I've run into this sort of thing before then and since then.
90's makes me think Rob Liefeld which makes me think of...yeah...

Eh, all the faces lok the same, but other than that I think it's all right. It looks like Mc Farlane's Spawn artwork and I don't think it should necesarily be "renowned" as you say, but it's good if not kinda generic...

Aondeug: As much as I really, really don't like Liefeld's work, I can't help but think how ridiculously funny the whole situation is. This is a guy who does really weak art, but was paid a fortune for it. I don't know bout you, but that's funny.

Not sure how to put it... disciples... followers... bandwagon jumpers... basically When Liefeld started his 90s thing he was one of many to follow to develop to the art you see today.
I couldn't think of a good word for it so I left it ambiguous.
