It'd make more sense if it was two Diegos instead of two Kiras.
I do wonder who from Eyes of Heaven will make the jump over to ASBR. I'm sure characters like N'Doul or Petshop would be kinda hard to implement, so I'm not too keen on their chances. Especially the latter, he was pretty damn broken in the original Capcom game.
Petshop was broken in Heritage because it had a slow set-up projectile that hit high, allowing it to use a low attack at the same time it hit for a literal unblockable mix-up. That's the kind of thing that would be hilariously easy to patch in a modern-day game, just make it hit mid and there's no problem.
As I understand it, aside from that projectile and its high damage output, Petshop was fairly mediocre in Heritage.

I guess that's true, still having a hard time trying to picture him in ASBR though. Aside from EOH veterans, I do wonder if we'll get any new characters aside from Prosciutto. Since the GDS Prison Farm is a stage, I'm guessing Foo Fighters could have a chance this time around.

I was mostly joking when it came to the new characters being alts. Do people really think that's going to be the case?
Personally, I think that Part 4 Jotaro will just be a costume for regular Jotaro (and maybe they'll add his Part 5 and 6 outfits too). Though there is a chance that Pucci could be split into two like in EOH, since there are screenshots of Pucci that don't have the 14 words meter. Plus, his absence from the final shot of the updated trailer is pretty telling.

Well that, or they don't want to spoil too much Stone Ocean. Even if that's probably common knowledge by now.
What are some characters in fighting games that inflict two different effects which work off of each other?
The only one I can think of right now is Gill in Street Fighter V. His fire attacks light the opponent on fire and his ice attacks freeze the opponent. If you hit a burning opponent with an ice attack it gives you bonuses on that attack, and vice-versa.
I'm asking if there are other characters like that.

Pokken T Ournament is chock full of status effects that can synergize well. Chandelure immediately comes to mind, naturally having attack down and defense down in its will o wisp and smog moves respectively. It also has the ranged command Grab Hex, which deals bonus damage the more status conditions the opponent has. If the opponent has 2, its damage rivals that of its super attack.
Ooh, good call. Despite being a fan of that game, I somehow forgot that Pokken did a lot with implementing status effects from Pokemon into a fighting game context.
If you're talking about just 2 different graphical damage then Ryu technically has that in SF III.
If you're actually talking about affecting the opponent then I'm pretty sure there's Arc character that's done that. I really don't remember it all that well, but I'm pretty sure Nine from Blazblue has at least one in her ungodly combination of spells.
Tekken vs Street Fighter: Build the Roster. You know you want it.
Weird question, but I remember reading info that Cassandra from Rage of the Dragons is canonically autistic? Is this true?
Oh really? I would've never known since I never touched Rage of The Dragons. I even don't know if it's available online or not?
I certainly am. I just don't want to take the time to type it all out.
I suppose Bamco was always going to prioritize Tekken 7 over T X SF, but god almighty, do I wish they already just said something more about the game. With one of SF 6's biggest appeals being photo-realistic like Tekken, I can't see T X SF being a thing anytime soon. Even though they've already shown what Chun-Li looks like in Tekken's graphics.
So how does everyone here feel about Darkstalkers' Supers input?
It's been a while so maybe I'm missing something here, but I really hate it. It's way too hard for me to memorize all those Raging Demons-like inputs. I can't even remember Morrigan's super or even her Eternal Slumber inputs in MVC 1.
I don't play enough Darkstalkers to really have an answer, but the only Raging Demon inputesque move I can see myself having trouble doing consistently is Tenrai Ha.
Help me. I can't get it out of my head.I've had opinions regarding Darkstalkers' command supers for years lol. It was definitely one of those experimental ideas from a bygone era a la Vampire Savior's pushblocking that I doubt would fly today. But I admit, comboing into Morrigan/Lilith's command super is very satisfying.
Does make me wonder what a modern Darkstalkers game would do about it though.
That's a good question. Especially if EX moves are still in the game.
On the 1 hand, certainly, it can help Darkstalker stick out more among the crowd & define itself more. On the other hand, as I said before, it's extremely hard to memorize all those Raging Demon inputs. Even the infamous pretzel motions still have universal inputs. AFAIK, Darkstalkers' Supers inputs are different for each character. If I had to guess what Morrigan's 2nd super inputs were, I can definitely say that I would never discover it without looking it up.
Also, if you have/saved a good Darkstalkers match, would you mind sharing it?
Why would that be the most difficult one? Just because you got to press Up?
Edited by agent-trunks on Apr 25th 2022 at 9:43:33 AM
It's the fact that up is the final input. No other move in any of the games has the final input be a direction, let alone up.
Help me. I can't get it out of my head.Well, actually Morrigan's 2nd Super ends in the forward motion & the SNES DBZ Butoden series & Hyper Dimension also had the Desperation/Ultimate/whatever they're called Moves ending in the up direction while also pressing another ATK button. Well, at least some of them had that cross-input motion.
I'm also pretty sure Darkstalkers has more examples of ending an input with directional motion instead of a button.
Ah, I must have missed Cryptic Needle in her move list.
After double checking the move lists, Tenrai Ha and Cryptic Needle are the only supers in Darkstalkers that end in a motion. Everything else ends with an attack button.

Help me. I can't get it out of my head.Oh really?
I figure there would be at least several more. Then again, I already find most of these Super inputs to be over convoluted as it is.
A funny little Maximilian made regarding Capcom's tendency to screw themselves over regarding their fighting games.
From what I've heard, the Darkstalkers re-release actually did pretty well, considering it was a rehash of an older game released with little fanfare. It even broke into the top 10 best selling games for a little while, if I remember right. It's just, that was nowhere near enough for the Capcom overlords.
I'm sure we'll figure things out once more info drops, everyone should be dumping a bunch of gaming news in a couple of months for the whole Summer Fest thing.
Still though, it's mind-boggling how much content ASBR is gonna have, it might as well be a sequel at this point.
