Complete pirateproofing is impossible. Wow also requires constant connection and just look at the amount of private servers. It's main effect is anti-cheating, but even then they could make a single player mode fully separate from online. That would have gotten them some more sales, but they didn't go for them.

Though, as long as somebody is pirating it, setting up a truly private server for oneself is also on the list of possibilities. It's only legitimate players who can't do that.

Private servers are too much bother. People who are more lazy than cheap will buy the game because of the added hardship.

Also, private servers tend to suck ass from what I've heard. Anyway, you lose most of the benefits of playing the game, like having an actual community.

No mod support for Diablo 3, with the same iffy justifications.

I hope I'm not late in posting this.

Very late. But it's okay, you can still join the hordes of ravening haters. There are spots open.

Well, all I can say is that I have a good reason to instead be excited for DOTA 2.

It's a more polished, hyper-streamlined Diablo II, basically.

That fucking does it. I have no interest in buying Diablo III anymore. None.

This shit makes me want to stab people in the eye.

This makes me even more glad I never intended to buy Diablo 3.

Torchlight, Titan's Quest or Borderlands is better anyhow.

I've been dreaming of Diablo III and Blizzard is just pulling down its pants and taking a huge, runny dump on my face.

Maybe I should send them the money then find a pirated copy.

Torchlight, Titan's Quest or Borderlands is better anyhow.

No. Just... NO. Diablo II is better than those games.

Hardly. Diablo 2 I reached chapter 3. realized I was just endlessly farming gear to farm more gear..uninstalled, and never played again

^And Torchlight isn't? That's pretty much exactly why uninstalled it.

[up]

at least it has a sense of humor? grimdark that is trying to be serious bores the shit out of me.

But honestly. Diablo 2 was a dead game to me mostly because I played the shit out of diablo 1 that I was burned out on the genre completely.

Diablo II doesn't have a sense of humor? Someone didn't play the game, it seems.

The Cow level was a bad joke that mostly existed to give you shitloads of free loot and exp. Plus you had to beat the game to even access it. I never beat the game.

I reached act 3, burned out, and never played again.

I personally thought Diablo II was fun for a while. Torchlight was fun too. I can't comment on Titans quest having never played it. Borderlands however is of a completely different genre and brings up an apples and oranges discussion.
