Beat the main game. The Vita beat me once when it reflected my G-Buster, but other than that it was a joke. Lao took a few tries, but I actually know how to fight this time, so he was manageable eventually without lowering the difficulty. Despite the sparse story and lack of closure, the ending is still emotionally satisfying. Well at least till the epilogue hits.

Finally obtained Chain Attack. Enemies started dying faster now. Combat has been Padded Sumo Gameplay before this.

Chain attacks are a bit different from how they were in Xenoblade 1.

Here, they're less things to just pop whenever you've got a full bar, and more a finisher you use once you've stacked some elemental orbs around the enemy.

Also it's much easier to predict when you get a bonus chance at attacking the enemy; it's completely within your control now.

How do I get on the escalator in Uraya's stomach?

The escalator is only able to be used an an exit from the big city at the top of it. There's no way to go up it.

To reach that big city, you need to use those raised pathways that crisscross the edges of the Stomach, using a path that starts a bit south and to the west of the middle of the area.

You fell for the stairs trap too? Everyone does it.

The full walkthrough: Head to the center plateau where you obtain a quest. Follow the trail east of it and unblock the waterway with fire and wind mastery (ie Pyra and Roc). Follow the trail from there, which will take you around southwest. That's the real entrance to Fonsa Myma.

Again, I should re-iterate, do every sidequest you can and maybe some other stuff before you meet up with Vandham's contact.

Definian Downfall complete to much less frustration than it first was. Just needed a Resist Topple Augment. Was going to go for Resist Launch as well, but that's too hard to get the parts for without a super skell, and Global Nemesis wasn't up. All praise be to the defense boost when your allies are in their skells.

Reached the Uraya Capital.

I am full of Blades, and can't get more Boosters. I need to get rid of them so I can trade stuff.

Oh yeah, thanks.

So apparently Mythra has a Skell and a Kill Sat. Meanwhile, Rex continues to be my least favorite protagonist.

Here's some tips on whether or not to keep or get rid of common blades.

Release them if:

  • They only have one or two Field Skill nodes.
  • They only have elemental mastery in terms of Field Skills.
  • They only have one crown's worth of quality. Rare blades have five, common ones have one to four. The more the better.
  • They have an annoying voice.

[up]One other reason to keep them.

They have a Luck Mod.

Luck Mod can only appear on common blades, no rares have it, and it shows up on commons far less frequently than any other stat mod.

Equipping commons with Luck Mod (and accessories that increase your Luck) before opening a large batch of core crystals very slightly improves the odds of getting rare blades.

Ah yes, forgot about that. There are weapon chips that boost a blade's luck too, but not for Shield Hammers, Katanas, or Ether Cannons.

Got the third Rare Blade: Electra.

Nia got her. Now I'm doing her side quest.

Protip, it'll take a while to finish her sidequest simply because of some of the places you need to go for it.

Also, she's not suitable on any of the drivers that you have so far. Keep going on with the story. Or actually, take a visit to Torigoth and talk to Vess. You want to obtain her sooner than later. You can put off getting Sheba until you get more drivers, or for my preference, not get her at all.

Fourth Rare Blade: Ursula.

Rex got her...

There's really two drivers who are good with Ether Cannons, due to having better Ether stats in general, of which Nia is one. But, of course, Sheba shares a water element with Dromarch, and an Ether Cannon Nia will generally want to go all-in on Ether Cannons and Ether Mods, which you won't be able to fill out right now.

Her personal quest also takes a LOT of money to even get access to. But worth it, since she is a pretty good blade, and pretty funny too.

Edit: You got Ursula early? That's fantastic, since she's not going to be finishing her chart until several (dozen) hours of time is wasted on tedious menu flipping. At least you got her before the postgame so you'll have stuff to do besides grind for the last 3 rare blades you need.

And even if you don't spend time filling out Ursula's affinity chart, she's still an excellent Healer because the mere act of switching to her heals the whole party.

Getting her on Rex is actually pretty good, because you want her to be on whichever character you're manually controlling.

Early Ursula is good. The sooner you get her Blade Quest started, the better.

I didn't get Ursula until lategame in my playthrough.

At least you got Ursula early, but it would have been much more preferable to have her on Nia. You can use an Overdrive Protocol to move her that way, although right now, perhaps it may be more ideal to wait until much later. Nia's not the only ideal Knuckle Claws user in the game.

Honestly, Ursula's weapon is pretty irrelevant.

Its not like you're going to do anything besides switch to her to heal the party as a panic button and then immediately switch back to something else, or occasionally use her as an Ice step in a Blade Combo.

Currently doing Ursula's side quest while salvaging.

Ursula will be absent for most of the campaign won't she?
