Is it an adaptation of a NON light novel, such as Welcome to the NHK?

I can hardly remember what I saw of this anime, but the relevant pages seem to point towards a male lead.

It's either old or you never watched it passed the first episode or you never did and just heard about it.

Actually, Yu Gi Oh started off as a manga. The card game that developed eventually eclipsed all the other games.
