It's what they should've been doing in the first place, tbh. There are so many games that came out in the last few years that had me thinking "wouldn't that be great as a Star Wars game?" The Outer Worlds being the most recent, but the game that really had me thinking that was Everspace (which often plays like a "lone X-Wing" game).

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. To say nothing of 1313.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.When does the EA deal end, again?
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?2023.
Agh, being reminded of that game always make me want to cry a little.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well, I finally caved and bought this game on extreme sale on May the 4th.
Been playing it quite a bit since, and I do love it - even if I don't love the company that made it.
The story mode was a nice sort-of intro to the game (I played the first couple levels, played co-op for several days, then came back to it later), albeit it's very obvious the game's system wasn't quite built for a "play through an entire engagement on a single life" concept. As for the game proper, I spent most of my time playing co-op, and the other modes only occasionally. I wish there was a Starfighter Assault Co-Op, but given what happened with the sub-company that made that stuff it's a lost cause.
As for classes, I want to play classes that aren't Heavy, but... it really does feel like I can do most of what the other classes are meant to do with the Heavy class, so I just gravitate towards it. Got it LVL 30 now, Specialist and Officer at LVL 10, and Assault at like 5 or something.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The Officer class is typically the hardest to learn from what I've seen.
Most blaster pistols have merely average range and require a fair bit of accuracy to use, and the couple that hit hard only carry a few shots before needing to cool down; their ROF isn't great either, meaning you're gonna suck against Heroes with high HP. You lack any strong offensive weaponry either, with most of your gear being based upon supporting your squad/faction or placing down defenses such as the turrets or squad shield generator. Best hope for gaining levels and exp is to simply hang back and not be aggressive, farming the exp you get for buffing and protecting your squadmates, or going after the weaker standard infantry classes.
Assault's not so bad if you're the aggressive type. They're meant to quickly recover from damage and go on killsteak-style rampages, especially with that shotgun ability. Assault infantry have good anti-vehicle and hero options too, and their guns are generally effective in most situations. Might be worth trying to give him a run again with that in mind.

Officer's are a case of Jack Of All Magikarps, most of their weapons are utter garbage until you unlock certain upgrades (Improved Burst for Blurrg, Rapid Fire for SE-44C, Dual Zoom and Reduced Recoil for S-5) after which you can fill for almost any combat role but with added support capabilities.
Cards are also somewhat important:
Officer's Presence is a must have, it generates score like crazy and is the closest thing this game has to a heal (except Yoda's one ability).
Of the three commands Improved Battle Command is usually the safest option and it also helps you the most with winning 1v1's.
Squad Shield is terrible in the wrong hands but can be an invaluable asset to both attacking and defending teams as a mean to create safe space, which also synergizes greatly with O.P. to help your team regenerate health after pulling back while guarding them from any grenade that was thrown after them.
I found Officer to be the class I was most natural with besides Heavy. While I want to be better with Specialist even though it's tougher (so it feels like grinding sometimes), generally when I don't want to wreck face with Heavy I just go Officer and rally the attack.
The Overwatch experience helps when it comes to managing an effective turret and utilizing area of effect buffs, at any rate.
I couldn't care less about the Assault class, but the completionist in me can't leave it unexplored.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Man, an era locked Galactic Assault mode with less heroes would be perfect. Imo, what they should have had was Supremacy and Galactic Assault era locked, and then a No-Restrictions Supremacy.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.Wouldn't be too hard to implement. But since Battlefront II's development is at an end, we probably won't see any such efforts from DICE.
Good. Give development to a company with ahistory of making good games rather than interactive digital money farms
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youSorry for the necro but
Some huge news for OG Battlefront fans.
So the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection came out today.
I immediately suspected that.
Remasters tend to go pretty bad.
Certified: 48.0% West Asian, 6.5% South Asian, 15.8% North/West European, 15.7% English, 7.4% Balkan, 6.6% ScandinavianYou know, uh, I haven’t played any of the Battlefront games, but I feel like it’s a good rule of thumb to have well more than three online multiplayer servers for games like this with as many people who enjoy online multiplayer games as there are.
"I shall not be foolish again, my dear Gwendolyn!"It seems fine on Switch, at least.
I missed the part where that's my problem. The list of bugs is just insane.
- Half the cutscenes for the campaign are missing.
- There are two versions of the game, one that doesnt even have control options.
- Locked at 30 FPS
- No AI Heroes
- Invisible barriers
- All versions are crashing
Its also 90 gigs?

The fuck???
I have the original from Steam, it's like not even 10 gig
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youWow, sounds like it might be even worse than Warcraft III Reforged.

Well at least this one is not actively trying to replace the original.
Speaking of which, seems like I'm better off just booting the old version up again.
That's true, though 3 total servers is a pretty special disaster.
I suppose they should just be considered separately and uniquely horrific.
Man, 2023 and 2024 have been swamped with bad game releases.
Disgusted, but not surprisedAt least we're getting some amazing titles in return for all the awful shovelware and scams. For every King Kong, The Day Before, or The Lord of the Rings - Gollum, in turn we got more Baldurs Gate 3's, Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Lethal Company, Helldivers 2, Palword, Trepang 2, Armored Core 6... the list goes on.
Which is a fine way to do things. Several companies do something similar, with moderate success. A few were mentioned earlier in the thread.
I just wish we didn't have to wait so long to bear fruit on this. The game development cycle is long, and they can't even start until the EA exclusive deal ends.
