simplify it. We are not the Assassins you find in books" — for books portraying assassins as cold-blooded murderers had already been written by the Templars in an act of spreading propaganda — "and we certainly don't kill civilians. So you don't have to worry about me killing you in your sleep or anything." Ezio chuckled, then slammed a punchline on the end of his joke, delivered in a dark tone, "Which I could do, you know." All emotion disappeared from Ezio's face for a few second, and he stared menacingly at the group for a minute or two, before breaking into a smile. "I am just kidding, of course. Like I said, wanton murder isn't my style."

"Me, I'm a cartoon character!" Oswald answered Ezio happily, not insulted at all. "I'm mostly made out of ink and paint, so I'm practically indestructible to most things. Except paint thinner." The rabbit then shuddered. The Italian then described that he was an assassin. "Oh really? That's cool," he said. "On the other group I mentioned they got an assassin too! Real professional as well, only going after the scum of the underworld, but I think he mostly does it for the money."

"Not exactly..." Raspberyl replied, still keeping her voice low in case anyone happened to still be sleeping. The walls seemed rather thin, after all. "We don't really know what this place is, to be honest. We all just sorta showed up here, so we don't really know much about it. We've just been trying to get home."

It wasn't until Raspberyl had finished speaking that she realized just how little she and the others actually knew about Extremus. Beyond its name and its ever-shifting climate and terrain, it was nothing but an enormous enigma for them. Even Sixes hadn't known much about Extremus, now that she thought about it. What sort of place was Extremus that not even the very arbiters of the Multiverse knew the first thing about it?

"Anyway, where are you from, Wheatley?" the demon girl inquired, having realized that they weren't actually getting anywhere with their discussion of Extremus. "What's your world like?"

"Templar?" Rogue picked up on the historical name, raising an eyebrow, but then glaring at Oswald. "I ain't figurin' he knows what any of that stuff is, Oswald."

"Either way, I'm Rogue," Rogue introduced herself to Ezio, offering her hand. "It's nice to meet ya, Ezio."

At this point, Rogue knew that they were dealing with not only an assassin, but one apparently from Florence, Italy centuries in the past. While she doesn't know how far in the past, she figures he is from somewhere in the Middle Ages. She did have to suppress a chuckle at his comment about being able to kill any of them, when she knew she could probably throw him into a wall one-handed.

"Me? I come from the Aperture science enrichment centre. It's this huge science facility devoted entirely to testing. And I mean really huge! In all my years there, I still don't think I've managed to see all of it" Wheatley spoke with great enthusiasm that indicated that he was not exaggerating.

"If I recall, the real unique thing about the centre was it's system of plates. Basically, they built a whole system of robotic arms designed to hold and move various kinds of walls and panels around the whole facility! With this system, you could form any kind of test room you wanted. The testing possibilities were limitless!" Wheatley's explanations were accompanied by many big gestures. Or at least as big as a sphere with only an eye and two shutters to move could manage.

Wheatley's enthusiasm was likely brought on by his nostalgia for the "good old days" working there before everything went wrong. Months floating in space tended to break down any sense of monotony one built through routine.

"Despite all the fatal accidents that happened constantly, I'd say that place was probably one of the greatest researching facilities in existence... o-or at least it was, before everyone died."

Sanya almost frowned. He was willing to take Ezio at his word that Assassins were not cold blooded murderers, but the mention of Templars...

Michael was a Templar,*

As far as Sanya knew, what was left of the Templar Knights had dedicated himself to charity in the last century.

Ah, but this Ezio was from a different world wasn't he? Or perhaps Sanya was simply reading too far into things.

He neither frowned nor smiled as he answered the assassin, but simply lifted his breakfast cup in greeting, "My name is Sanya, Knight of the Cross." Sanya was continuing to speak in Russian, and was now hearing everyone speak in his native language.

He suppressed a sigh, this world was going to take some getting used to.

Somewhat unsurprisingly, the strange sphere on the windowsill, who apparently went by the name of Wheatley, began to wonder just where he was. Agatha and Beryl soon provided a quick, rather bare-bones description of their situation, while May shook off the last of her sleepiness as she struggled herself to think of anything to add to their explanation.

She was saved the effort when Beryl asked Wheatley about his own world, a request that the robotic sphere seemed only too happy to fulfil, as he began rambling, eye shutters seeming to emphasise his words as he spoke, his animated voice contrasting somewhat disconcertingly with his completely mechanical appearance. Most of what he said about a testing facility flew straight over May's head.

The sudden mention of fatal accidents snapped the Trainer's attention back to the talkative sphere.

"Before what?" she asked, wondering if she had somehow managed to mishear the last part of the sphere's words. After his cheerful description of the facility he apparently called home, it had been more than a little jarring to hear the sudden shift in tone as he began to hesitantly mention the deaths of its staff.

Anyway here's Blackwall

'An assassin, huh?.' Nick thought to himself. Well he'd been in the government agent business long enough to know that the difference between the two was often a matter of semantics so he wouldn't judge Enzio yet but he would keep an eye on him. Aloud he said, "If you think Oswald is weird wait until you meet the gun toting squirrel."

"Morning."

Matt had finally made his way down the stairs, being somewhat lethargic and unwilling to face the day. But he decided that not bothering would be more likely to get him abandoned by the group somewhere, and as little as he liked to admit it, he was reliant on them.

He had put on his jacket and concealed his guns, although his sword and it's sheath were in his hand.

Kyo looked up. Wherever she was, she'd already figured out she wasn't home. She seemed to be outside some kind of medieval town. However, the diversity of the residents seemed to hint that wherever she was was a multiversal sinkhole, similar to her own universe, but it was clear looking around that she wasn't in her homeworld, since all of the land she could see was attached to itself. She was making a mental checklist of possible universes she was in.

1982, 2316, 3225 or 6756.

She made her way toward the town.

Ezio raised an eyebrow at Oswald as he explained what he was. He knew about all of the things that Oswald was made of, of course, it was just the word 'cartoons' that confused him — because in his version of Italian, there really wasn't a word for 'cartoons,' it came out slightly...garbled. He shook his head, and reexamined it — it transformed into the words 'moving' and 'picture' inside of his head as he studied it. His eyebrow lowered for a second, and then its partner took its place. "You are a...moving picture? I did not know those existed," Ezio said to the cartoon rabbit, shrugging his shoulders. "But of course, I am from what you would call 'the past,' I take it."

Ezio now turned his attention to Rogue. She was quite pretty, if he had to say so himself...which he didn't, obviously. He knew that would probably be a very bad idea. Instead, he just shook her hand with a smile. "I am not oblivious as to what ink and paint are, Miss...Rogue." Ezio hesitated slightly on the name, as it translated to 'thief' in his head for a second before finally revealing to him the true nature of the word. "And it is nice to meet you as well."

Ezio bowed his head to Emily in greeting, and then he heard Sanya speak. He did not show the same indifference that Sanya did, and a frown appeared on his face. "You are a knight?" he asked, turning towards the man. "You do not seem like one. All of the knights I have read about in history are more...stuffy." Another eyebrow of Ezio's was raised. "And much quicker to get drunk." Ezio now chuckled. "Oh well. At least this means that knights become more reformed in the future years."

Ezio then turned to Nick. "A...what-toting...?" His mind processed the word for a little bit, translating it to 'cannon', and then mentally his mind showed him a picture of the hidden gun he used to use, and then a musket. He nods. "Ah. A gun-toting squirrel." He then realized what he just said. "Wait — you have squirrels that carry guns in your world?" asked Ezio of the man, once again raising an eyebrow.

"Uh, no," Oswald said to Ezio when asking about Sandy. "Sandy, the squirrel traveling with us, actually came from a completely different universe from all of us. Heck, I doubt any two of us came from the same universe all together!" A beat. "Except for those eccentric mercenaries we met back in that jungle. The Texan seemed pretty nice."

He then refocused on Ezio. "By the way, what century are you from?" the rabbit asked the assassin. "It got plucked out of my dimension at around 2010."

"Fury means Sandy," Rogue explained to Ezio, glancing over to Fury. "She's like Oswald, but not a cartoon and not from any of our worlds."

Rogue was not about to admit that she and Nick Fury shared a universe with a creature like Howard The Duck. Rogue then glanced back at Oswald, "Actually, Nick Fury over here is from the same world as I am."

"He works for the organization known as SHIELD," Rogue explained, not completely sure if Nick Fury was from her own past or her future and not exactly wanting to reveal him as being director of SHIELD yet. Besides, she figured Fury would be the one to better explain his relationship with SHIELD. "Fury can explain it better."
