Okay, after a bit of a break I've cleared all of the sidequests except the post-game heroes' ascension quests. ...What's a good way to grind CP?
I've been keeping my party's levels around 70 and slapping around the elite monsters on Daedal Isle, dunno if that's necessarily the "best" way to go about it. Don't forget to buy the +40% CP food from the Agnus Castle breakroom for good measure, now that food works again.
My way to grind CP in the postgame is Put Noah in an Attacker class and equip Capable Hands (with level 20 Flash Fencer) and Infinite Sword. Then level down to 70 or so and visit the level 100 enemies in that cave in Cadensia where you can't Interlink or the level 90 enemies in the cave in the lower level of Maktha.
I've just been letting my characters auto-battle (with the aforementioned +40% CP food) in the Demihuman Gutter while I do other stuff.
I've been playing on Hard all game but since I'm just mindlessly grinding out level ranks, I set it to Easy for now so it goes faster.

You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Done! I followed Reflextion's advice, but in retrospect I could have used the cavity without messing with my levelnote . Didn't know it existed at the time, though!
So, uh, those quests were very underwhelming. Still haven't had a chance to see what the summoner is capable of in a chain attack :/
Technically there's a good chunk of the map left for me to explore, but I'm kinda burned out on the game for the moment. Might pick up the expansion pass if it ever gets any significant story content, but I just don't care that much about a single new hero
The game did imply that there's an answer to at least one of the major questions I have about the queens, so I think there is a decent chance of story content I'm interested in, at least

Two new heroes, actually, the one after Ino looks like a Machina.
Story expansion should be fun, I hope they announce it at E3/equivalent Nintendo Direct again. The Torna reveal was pretty awesome.
Yeah, at this point I'm mostly just picking up XC3 to occasionally do a bit of mindless grinding here and there, we'll see what the Challenge Mode DLC looks like

If Xenoblade 2 was any indication, most likely there'll be more unannounced, possibly free patched-in Heroes to go with the two formally announced ones. Although, granted part of the reason it was that way in 2 was due to a lot of the content being literally unfinished at the time of release due to its release issues.
I'm expecting three DLC heroes total, given (post-game spoilers) that'd make the class selection screen a nice, perfect rectangle.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique! We'll see, but I kinda doubt it. Before the challenge DLC hit for 2, the extra characters were already datamined. As far as I'm aware there's no similar datamine for 3. Now the official reveal was a day before the DLC came out so we'll see on the twelfth because it's entirely possible that Monolithsoft's gotten good at not leaving data for unreleased content in the game files
That's my guess, the story DLC will have one new character for the base game too.
There is, in fact, data pointing to possible heroes, though it could just be scraps from cancelled plans.
This data points to Mwamba (beyond what we already see of him in-game), Nimue, and Joran.

I missed the part where that's my problem.Oh, I have seen that. Seems more like something for a challenge mode stage, if it's not testing related. You're right though, that is what I was talking about.
Nimue? Isn't she a Tactician?
Song of the SirensJustice for Hackt.
I've seen it pointed out that Taion's weapons in the Hero Roster are actually listed as Spelltags and he calls them Mondo as a pet name. It could work like a more dramatic version of 2, where different characters could wield the same generic weapon types with different movesets. The datamined weapon icon is ambiguous enough that Nimue could still fold her Spelltags into a wand or origami flowers instead of the rabbit-things Taion has.

All of those datamined characters sound like things that would have been dropped for story reasons, rather than running out of time
Yeah, they sound like things that were considered as playable but then dropped.
They could end up as challenge mode things though, like that one mission in 2 where you play as Jin.
Based on how quickly the game goes from chapter 5 to the end... I do think they ran out of time to implement things... Chapter 6 is like boom then fetch quest, more filler, more filler then back on the story. Like the story easily sets up Mwamba and a few others becoming heroes but diverge at the end with him just hanging out in the City.
Late game does feel kinda unfinished, but you get three heroes around the time of Colony Omega, and I think Mwamba in particular was cut as a deliberate choice to focus on the more interesting characters without wrecking the pacing
Also his class would be way overspecialized to actually play as-is, half the arts have anti-Agnus effects. I don't think he was intended to be playable.
And then there's Joran who, you know, turned evil and then permanently dies
Could just be non-canon like certain blades in 2.
I missed the part where that's my problem. It's not like you get much of an opportunity to use Mwamba against Agnus enemies to begin with, outside of the very first battle.
‘permanently’ might not have been the original idea, N and M exist at the same time as Noah and Mio. M even dies and nothing happens to Mio. The plan might have been to meet a Joran before or after J dies. The whole mobius and 10 years permadeath thing still seems off in the context of the story… like if Z is all about the cycle churning why even allow for the population count to even go down by 1.
I've defeated every superboss on the hardest difficulty.
The team for the first two bosses is Swordfighter, Zephyr, Medic Gunner, Seraph, Signifer, and Ogre. The Hero is Ashera.
The team for the remaining three bosses is Swordfigher, Troubadour, Full Metal Jaguar, Seraph, Signifer, and Ogre. The Hero is Summoner.
I'm gonna take a break from this game and focus on Dragon Quest XI.
