-Lucius shrugs at the Buneary again, this time rather more helplessly.-

Lucius: I dunno! I wouldn't rate it amongst the shittier things I've done, but then I've done a lot of shitty things, so I don't really know how they compare to each other!

-The girl's comment, however, brings one shitty thing he did relatively recently to the forefront of his mind.-

Lucius: Oh, uh... yeah, no, not really. Sorry about that. I wasn't thinking of you when I joined up, I just- wait, no, I'm not saying that I forgot about you either, I... um, is it okay if we start off from square one? I mean, not that I'm asking you to forget about what I did, but... okay, maybe we're better off if I just stop talking.

Kai: Yeah. We've got matters we need to discuss. Where is she currently?

Out of boredom, Halis tries something... and ends up using Foresight on Lucius.

Halis: <...Ok, woah. That's neat. I didn't know I could do that.>

Eva: Oh, wait! Huh, where did everybody go?

Merah: They left. But what I wanted to say was you're the one with the money. But I heard they sometimes require a little extra for these things.

-she gestures to her armband-

Eva: And? Oh, right. You can borrow it.

-Eva hands Merah her purse and Merah strolls over to the counter.-

Merah: Does this thing cost money, a challenge or a mix of both?

-Cady and Lila walk up to a house built into a hill and ring the doorbell.-

a voice on the intercom: Who is it? The security camera is broken so I can't just see you.

Cady: Hey Loony, this is Cady.

"Loony": Come in, the door's unlocked. By the way, I'm only letting you call me that because we've known eachother for years.

-They enter the house and walk down some dark corridors to a room, the main feature of which was the many computer screens in the center and a figure in a swivel chair facing away from them.-

"Loony": So, the banshee's back in town.

-The chair swivels around, revealing a woman of a similar age to Cady, petting an Espeon.-

"Loony": I've been expecting you. But who's the girl next to you?

Cady: This is my sister, Lila.

Lila: Um, hi.

"Loony": But I thought it was just you and- oh, wow I'm so happy for you!

Cady: We need to catch up. Let's all let our teams out so we can chat.

Lila: Do you have a pond, or a pool or something?

"Loony": Round the back.

-Cady and Lila let out both their teams-

Cecelia: <So, who's for some psychic go fish?>

Yubie: <Sounds interesting. Mind if I join in?>

Cecelia: <Sure thing! Come on guys!>

-Cecelia and Yubie leave the room, followed by two Meowstic and an Espeon.-

Cady: Now let's talk.

"Well, nothing happened, and it sounds like you're at least treating your mons decently... And I suppose if you've got someone vouching for you enough to provide potentially magical prosthetics, you must have turned something around since then. So, yeah, starting over seems fair, I guess"

-Fortunately someone else has a distraction!-

Girl: -To Merah- "Ah, right. Hm... Good question"

-Lissa nods, and presumably leads Kai upstairs to Alice's office, where she is sat staring fixedly at the opposite wall.-

Lissa: I'll, uh... I'll leave you two to it, then.

-She scurries back downstairs, leaving Alice to break the silence.-

Alice: ...I apologise if this seems entitled, but I would rather I have been informed that you were planning to use that particular identity again.

Ersatz Alliance - Present

-The moment Halis targets him with Foresight, Lucius's eyes widen and he takes a step back, holding up his hands.-

Lucius: Uh... yeah, that's kinda what I've been trying to tell you this whole time we've been together. I tend to end up in trouble because I'm a bad person who makes bad decisions. I mean, I'd rather you didn't Pound me, but... if you want to, I can't say I'm not deserving of a few hard knocks.

-He turns to the pink girl.-

Lucius: Same goes for you. I fucked up. It's not easy to forgive what I did, especially when it ended up targeting you so specifically. Seeing signs that others might have forgiven me shouldn't be what drives you to do so yourself. Again, I'd like to start over, but I'd like to do so from a position that doesn't erase what I did either.

They look around a bit and jump up onto a nearby countertop.

Halis: <Though... to be fair, I did say something about you earlier that I maybe... shouldn't have...>

They're starting to get upset over a previous statement again, looking away from Lucius.

-Kai pinches the bridge of their nose.-

Kai: I suppose. It was a last minute decision, and clearly it didn't matter if I told you beforehand, seeing as you found out the same day anyway.

A woman who looks like she just stepped out of a cosplay con is sitting on a bench, wearing polarized sunglasses despite the very overcast skies.

She stands up and makes an investigation check attempts to figure out precisely what the thing is.

-To Lifthrasir's Psychic senses, something about this thing feels... uncomfortable.-

Eris: "... Excuse me?"

Lifthrasir: ~Eris, it's signature is... off. Not like the things back home, though.~

Alice: ...That is true. I will admit, had you not revealed yourself to me beforehand, I would have been all the more hostile. I cannot fault any of your decisions, save for your choosing to get involved in the first place.

-She turns to face Kai for the first time.-

Alice: Again, I am aware that you are more than capable of excelling in this line of work. As much as I worry about your safety, that is a purely emotional concern that does not take into account your obvious level of skill. More logically, I wonder what it is you hope to achieve by entangling yourself in all of this?

I remember we like started thinking, like, 'how cool would it be if you used those powers for good, like, becoming a superhero or something!' I was gonna be that one person with all the info and the tech and stuff, we were gonna have a cool base and stuff, and an awesome costume we would be famous! But no-one would know our true identities... Banshee and Cat's eyes, what lies beneath the mask of these heroic vigilantes?

Cady: But then that happened.

Lila: What?

Cady: Turns out overusing shout really loud powers does a number on your voicebox. I was mute for weeks.

Kat: Shame about that, would have been cool if you learned to control it. You know, maybe those j-team people might have had similar experiences? Maybe you should, like, ask someone!

Cady: Maybe, but it seems you have to be very careful on the whole revealing you have powers normal people don't have thing. I talked to one girl once who got kidnapped and locked in a cage for months for being a lycanthrope!

Kat: Weremon?! They exist?! I've only read about them!! Oh my Arceus that sounds so cool!

Kahlia blackmailed me, and now I have this whole new face crawling its way across news and rumor mills, known for attempting a theft on a national museum, and nothing else. -The weird Roomba creature analyzes Eris's features a bit more closely.-

Roomba?: <Observation, peculiar features ingrained into biology. Unnatural. Not human. New species? Could prove useful.>

-And the Roomba stands up to its full height and stops being a Roomba in order to be a bipedal cyborg insect.-

Genesect: QUERY. "What are you?"

-The Genesect says "What are you?" in what sounds like a voice recording from a movie, complete with the faintest tinny string instrument drone in the background.-

Milagros: Well, if they aren't big on credentials, never mind. I was gonna say bringing whoever ruined my motorbike to justice could be our ticket of joining. Though, I still want to find out who did it anyway.
