Okay. So, as you may gather from the title, this is a Dungeons and Dragons game with a similar concept to Thief.

Basically, you and the other PC's would belong to the Guild of Shadows- a Guild dedicated to messing around with politics via assassinations, planting false evidences and accusations, kidnappings, etc.

There isn't really a plot, beyond me sending you out to dabble in assassinations, kidnappings, etc. Beyond that, the game will be shaped by YOUR actions- if you screw up, it carries lasting consequences.

INUH and I will both be co-GM'ing the game. I will be controlling the narrative aspects of it, and INUH will be controlling the game mechanics.

There is a schedule created.

We will be playing (GMT- please check this against your timezone)-

11PM-2AM on Sundays-Mondays;

1AM-5AM Wednesdays;

and 3AM-5AM Fridays.

Rules for characters:

You start at Level 4. Each player is given 5400 plus their classes' starting amount of gold to play with.

No Lawful alignments, nor will the Guild accept any Chaotic Evil characters.

You'd probably do best with stealth-oriented classes.

Other than that... Go nuts ^_^

I'm in...obviously...

If I'm just doing mechanics, rather than plot, should I make a character?

Um, if you want ^_^

I'll be creating a character, too, but I'm willing to drop her if too may people join.

At the moment, I figure we can have a team of 6.

Right, then. I'll do a Rogue. I'll make it tomorrow.

Okay.

I'll do either a rogue or a sorceror.

Imma gonna go with a rogue. And also to read this thing called a "D&D manual"

Or...INUH can be my exposition dude.

It's not exactly naive. And it can happen. But it's tough. And definetly worthwhile.

I suggest "acquiring" the now sadly out-of-print D&D 3.5 edition Player's Handbook. Though for some purposes, the system reference document should help. It's not all-inclusive, though. It lacks character generation instructions.

I'll be interested in seeing logs for this. One of you should get Chatzilla or something so that's possible.

Assuming we run it on IRC, yup. Else we'll do it on the fora, but that's clunkier.

If I play, I might try something different and do a Cleric. It might be able to do some things interestingly. That said, I'm not sure if I will.

Okay.

That woud be awkward if you couldn't hide very well due to heavy armour, though >_>

But as combat isn't very important, that sounds good.

As far as divine casters go, I'd think a Druid would do better, but a Cleric could work if you handle it right.

It could go a little unusual and not carry too heavy of armour. The character can worship Olidammara, god of thieves, and use the Trickery and Mind domains.

Yeah, I'm not too sure about the details too much, but I think it can be interesting at the very least. Most won't expect a cleric of all people to be involved in such matters.

Yah.. Don't worry, my Sorceror only has one actual damage-dealing spell :P

Hm. A stealth cleric...I like the idea. I'm looking forward to seeing how you pull it off.

D&D has two sides to it- Combat, and out-of-combat skills.

Which isn't to say you won't ever fall into combat- you will. It's just not the complete focus.

Non-combat D&D is valid, if rare. Remember that you can give out XP for stuff other than fighting.

I was just looking for an unusual class for the scenario. Things like Rogue or Sorcerer seems a bit too obvious, as is some less basic classes like Ninja or Scout. I didn't want to do a class that wasn't suited at all for the scenario either, like Barbarian or Fighter. Cleric just seemed like a good solution considering that.

I looked through and there does seem to be some spells that can be used in the scenario. It could be fun, but I'm still not sure about the times. I'll see later what I can do.

Sorry, I think I may have misread the times. I could probably make most sessions then. I'm rather sure I won't be able to make it on Mondays though.

That's okay. I can either organize something, or run your character with it if you want.

I'm interested, but fair warning, this would be my first campaign. If you don't feel like breaking me in tell me so.

But I was thinking a druid but if you think it'd be too tricky for a new player, I'll play either a rogue or a sorcerer.

Regarding times, it's going to be three times a week, right?

It's okay. It's our DM's second campaign. That's why I'm here.

Casters are harder for new players to play. That said, it shouldn't be impossible. Like I said earlier, acquire a D&D 3.5 edition Player's Handbook and check this site.

I can provide character creation help to anyone who needs it.
