Halis: "Well, of course you can understand me... how else would we be having this conversation? Although, if this guy's strong enough to beat you... that makes me worried if he ends up showing up at any point. Oh dear..."

Aran: <Wh— you can understand me? Not like it matters... I don't like talking much, more of an "actions over words" individual.>

Halis seems to think the entire conversation is revolving around them, not noticing the one between Aran and Silas.

Silas looks at Halis for a moment and gives it some thought, "Wrong conversation. I'm more referring to your mon, been conversing with them."

Hacks spoke up, ~Also I don't think we've covered names. He's Silas and I am Hacks.~

Lyra: "..."

"Eat a dick."

Shaun, Ace, and Tsunami: (ಠ_ಠ)

"I like her."

Halis: "Ohhhh... I wouldn't exactly know that, sorry. Normal person, remember? Those are nice names, though."

Halis fiddles with their own, normal scarf, re-wrapping it to make sure it doesn't fall off.

Aran: <Hacks... an odd name but I can respect it anyway.>

~He was really young when he named me.~

Silas gave it some more thought and looked to the emerald scarf in his possession, a idea popped into his head, "How would you feel about a new perspective?"

Aran: <I like my name. Aran. Simple and straight to the point. No excessive flourish.>

Halis: "Perspective? What do you mean? If you're wondering if I have eyesight problems, not at all... but I think you're referring to something else?"

Halis looks at Silas, perplexed by this offer.

Silas said nothing as he held up his scarf in front of Halis, and wrapped it around his neck making sure the scarf part was obvious, becoming a Lucario before their eyes, before taking the scarf off again and holding it up.

"Wanna try?"

Halis: "Sure! I don't think I'd want two scarves at once as funny as that sounds, so..."

Halis, for the first time since they started, takes off the scarf they've been wearing, gently putting it into their bag, and immediately start shivering.

Halis: "...I already feel cold. No wonder I keep that thing on so much. Please hand the new scarf over before I freeze..."

Aran: <Huh... haven't seen 'em much without that thing. They must trust you a lot already.>

Ultra Desert

-As we finally get to see the machine in question on a wall-

I just don't think I should be idolized, is all.

Silas handed Halis the scarf and smirked a bit to himself, awaiting the results.

Hacks grinned, ~We have experience with Aran, this isn't the first time Silas has done something like this. Sure he's a bit offputting with his monotone nature and all that, but he's a good guy.~

"You know I can hear you."

~I know, that's the point.~

Halis wraps the scarf around like they did for their regular one... and within the minute they morph into an Alolan Sandshrew of all things.

Halis: <...I thought scarves made people warmer, not colder...>

Aran: <Huh... weird.>

Halis: <Hey, wait, Aran, I can actually understand you now!>

Aran: <That'd probably be because you're a 'mon yourself, now...>

Halis goes over to their bag, fumbling around in their things until finding a mirror, laying it down and looking at their own image.

Halis: <This is weird... I feel like myself, I know I'm myself, but I'm not...>

Aran: <Believe me, this is as weird for you as it is for me.>

Halis seems to be having a bit of an out-of-body experience with this.

Ultra Desert

Channah: <Oh, you're not.> -hops off and looks at the machine- <...Uh. Now what.>

"I had just demonstrated what the scarf does," Silas responds, "How is this that surprising?"

~You're not the only one weirded out, Silas himself still finds it odd.~

"Tails feel weird."

/Arwing/: Oh good, so he's not here yet. That means we have the ability to build an alpha strike.

Serana: It appears this region is a magnet for our kind. Maybe it's the vineyards, blood and wine as it were...

Ultra Desert

-Sending out Muddy and Tyto-

Simple. We destroy it.

-And so a hail of attacks falls upon the machine-

Halis: <It's surprising because... well, this isn't exactly the type of thing you can prepare for.>

Aran: <...What they said.>

Halis: <Also, this feels slightly... uh, ironic given what I said shortly before this.>

They try to walk towards Silas but end up tripping.

Halis: <Aw, heck, I'm going to have to learn how to walk all over again at this rate...>

Ultra Desert

Channah: -over the noise of the attacks- <What is that thing, anyway? Was someone trying to keep the Pheromosa out?>

"That's a mood if I ever heard one."

~Silas here didn't even experience time as a Riolu proper, he went to some alternate universe and evolved there.~

"I like the Foxverse."

~Of course you do.~

"That aside yeah I took a few trips myself when I finally experienced Lucario legs proper."

Halis props themselves back up, opting not to move around too much unless needed.

Halis: <I was already short as-is, this is just icing on the cake...>

Aran: <Heheh. Icing.>

Halis: <...I did not mean to make that pun, either, but anyway, last time I checked, Sandshrews don't exactly get any taller when they evolve, just... spikier, really.>

Stormchaser - Present

Sunny and Roy - the latter having turned human - could be seen wandering through the halls. The Delphox was holding an egg in a psychic grip, staring at it like she was trying to process what was happening.

<... What would Lilina think?> She ultimately asked, catching Roy off guard.

"If we're lucky, she'll understand. If not, it's something we'll deal with. We should be more concerned with caring for Koyasa," Roy explained.

<'Koyasa'?> Sunny parroted. <How did you even come up with that name? I mean, it's a good name, but...>

"I dunno," Roy shrugged.

The two of them continued to walk and would probably be walking for a fair while.

"That's also a mood. It's weird being so short as a Lucario."

~I'm of average Lucario height and you're just as tall as me in that form! Why are you so bothered?!~

"Everyone else is taller than me in pokemon form."

Hacks sighed, ~If you take the scarf off now you'll still be able to understand Aran by the by. The properties of the transformation apparently makes that stick, we're unsure how.~

Silas shrugged, "There are also numerous stores around to buy one of these, though I had to do a rap battle for mine."

Halis: <Numerous? I should've seen one by now, then... I'm not from around here, I'm from Jubilife City, but I don't recall hearing about anything of the sort. Also... rap battle? What?>

Aran just seems confused by all of this, honestly. Thinking is hard when you usually don't have to think much about things like this.

-As the machine is torn through-

Yes, but I don't know why Mobius, or Izaya if this is some side gig of his, wanted the Pheromosa gone. Maybe the height served as an antennae or something.

-Suddenly a dimensional rift-

Channah: <Welp. That's convenient.>

-And out of that rift, pops out some Mobius Grunts-

Mobius Grunt #1: Okay guys, now back to the gr-Notices us-

Mobius Grunt #1: -Looks back to their fellow Grunts, then at the destroyed machine, then back to us- J-Team!? What the hell are they doing here?

-To the Grunt-

Just having a pleasant vacation, you know.
