I'm trying to make a new Gamecube town but I need a good layout and pears, which seems to be impossible except for my very first long-gone town. XD;

Ok, so has anyone seen any piece of series furniture (modern, lovely, ranch, alpine, etc.) so far? If it's been removed due to the new DIY system, I guess it's not such a big deal (I rarely made too much of an effort to collect them in previous games), but I'd hope they'd add them back in a free update later.

I've found the Modern Wood flooring and wallpaper, at least. It'd be odd if they kept those but not the corresponding furniture.

Anyone have any tips on getting the stringfish, because it's going away at the end of the month and it's currently my white whale

I caught one in a pond in one of the highlands, though I'm not sure if that actually makes a difference or if it was just simple luck.

Just another run-of-the-mill guy.

Stringfish are only available between 4 pm and 9 am and only in the highland areas of the island.

So I'm going to download the game today, but I'm planning on updating my Switch model in the future. What's the deal with transferring, again?

There are still series furniture but they can't be DIY'd as far as I know.

Also yeah, villagers animate to the environment way more and do more things now. With that said I've only seen jocks do a unique animation of lifting weights. Also I wish we could carry drinks and instruments/brooms.

[up][up]I think it's in the works.

Which is a shame for me, because I need to send my Switch in for repairs. The cooling fan's having lumberjack fantasies while in docked mode and I'm afraid it might break the console one of these days.

You know you have too much time on your hands when...

Also, spoilers: read at your own risk

Tonight, my island had its first meteor shower, and I managed to get all the nook miles for wishing on 200 of the damn meteors. I wonder how AC:NH and my Switch will handle the drops I get from that tomorrow.

It took me about an hour and a half, with the longest gap between wishable meteors being about five minutes. and I should have enough star bits to last me forever assuming they all wash up

They happen randomly after 7 at night. So it depends on the RNG and how much luck you have.

I wonder if King Salmon have some sort of modifier based on rain or time.

I tried getting one using bait 10-12 times during the day and didn't find a single one.

But past 4PM while it was raining I got one by chance then another on the way back to the beach.

Almost done with getting all of the March bugs/fish - just seven left.

I sort of hate the ocean right now though.

Threw 60+ bait off the pier and no Saw Shark or Blue Marlin.

Also can't seem to get stag beetles to spawn at night after running around for two hours.

I stole Palms from the islands and I'll try again in the morning before they disappear.

I kinda hate how the game encourages you to keep a check-in streak with the ATM machine, then semi-forces an event on day 7 that makes it inaccessible.

I just want free Nook Miles. sad

The game gives you a free 500 Nook Miles when Resident Services reopens and still counts your days afterwards.

Oh, that's good then. Wasn't looking forward to rebuilding my streak at all.

So I have no idea how I'm going to set up my island proper, other than some vague ideas on where things should go. I kind of like the idea of the central island being just infested with bamboo, and I know I want an apple orchard somewhere accessible. I feel like that doesn't leave much room for building stuff, though.

I guess I'll have to see how much I can mess around with terraforming before I start laying down any major groundwork.

so even though nintendo says the 1.1.0 update that came with the game has the egg day event in it, i did not see it in my time travel

so i have to assume seasonal events are tied to real time

Ha, me too. Though to be fair, I just had the game on in the background with the camera angled up while I repeatedly pressed A and watched a Twitch stream. They were also playing Animal Crossing, incidentally.

[up][up] According to a Japanese tweet of the 1.1 patch notes: you are going to have to connect to the internet once sometime between April 1st and April 12 in order to access Bunny Day, and we can assume the same for the ranges for the other holiday events.

Turnip Wizard, under the assumption that it's still accurate, is predicting a spike for tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning. Would be cool if not for the fact that I have no turnips. I may or may not have sold them for 134 bells on Monday, I don't really want to talk about it.

I might open up my island again when it tells me to sell, we shall see.

Edit: So, uh. Damn.

I bought the blueprints for the giant robot. 1 Rocket, 1 gold armor outfit, 30(!!!) rusted parts, 90 iron nuggets, and 10 gold nuggets.

Guess I'm not picking up any chicks for a while, huh.

For perspective, I started on launch night, before the Friday morning reset, and did everything needed for the Resident Services upgrade each day they came up and I finally got the upgrade finished yesterday.
