Video games are all terrible.
This is the one truth I have learned.
A mistruth that is...
The only good fanboy, is a redeemed fanboy. As long as EA keeps getting fucked over.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie.""AAA Video Games" are terrible.
And finally, EA has learned their lesson. In addition to unlocking all the heroes, they're revamping the Star Card system into leveling up via exp gained per class (think something akin to the recent Battlefield games). Credits earned will now go into purchase emotes, taunts, victory poses, etc and some of the skins, though certain special skins may be real-world cash only.
If you want more details, check out EA's original post here.
They had to be beaten to it though. They're still effectively the devil of the games industry, and I hope they lose the shit out of their Star Wars license. I need Vader in Kingdom Hearts, dammit!
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youHey I now have incentive to play this game.
I'll put it on my Gamefly right now.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Fights are a bit repetitive and being new absolutely sucks. Flying is fun, but really once enemies lock onto you, there's not many chances to escape.
Best way to survive is to ignore ALL your instincts to run, kill your engine, and turn and roll like a ballerina.
In the meantime, people who spent money while it was allowed have god-penises that can obliterate you while they're facing the other direction.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youIf you want more details, check out EA's original post here.
The phrase that comes to mind over this is simply "too little, too late".
"Allah may guide their bullets, but Jesus helps those who aim down the sights.""Show me again... The power of the darkness... And I'll let nothing stand in our way... Show me... Grandfather... "
"Try spinning, that's a good trick!"
And while it may be a bit late, by doing this EA will receive some goodwill back. Goodwill is a valuable commodity, even if it is earned through lazy means.
I also want Vader in Kingdom Hearts. Maybe he'll be in III, but that's a topic for the KH thread.
Not possible unfortunately. 3 is scheduled for release in just a few months, and Vader is still licensed to EA in all videogames.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youIt would entirely depend on how friendly EA and Square still are, Square has a really good relationship in the past with a LOT of cross promotion such as the Mass Effect N7 uniforms in FFXIII-2 and Sims outfits in XV as well as the PC version of XV is on Origin.
And seeing how KH is a Disney published game negotiations wouldn’t be that hard unless the contract specifically stated that they could not.

Can we at least get Jar Jar as a summon?
Moving back onto topic, when are Obi Wan and Grievous getting in? In fact, who's you want to be added? Try and think main films rather than EU stuff, since I'm genuinely interested in the actual possibilities. I like Revan as much as the next guy, but that ain't happening any time soon.
Also, we're totally getting Solo cross promotion.
They already have a model created for General Grievous, but they're having a hard time animating his four arms. And furthermore, all development was shifted towards re-balancing the game and it's economy after the loot crate fiasco, so we'll probably start seeing effort shift back into creating actual new content from here onward.
Good.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Scout is currently underpowered. I'd love for her to get a little more mobility. Maybe a wall-climb ability that replaces her scanner? Put a timer and a long-ass cooldown on it for balance.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youAs long as Grievous still has his Collection I will be happy.
So how is Battlefront now, after the changes EA made to their practices this month? It's on sale right now on PSN, so I'm wondering if it's worth it to buy.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. The campaign is short and linear and the gameplay modes don't have very much variety. It's great for fifteen minutes sessions, but after more than that it just feels like a repetitive slog. Space is predictably more fun than any of the ground-based game modes. Progression and upgrades are slow and unfulfilling. Even if you pay for stuff because you have to level up to use them as well. Leveling is slow. Very slow. And it's hard because everyone in the world will be better at the game and have better equipment than you.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youWait, I thought you couldn't pay for gameplay significant affects and gear any more. Didn't they say earlier this month that they were altering the method such that paid content only involves cosmetic items now?
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. From what I heard, you can't pay for Star Cards and the like, but they're still in the game and tied to progression, so it's still a fairly grindy game.
Star Cards can now only be earned through levelling up your chosen class/hero/ship/waifu/gungan. So, you can't "Buy" them with credits, but you use skill points earned through levelling to purchase and then upgrade them. It's a bit of a grind, but just git gud and you shouldn't have too much trouble. Of course, now you'll need to actually play Assault to level up Assault. You can't just play Heroes vs Villains, get credits and then gamble them for Star Cards and hope you get some good Assault cards. For better or for worse - probably mostly for the better.
Kinda for the worst in regards for the Heroes, especially the starfighters. You basically need to have an excellent game whenever in control of them in order to gain enough exp to level up; just merely running around as Yoda won't get you points, you've gotta get some stuff done first.
Overall, though? I wouldn't be so negative as Blckrhbbt; the game has plenty of redeemable traits. Yeah the campaign was a letdown, but the multiplayer modes are honestly fun, in that typical chaotic Battlefront manner. Not as tactical or open as the Battlefield titles though - they clearly want you to carry the conflict in a certain direction, and unless you manage to drag out a stalemale via some god-tier gameplay, most matches are only going to last a set amount of time, no matter what. And Starfighter Assault by itself is worth the price of admission, that mode is downright dope in all the right ways. Heck, up until the recent update it was arguably the best way to grind for credits, reward crates and exp.
The biggest complaint I have towards the game right now is the netcode. You're going to be at a significant disadvantage if you suffer from high ping. It's manageable in the ground combat (well, mostly), but downright ruinous in the Starfighter Assault mode. Because unless you're flying one of the crazy-maneuverable starships that can also quickly escape or lose a pursuing enemy, the ping just seems to screw over the player with the greater latency, probably through delayed reactions and maneuvers.
The problem with SF mode is that there's only about five maps. You just cycle through those same maps over and over again with little to no variation each time, except for which team you're on. You don't get to choose allegiance, you don't get to choose scenarios, you only get to choose which ship you're flying.
Don't get me wrong; it's a fun game and worth playing. Don't buy it for more than about ten dollars though.

Indeed. They could have avoided all of this if they'd done it this way from the beginning, but nope! Had to get censured by Disney, lose millions in stock value, and have the game start out as a sales bomb before it finally sank in.
