They're under the name Valiant Entertainment now.
Valiant is freaking amazing right now.
I'm not the nicest bloke you've ever met, but I do me best.Archer and Armstrong is by far one of the funniest books I've ever read.
Im partial to Quantum and Woody. :) Anyone exited for Divinity 2?
I'm not the nicest bloke you've ever met, but I do me best.Btw,Im pretty sure its intentional, but does Analog Man remind anyone of Old Man Logan?
I'm not the nicest bloke you've ever met, but I do me best.Well, just take a look at his name.
I meant just this story.Whole retired badass living in the desert, his family getting killed, his old friend recruiting him to save the world/roadtrip.Gangs like Punishers/Shadowmen. I know OML was based on Unforgiven, btw.
I'm not the nicest bloke you've ever met, but I do me best.Deathmate? I hope its just a joke.
I'm not the nicest bloke you've ever met, but I do me best.Well thats a shame. But I am excited for the final arc.
That was probably the greatest run in the last 10 years, hands down. Deathmate is a new Predator styled villain for Bloodshot.Crisis averted.
I'm not the nicest bloke you've ever met, but I do me best.BUMP (or what ever it is called that revives topic).
For a while I heard some great things about Valiant, both the original and relaunch. I have heard of the comics back when I was a kid through Turok (who at the time I thought was a comic book adaption of the video game) and, don't hate me for this, Deathmate which introduce me to some of the characters . . . I didn't bought those comics, they were my uncle's who was pretty much a teen during the 90s while I was still a toddler. But other than that, that comic did introduce me to characters like Doctor Solar, Bloodshot, HARD Corps and Ninjak (who has the coolest premise ever).
Naturally I wanted to read all the comics they made but didn't find the time. Until now. Basically I went with the reboot comics since A) I want to be up to date with the stories and B) I found a reading order to these comics unlike the ones for the 90s. And here are my thoughts to what I just read:
- Harbinger #0 - 5: So basically its is Scanners but in comic book form? Sold. This is an awesome book!
- Bloodshot #1 - 4: So basically its Wolverine meets The Terminator meets Total Recall? Again sold.
- X-O Manowar #1 - 4: Okay, who gave Conan the Barbarian a space armor? I blame the aliens from V for screwing that up. Also, sold.
- X-O Manowar #5 - 8: And now ninja James Bond appear. I am already sold on this series, don't make me enjoy more of it.
- Eternal Warrior # 1 - 4: Cool concept of a low fantasy, but this one does not interest me. Especially compare to the last books which had space Conan the Barbarian take on ninja James Bond.
- Archer and Armstrong # 1 - 4: Currently reading this but for some reason I picture the characters as Rick and Morty; if Rick is a burly immortal with a "been there done that" attitude and Morty is a Christian child soldier with many skills.
All in all, this is now my favorite thing to read, and I hope to catch up with the current comics very soon.
In the 1990s there was a comic publisher called Valiant that, like Image, focussed on Creator-Owned comics.
But while Image was created by good artists (and Rob Liefeld) who weren't necessarily good writers. Valiant was the opposite. It had very well written comics in a consist universe.
Because their universe operated in real time, they were super strict with shipping dates. They even acquired -and revamped- a few Gold Key comics characters.
But after a disastrous crossover with Image, Valiant collapsed and it's characters where bought out by Acclaim,
HOWEVER; I found an X-O Manowar comic in my local shop...dated 2008. I can't find ANY information on this, so are my favourite publisher back? Help me out.
