So in a fit of nice thing acquisition I bought the first season of Yu Yu Hakusho. Man this is going to look so aged watching it again. But then again, it will be a refreshing breather from how polished recent anime tends to look.
...
Wow, I am so glad I didn't watch the live action version, now. That would have been bad.
squee just got to the kisa story in furuba.
sigh. i love this series.
DoodlesOri, I'm confused. Are you still rereading it or did you finish rereading it?
I finished Kamichu yesterday. aka Crowning Moment Of Heartwarming: The Show.
Unspeakably adorable. O___O
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....When Fruits Basket was on Funimation a couple of years ago I watched it but never got a chance to see any of the episodes after episode 18. I started reading the manga instead and just never got around to it.
I've now watched those last episodes and boy, hunh, weird rewrites. The only thing that was kind of cool was Hanajima at the cemetery. But, other than that, weird as hell.
I stopped reading the manga after Momiji was introduced.
My roommate made me watch Detective Conan Case Closed Detective Conan disc one last week. I'm kind of caught up in it but I hate that it dwells on the main plot without advancing it at all.
Fresh-eyed movie blogI hate that there are 38 out of 71 volumes published in English so far and no end in sight. I figured it out one day that at the current rate of 4 or 5 volumes per year it will take ten years for the release of volume 71. And God knows how many more he's got in his pocket.
Well there is the possibility of imminent Author Existence Failure causing him to wrap it up quickly. Or flat out Author Existence Failure making him end it abruptly.
Neither would be satisfactory. I realize the guy has a cash cow on his hands and I was all lined up to pony up for each installment. And then I did the math. Ten dollars plus/minus 10% or so times 71 or more volumes is a fuck of a lot of cash. And the time thing is bad too. In twenty years time, people die. In thirty years time more people die.
It's kind of like being a Cubs fan. It could happen within my lifetime, but maybe not. I hope this doesn't wreck it for other people. I really do like the series a lot.
I would like it more if it focused on the main plot less or progressed it faster.
Fresh-eyed movie blogThat's the reason I prefer to read/watch finished stuff.
In the quiet of the night, the Neocount of Merentha mused: How long does evolution take, among the damned? Also, stuff that doesn't go on forever.
Yeah, I stick to stuff I know is finite.
Fresh-eyed movie blogHell, if an anime is longer than 50 episodes I generally don't bother watching it
Max number of episodes for me in an anime is 26. Exception being Dragon Ball because lolnostalgia.
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya, you mean, right?
I haven't rewatched Saint Seiya in the longest time. I do remember liking it, though.
It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.I like long-running Shounen series.
My attention span is too short for anything longer than 26 episodes.
Become a man and watch Legend of The Galactic Heroes.
I do like my anime wrapped up tightly. Shorter running times force the story to be more focused, which is exactly what I want after a youth of shounen.
Just finished Baccano
God to fucking hell that was awesome. Way to play with the audience and then scold them for trying to make anything of it. <3

Swordsman Troper — Reclaiming The Blade — WatchToo. Fucking. Long

Finished that. I think it is probably better as an anime/manga. I got the impression the people handling the adaptation lost control of the plan. The leather girl's bustier did not fit her and that drove me nuts. The microbes were cute. The fake blood was fake and very magenta. I don't get Goth Loli's at all, I especially don't get a character that is supposed to be a cross dresser being played by a real girl.
