Just a little something inspired by these people called Paladin Heralds in my world.

-he takes out a small, bulky looking belt-

This- work in progress- is what I'm calling the Hero Driver at the moment. Name's also a work in progress.

I'm going to make a lot of these.

Since I'm going to invite a whole lot of normal people who aren't already vigilantes or villains.

To compete in a tournament using these in order to gain a much more powerful version- what i call The Mantle of Heroes.

A chance for anyone who enters to change their life, by giving them the opportunity to become a hero. Or villain.

Non-lethal tournament.

"A little of column A, a little of column B, but hey, I'm talking about me a lot. What about you? And where you come from? And stuff?"

{Please stop asking questions...!}

"I volunteer as tribute!"

Roof (Jean)

-Jean looks at the belt with intrigue when Xenos pulls it out.-

-And then she listens.-

-...A tournament of normal people...? A chance to become a hero or villain...?-

-Non-lethal?!-

"W-Whoa... What're the belts going to do exactly?"

-You've actually got her very curious.-

-Will the belts do what she thinks they're going to do...?-

Isabella: ...(leans back in her chair) Me? Well, like I said I consider myself well-traveled. Botswana to Thailand, Milan via Amsterdam - uh, no pun intended.

"There...there was a pun there...?"

-to Laura-

No offence, but you probably won't be a good test!

Your universe is a bit too big compared to mine back home!

-to Jean-

Well, when you put the belt on and activate it.

Haven't figured out the mechanics of how it works yet, by the way- still in design process.

Anyway.

When it activates, it covers you in an armoured suit and helmet.

As well as give you advanced abilities, depending on what you have equipped on the belt.

"Did he just call me fat."

Roof (Jean)

-Jean's eyes widen.-

-I-It's almost like you could be a full-fledged superhero!-

-Or perhaps even...-

-...A magical girl!-

-You can probably see by the look on her face right now that she's pretty much sold on the idea.-

-...W-Wait, she doesn't know how to fight or anything...-

-She immediately loses that shine in her visible eye upon realizing this.-

"...It sounds really cool, but I don't know how to fight..."

Laura, you're not fat.

You're pleasantly curved.

Also a giant.

-to Jean-

Well, I won't be running the tournament here...

But if you want to, I think you'd be a perfect test candidate.

The whole point of these are to allow normal people like you to compete.

And maybe I can train you a little bit too.

-Xenos she looks like you gave her the greatest compliment she's ever received-

Isabella: ...Anyway, I'm actually on the lookout for someone here. Or, last known to be around here, anyway.

-to Jean-

Yeah, I would!

Everyone else here that I know of wouldn't be a good test.

Especially since the Aichi fellows apparently all have some sort of mind-affecting superpower...

-to Laura-

You look like people never say that to you.

"What's their name? I could keep an eye out for you."

-She doesn't respond to Xenos or Athena-

Isabella: She goes by "Val" - short for Valerie. Red curly hair, little bit paler skin than mine, maybe about this high? (indicates about 4 to 4 1/2 feet off the ground a hand)

-Jean isn't sure what to make of that comment about 'the Aichi fellows' (She's never met him. Is there more than one of him or something...?).-

-The point is, that he's willing to let her test it!-

"I'd love to help you test it."

-Her dream of being a magical girl is finally becoming a reality!-

-Xenos pinches the bridge of his nose when he realises what Laura reacted to-

Then it's agreed!

I still need to finish my prototype, so that'll be done at... some point.

Roof (Jean)

-Right, the prototype needs to be finished first...-

"Just let me know when it's ready, and I'll be there."

-And then she finally notices Athena up on Laura and...-

"...W-When did she get up there...?"

-WHAT THE HECK DID SHE MISS?!-

-Seems like she can be hit with tunnel vision sometimes...-

"Yeah, I'll look out for her, tell her you're around."

"...Thanks, Athena."
