Irritated, Pandora flew in a quick figure-8, an Air Slash forming and firing.
"Your own terms? I don't really think that was part of the description. The only thing that can happen on your own terms is how you handle the upcoming mess from whatever development follows that one," Lamb added.
And then the ship docked.
"Well then. Guess this as good a time as any to see that beam in action."
-Gale's reverie is brought to an end by the Toxic gunk. The poisoning of Tyrantanoth is concerning but then she realizes something far more important-
He didn't match the Dynamax. Which means I'll have to deal with one later. Okay. I can win this still, I just need to sweep and stall out his Dynamax... Just need to take down four Pokemon using one, with three turns before he's not nearly as large. Aaaaa.
Bondmate, show them the power of your Max Quake!
-Tyrantanoth Rex roars again and stomps the ground to send the stadium shaking with overcharged power of Ground typing-
Logan: -eyes sparkling- A reasonable suspicion. Addie, don't be charmed away by the dashing stranger with the mysterious energy about her.
Addie: -tone flat enough that even the "Pachirisu" sounds admonishing- <There's no way I can riff off of that without insulting one of us, our relationships, my professionalism, or our entire framework for the concept of love.>
-one gets the impression that they fully intend to continue riffing anyhow—but then science happens-
-they stop simultaneously—and simultaneously, they headtilt-
Addie: <...it didn't occur to us to question if that was weird.>
Logan: It didn't occur to us to question if the power differential was weird. u_u
-Logan takes a sip of their Gatrtea, Addie doing the same from a thimble she procured at some point at the exact same time-
Logan: I'd wonder if the power for Pokemon abilities was being used up for the transformation, but they're two-way, and human-to-Pokémon gives the power back.
Addie: -turning to Aware- <Yeah! Muscle memory is one thing, and humans don't have electrosacs or anything, but even the stuff that doesn't seem to use specialized organs at all. In fact—Logan, translate—come to th>
Logan: -sigh—with no heat in it, fond- —come to think of it, I can't use my Styler as a Pokémon, either, and that runs off of my human Aura. It is keyed to something of my biometrics, but there might be something more to it than a different "bio". Pokémon can't use Key Stones or Z-Rings or—these weird, maybe magic summoning sigils—
Addie: <—except in a few cases, and that with difficulty.>
Logan: -blink, unthinking- ...all among everyone we brought with us, in fact.
Addie: <...almost everyone.>
Logan: Everymon who transformed at some point, that is.
-they glance at Aware, then at their partner-
Addie: -looking at her claws- <...is that what turning into a human gets us...?>
Logan: -headscratch- We've, uh, "seen the gate", I guess.
(-deliberate self-distraction from looking at the introvert: successful-)
Logan: Right, yeah. So as far as we can tell Aura and Infinity Energy is tied to physical form...turning into a Pokémon makes you Pokémon enough to instinctually understand others, because...that is how it works, and turning into a human maybe makes you read human enough to do...a very short list of things that actually require a human user? This feels imbalanced.
Addie: -mutter- <Finally, I can pass those CAPTCHAs.>
Logan: Less imbalanced. Repeated since I think you only got half of that conversation, and I already can't remember which half.
-in lieu of looking at Percy and her luminous blush again, they contemplate an apple-
Addie: <...I really like them. I know we only talked to them in passing like the first time we came by to check on y'all, but I really like them.>
Logan: -to Percy- Believe me, I know the feeling. ^_^
-raising their cup- Weirdly charming eccentrics with more heart than is probably good for them but definitely are better for the world than anyone knows...are something to treasure, huh? I can't get rid of mine and I don't ever want to try.
Logan: -grin, wry- Is that so outlandish? I know a Pokémon scientist in this world, and the infinite multiverse cracked open over our heads for a few years there.
-they make an Egg-cracking gesture with their hands- Got lost in it and all.
Logan: Granted, she's an outlier among outliers and only slightly cartoonishly villainous, but.
Logan: -blink- By chance, you wouldn't happen to have revived fossils for a Togedemaru or Geodude in the past few months, would you?
-Hiro struggles upright against the (gem-studded, lumpy) wall, trying to keep the flames still licking across him from setting the Terrain on fire-
-and. giving the entire J-Team carbon monoxide poisoning-
-what a gambit, some corner of his mind posits, laughing hysterically-
Stormchaser, around them: -thrums-
Hiro: It is a law of the world that cats— -coughs more-
-aflame, he watches the few streamers of smoke wick away into the diamonds, trying to get his mind in order-
Hiro: -crying normally- ...I have healing. I was trying to conserve it, but if we're licking our wounds…
-he lays a hand to the floor—now the Grass catches, smokeless and prismatic-
-Grass-Fire release—all the life emitted by a Grassy Terrain is released in one massive burst, the roots lingering-
-open wounds begin burning into scars (and some cases to nothing), the more critical regrowing beyond natural limits—Tea in particular turns in a slow, pained circle before flopping on her belly in the burning vent turf-
Hiro: -to himself, insistent- I can cultivate more...later. Later, during...sleep. Sleep to...process…
Hiro: ...I need...to make a call. Call home.
-far more neutrally—curiously—than one might expect, given that the action triggered self-infliction of his fire, he's emotionally...this, and he kind of obviously has a vendetta against the entire institution- Why did you save her?
-Molybdenum stands to attention, giving no indication that she considers anything amiss-
-this is the Molybdenum that met the J-Team on the Stormchaser with nothing but screens and a friend between her and immediate annihilation-
-but here, this Molybdenum is...deferential-
Ramona: -vocoder less...obtrusive, than she had it set for the Stormchaser- Attrition...costs. That there are more of us than of them has always been more strategic than tactical.
-her power skitters out always like Ariados legs—further than their webbing, a thousand times as light-
-giving Adelinde a wide berth, as ever-
-she thinks of strategy, and future opportunity, and thoughts hers and otherwise filed like genome vials for future perusal-
-her below-surface thoughts, of course, differ greatly—any Psychic worth her salt learns that trick before turning a year old-
-she ponders telepathic contact to gauge Adelinde's mood—and therefore her odds of surviving the next several minutes, utility be damned—before deciding, again, not to bother-
Ramona: -neutral in the manner of someone giving a work presentation, saying things all the project heads already know to show she's paying attention- Iridium has been a thorn in the School's side since she escaped. As has the Alíthea—
-you know, the sort of stuff that isn't quite rote but isn't more than background noise, either- —but today, we're one step closer. None can run forever.
-I appreciate your heeding my warning, she thinks but doesn't broadcast-
-below the surface, she's burnt and tired and barely holding herself upright-
-that odd fear of the Trainer who spent most of the fight lying on the ground from a mildly perforated windpipe—that hasn't abated, though considering what their cat accomplished that may be understandable-
-given the specialty she was bred for, it'd be disappointing that this is all that's in
her plans, at the moment-
-infiltrate and subvert—but not superiors-
-corrupt data—but not scientists'-
-spread contingencies until every angle of a situation has an agent in place—but not Adelinde-
-her thoughts are made of knives-
-Templar see all, know all—if not of the outside world, then certainly of one Schoolchild-
-a child, to them—easy to discipline, easier to remove-
-no matter how much Molybdenum fears her—how much safer she'd feel if she managed to remove her-
(-no matter how much of her wants, irrationally, to excise the source of Adelinde's distraction-)
...to cope with what you've done-
"Ατι": A moment of paralytic grief, stored on ice. Just an instant—a split second—shuffled between the data points the brain interpolates between to form its continuous experience. One shard of ice among many, or even a few. Evident, alone.
to even consider it-
-Molybdenum lowers her mental hand—when did she raise it? It's cut and bleeding-
-inside the mask, pitch-black without the need for real eyeholes leaving openings, Molybdenum's expression collapses fractionally further-
-she's terrified out of her wits-
-one misstep and she's gutted—better to do anything to remain below the radar-
-anything to keep from reminding her that Molybdenum herself has been on assignment to hinder or break the J-Team for months, before Iridium or other escapees or Hiro himself could go to ground, there-
-her chance of any sort of security neutralizing Adelinde here would be nanoscopic even
if it weren't so hard to get this deep-
-everyone knows that these days Ramona's the kind of person who padlocks her diary devoted to rating generic-brand mayos-
-she comes alive in a crisis, like she takes all her creativity from the people she brings home-
-she altered their Teleport registry last-second to dump them from ten thousand feet up, so there's something-
Ramona: -simply- Understood.
-a rather politely dour Beheeyem extracts himself from a charred crater yet again-
Ribot: -regrowing his eyes, failing for the moment to reconnect the optic nerve- ~At your service, as ever.~
-if and when Adelinde provides the go-ahead, he he Teleports them to whatever base or staging ground awaits-
-Suiko pauses as this is brought to her attention-
-they have hit the apex of the jump and are beginning to fall-
Suiko: ...right, we're superheroes.
Dr. Ironspine: -mutter- <You know my pain.>
Suiko: Illusion this unrecognizable? I will handle this.
-she pulls a Fast Ball from under her hat-
-clicks it, and a Tropius spreads her wings beneath them-
Sapinda: <Ah, [Venice]! Lovely city. Delightful underbelly.>
<...bit exposed, aren't we?> :?
-hanging off of Sapinda's neck, Courage pulls teeth from Suiko's armor-
-she throws them like darts to thud into the earth between the Salamence and her target-
-the teeth explode into sound and fury-
-the Salamence reels—Roars back, standing her ground-
-...Sapinda reels in a strangely terrifying Roar of her own, territorial-
-the commotion draws yet more attention from the street, the warehouse's former guards variously running damage control, spinning alibis, or running away—the specific guard who released the Salamence jammed with their back to a pile of freezers-
-Tentacruel leap and tangle and sting, but...Salamence-
-Suiko frowns and draws back her arm—something like a javelin forms in her grip, gradually lengthening-
-produces a valiant attempt at arguing-
-or agreeing, or-
Megan: -mumbles something like "I like being in your life", muffled-
-running low on especially graceful words-
-she seems to be savoring the experience-
Floor!Vee: -burbles merrily-
-would be about the time she ordinarily asks if the person she's talking to wants to be left alone, huh?-
Megan: -...mumbles if Daydre wants to sit in and watch weird cartoons with her?-

"What I mean by "My own terms" Kendall, is that I will get the upgrade for the Wing on my own terms. Not Bishop's..."
He let out a sigh and lead everyone in via one of the airlocks... only to be greeted with a room that read "Move Testing". Silas wanted to question it, Roxy looked ready to start asking why, Hacks was just smiling.
"Storm-chan, you work in mysterious ways," Silas said opening the door and pulling his scarf on.
Stylus stepped up to the testing plate, at the other side of the room sat a Decoy, a Substitute doll. <Guess that's my target...>
He clasped his paws together, <Kaaaaa-meeee>, a faint glow of aura appeared, <Haaaa-meeeee->, the power began to condense around him as the auric sphere grew larger, <HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!>
With a brilliant beam of blue, the aura flew forward, the aura storm in flight, the Substitute even seemed terrified for an instant before it was struck by the beam and pushed against the wall.
Stylus exhaled a bit as he finished, his left arm letting off a hissing noise as near the elbow, vents opened and started expelling steam, he shook his left arm a bit.
<So, aura storm,> He said to Kendall.
He nodded sagely at the display of power, noticing the steam from Stylus's prosthetic with something of a wince.
Kamui, similarly enraptured and envious, discarded her costume entirely, going full Ninetales but suppressing her Drought.
Her Shiny fur became brighter as she began to gather a Solar Beam.
"Looks like we're doing a comparison," he chuckled, his right arm's sleeve beginning to billow and exude Obscura.
"But, honestly, bonus points for going full anime protagonist with it. I'd just be like-"
He interrupted himself by pointing a finger at the Substitute doll, an almost invisibly fast beam of Obscura colliding and detonating, causing the doll to ricochet back to where it started.
-Emma takes the Air Slash and shakes her head-
Emma: <You are being an obstinate research subject...>
-Emma bombards Pandora with psychic particles-
Risky: "I'm trying to find out who killed someone close to me."
Jade: O-Oh... I-I'm not here for anything like that, just stopped by to-
Risky: "You're lying."
-Eventually, the party comers across a View-
Olivia: <Wowie! I could soak up this view all day long. I meanm, just look at the top of that mountain, it's so->
<Wait, what's that?>
-It is now very clear they are looking at where Parfum Palace USED to be-
<That's the outer crust of Parfum Palace, isn't it? I saw my brother's streamers lifting them into the air...And then it was gone!>
<Wait, there it is!>
-the streamer-wrapped Palace is seated atop a nearby mountain-
<My brother could still be in there with Prince Julius. Ooh I bet he's plotting away... I'm going to stop you brother. As your sister, it's my duty.>
-rubs head with paper wing sheepishly-
<...Though first we should find a way back to that crater. Figure out what's going on.>

<It needs some way for the user to focus themselves,> Stylus explained, <It is a lot of power, easily one of the most powerful auric moves.>
~And he calls it the Kamehameha,~ Hacks grumbled, ~Why are you like this?~
<Were you to accept my teachings you too would see the wonderous world that exists before you,> Stylus countered.
Hacks just stared as Roxy shook her head with a chuckle.
Kendall had to stifle a chuckle. "Hey, when you got more power than you know what to do with sometimes, I would probably be pretty anime with it too," he defended.
As he finished the statement, Kamui's Solar Beam fired, easily slower than Stylus's channel.
<But now the question is what could trump it, if it's only "one of" the most powerful moves?>
Kendall's own Lucario materialized, hi-fived his trainer, and then returned himself.
Pandora tumbled to the ground, defeated.
"Well-fought," Gail allowed half-heartedly.
<I'm... not really certain, I only really fire it like a few times a fight, and I try to focus on other moves. I do feel exhausted afterwards and need to collect myself for a bit,> Stylus admitted.
~Seems like it's one of those things that needs time before you can fire it again,~ Hacks stated.
Kamon and Big Savings follow the group across the fallen tree, Big Savings floating calmly along, Kamon nervously picking his way over. He stares when the lack of Parfum Palace becomes obvious.
Kamon: ...Zacian, that's a sight, is it? I hope my director doesn't think me dead or anything. (sends out a Corviknight) Shall we fly there?
Ersatz!Channah: Huh. I was betting on Snorunt.
Channah: (dryly) It is now Real Mon Hours. You can finally understand all the petty gossip that goes on behind your back out in the tall grass.
Jack: (oohs and ahhs) <Wow, what a transformation!> (waves down at Ingrid) <Hiii Snom Ingrid!>
Percy: Relax, I'm not dashing. Best I can manage is a brisk limp.
Aware: Hm. Well, that would suggest that the energy to do Pokemon things is in fact stored within the scarf while I'm like this, and returned when not. And vice-versa for its opposite number. A store of energy inside the item, that naturally osmoses into its user and is pulled away when removed.
Percy: Then it should logically strip me of my abilities, if I used it.
Percy: Let's not test the theory.
-Percy listens to Logan for a while, frowning-
Percy: Fascinating. I've never really thought about the human-Pokemon divide being so...hard-line.
Aware: Makes sense to me.
-they remove the scarf, Percy snatching the phone out of the air as it falls-
Aware: <Whew. Having all those thumbs was getting kind of hard to keep track of.>
Percy: -pet, pet, crackle, carefully avoid scarf-
-she clinks her glass against Logan's-
Percy: To incredibly charming people with bad decision-making skills.
Percy: Is that what happened to the sky? I was busy moving at the time, and I wasn't going outside much. ...And, uh, I'm sorry that happened. Sounds like it sucked.
-she clicks her tongue-
A Togedemaru and Geodude? Yeah, now that you mention it, they came up to my stand with some fossils. I'll usually do favors for anything round and cute. You know them?
-Ever just sits quietly for a little while as the healing takes effect. They hold out a finger to Hiro for patience-
-they recall Pleth and Ephemera, setting Merle in the fire to revive her-
Ever: Good— -cough, cough- Good morning to you too.
-they straighten out a few of her feathers, and recall her-
Take a moment, Hiro. If you need to cry, cry. I can listen or I can keep silent company.
I saved her because the option presented itself. Given the possibility, it seemed only fair. Adelinde and Molybdenum weren't going to.
-she clenches a fist, and several blades spark to life-
-then more, then an orrery-
-oh well. Too late now-
Adelinde: I'll deal with the mission report. Spend time with your wards, Ramona.
-she sends out Camazotz-
-and that's that-
"Totally worth it, though." Kendall said readily.
<Kanpai!> Kamui agreed. <I'd go through any and all hoops to be that anime!>
Stylus smiled, <Trust me, you haven't seen me flipping around and beating foes to a pulp, or doing it while Mega Evo'd.>
~He's learned to embrace his Lucario side. Makes training him much easier.~
<Hacks has all the fancy special moves though.>
The door opened, and in stepped a Silvaly.
<Ah, so that's where you are,> he said in a pretty deep voice.
Roxy smiled, "Kendall, Kamui, meet Khan."
"Heh, reject humanity," Kendall started before reaching for his chest, gripping the Sun Stone and transforming in a flash of light.
Then came Khan.
With a bit of work, an illusory, floating hand reached into the jacket, drawing the phone and snapping a picture.
Colton Kendall Rever's Legendary Snapshot Quest!
<Heya,> Kendall Talbain nodded.
Kamui nodded as well.
Ann: -Starts looking around as she sends out Hirunda to scan the skies- You know, if my brother was here he'd probably have already found a new path or something.
Hendrix: -Is brought down to under half health- <Ack!>
Use Drain Punch!
Hendrix: -Rushes at Tyrantanoth Rex with a glowing fist-
Chiyo: -To Risky- I see. Partially I want to get back the ones who took my loved ones too, and repay a favor to a friend.
-Gives Jade a brief look that simply invites her to say more-
-Neon pumps his fists with a "yes!" before realizing what he's doing and rubbing the back of his head sheepishly-
Neon: "Ah... You too."
Risky: "Oh? what's your story?"
-she sounds much less enthusiastic than she actually is-
Jade: "Oh! Well, it's funny you should, I mean, you see - I'M SORRY I'M A RAINBOW ROCKET DEFECTOR"
-Risky's expression does not shift from neutral but she does blink. Once.-
Olivia: <I don't think we could fly to it... The streamers would block our entry. We need to deal with them at the source...>
-The nearby trees rustle a bit-
Ann: -To Olivia- I know that I was just-Trees rustle-
Hirunda: -Landing- <Bet you there's something else to fight over there, trees are too thick for me to see much on the ground.>
Chiyo: -To Risky- I'm an escaped lab experiment from perhaps one of the worst educational organizations ever devised.
-Headtilt at Jade-
That's it? Thought you were going to say you were part of Cipher or Neo-Flare.
They're rainbow-washing Team Rocket now? Thought those guys were mostly defunct save for a couple holdouts.
-Now removed from danger, Alice's anger and desperation begins to fade, replaced by a growing awareness of just how drained she really is. In an effort to reassert some degree of control, her brain slips into triage mode.-
-Kahlia has managed to stem the worst of her bleeding. She's still faint with blood loss, and she won't be walking anywhere by herself any time soon, but she is effectively stable, for the time being.-
-As such, Alice's mind turns to the psychological casualties.-
Alice: ...Bella, tend to Brie. And Whiptail. See to it that they're brought to the medbay as soon as possible.
-Bella nods, extending vines to form makeshift dressings and stretchers for Brie and Kahlia whilst emitting a strong scent to try and distract from the pain. In the meantime, Alice turns to Kai.-
Alice: It's alright. He's gone now. We're safe. You can put it down now, and never have to touch it or anything like it ever again.
-As she says this, she takes Kai's hands in hers, and starts gently, but firmly, peeling their fingers away so she can remove the gun from their grip.-

Reporter: Normally, Wedgehurst is little more than a quiet town, but tonight that all changes.
They step out of the way of the camera, revealing a large open air pavilion being built in a field on the edge of town.
Reporter: Tonight, this pavilion will hold its annual pokemon contest, inspired the competitions that take place in other regions like Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kalos. The event has run for the last twenty years, and is important to the town for the tourism it brings. He with me now is a member of the organising committee...
Xaster is sitting in the waiting area of the pavilion, which is effectively a medium sized cloth test. But they provide biscuits and tea, so it's better than a lot of waiting rooms in actual contest halls. He has signed up, and now sits in one corner nervously tapping his heels together.
Chu Chu: <Pi Pichu?>
Xaster: Don't worry too much. This is more of a ceremonial thing than anything else, so it doesn't matter so much if we win or lose.
Chu Chu: <Chu.>
Xaster: This is just practice for you and To To, since you guys haven't done many contests yet. And sure, I get to build some awareness in the Galar region, which wouldn't hurt. Just as long as we don't make a fool of ourselves, oui?
Organiser: First performances in ten minutes, everyone!
Xaster leans back against wall of the tent, tucking his legs under the bench so that if it doesn't support his weight he doesn't look stupid. Not long to wait now.
Jackal: Not much
Jackal: What's up with u?
Jackal: Need something?
Brie: I'm fine. I don't need anything. Just want to...stay around. It's fine.

-Alice's hands on Kai's own manage to jolt her out of her stupor, and instead of just releasing her grip on the gun, Kai haphazardly flings it a few feet away on the ground before she even realizes she's doing it.-
Kai: ...Thank you. I'm— I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
-She glances at Alice, then at Brie, and her eyes widen seeing just how much damage Rogue did to her.-
Kai: ...Brie? Brie, hold on— we need to get you patched up, we'll— we'll be here, we're not leaving, we'll be with you.
-They kneel down next to her.-
Kai: It'll be okay. This— this is nothing, compared to Zemmalise. But— but that still needs medical attention.
-They actually laugh a bit, though it's clearly more stress-derived than humor-derived.-
Kai: Gods, what a couple of cowards. They just couldn't stack up to us, huh? You keep fighting after this, but ol' Cain gets a bit of metal embedded in his shoulder and he chickens out. What was it he said about Carmilla being blinded by ego?
Brie: ...Put a hole in the coat you gave me. I wasn't going to...let that slide, haha.
-Alice nods at Kai, picking up the gun and systematically stripping it without so much as a glance, having seemingly gone through the motions hundreds of times before.-
Alice: I assure you, you have nothing to apologise for. Except maybe tossing a live firearm across the room. I wouldn't recommend doing that again in future if you're attached to your current number of fingers and toes.
-Meanwhile, Kahlia gives a faint, bitter chuckle at Kai's last remark.-
Kahlia: Heh. Damn straight.
Alice: ...They're both in shock. They might be stable for the time being, but I can't vouch as for what the long-term damage might be. We need to get them to the medbay now if we're to minimise it.

-Kai can't help but giggle again.-
Kai: Another thing to patch up, then. Gotta say, when this heals up, I'm looking forward to seeing the cool scar you're gonna have.
-They glance at Alice, nod, and start doing what they can to help get everyone to the medbay.-
